Nope, because in order to have a Charmander we have to transfer it from our previous games and the Pokè Bank still isn't available for Sun & Moon.

Yes, but $5 for an entire year of access to Pokebank doesn't seem that bad.

You can, unless it's in Sun and Moon (A handful of Pokemon aren't available in Sun and Moon, and the only way to have access to them is to transfer Pokemon from Gen 6, which Pokebank hasn't updated yet). Once Pokebank is updated with the ability to transfer, then it is possible to encounter Pokemon like Charmander in Wonder Trade.
The problem here is that we don't know when exactly will Pokebank be updated. They said sometime early this month, but now it's changed to later this month (and January is almost over).

Today I checked Poke GO after a LONG while and I like the new things they implemented. Felt like going out to get some of the new gen pokes, looks like there's a lot more types around my place now.

Then literally nobody ever turned it on again.

I read in comments though that the servers here can't take the gen 2 update, and good old Schrödinger's poke ball feature is back.

Yesterday they announced Pokken Tournament DX AND Pokèmon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon.

I don't know how this is elsewhere, but here actually pretty large and active PokeGo community has survived. Sure, the player amounts aren't near as massive as they were at launch, but there are atleast hundreds of active players still on my area. (which is a lot considering the size of the town). And now with Gen 2 and summer approaching, the player counts are raising again.

Also, so dissapointed with the Pokemon direct. I wanted a proper pokemon game on my Switch. Not Pokken. I laready have ARMS and SF2UDwhateverversion to choose from for my fighter needs, and both of those are way better than Pokken.

I wonder what "alternate story" means for Sun/Moon. But I get a similar vibe to BW2, so maybe not exactly a sequel, but something like that. I just wish they had ported it on Switch from the start.

Pokemon GO pulled a For Honor over here in Australia. It's lost a majority of it's playerbase and not much new content is able to reengage people.

Well, pokemon go is still supposed to have about 5 million active players a day. it doesn't approach the numbers at launch but the actual amount of players it does have is still nothing to scoff at. With such a figure it should still be one of the most popular apps around.

I still play but I am about to give up the app because well, it's hardly a game at all. The only reason I still play is basically that I never got a dragonite. They are supposed to revamp the gym system soon... Depending on what they do I will either continue playing or just quit the game altogether.

Well, niantic swears by a summer release for legendaries. That is bound to get people back on the streets.

Now that looks a lot like B2W2 due to the fused new legendaries and the two versions instead of one. Kinda sucks that they didn't abolish the slightly different release of the same games. After XY didn't have Z I thought that concept is now dead. Oh well. I hope the story at least is different - like the region is already progressed into a classical League system with gyms, so it would be a completely new experience of the region. However, since it seemed they are the same main characters as in SM, that might not be the case.

Overall I have mixed feelings. I feel like it's too soon too, SM wasn't that much fun that I would want to replay it any time soon, so I'm a little on the fence there.

I don't think you should worry about that.
I'm sure that in the future they will create a Sinnoh remake, not only for marketing reasons, but also ones related to the plot.
I mean, dimensions and space-time are a big deal in the fourth generation's games.

I too would have liked a game on the Switch, but I'm sure you realize how this from a marketing point of view didn't make any sense.
I believe that only a new generation is worthy of being put on the Switch and from the looks of it, it almost seems like they want to get to gen 8 very soon...
Heck, they're probably already working on it!

Ok so it seems Ultra SM is now playing in an alternative dimension? Ergo different plot and probably with gyms and differently assigned character's in different roles.

Overall I find the world built with all its dimensions and alternative stories too overloaded and complex, that kills the interest to keep up with.

Also, there's a gold/silver gbc release on 3ds now coming

So I am going to buy Ultra Moon, just because I have the Sun version and would feel stupid getting the "same thing" again. Jokes on me, they all the same huh.
