The 3rd season of True Detective is FINALLY here, premieres tonight with 2 episodes. Really looking forward to it.

Only tv im waiting this season is NBC's Manifest. Will have to wait for Spring to see whats next, (though (9-1-1)) returns then as well.

Solid so far...and made me feel like the 1st did.
Unlike the 2nd season which was good but didn't have the same evil undertone as the 1st did.
Looking forward to this week's episode.

I think that has to do with the setting/theme. We're sort of getting a slightly different version of a Southern Gothic vibe perhaps (maybe more hillbilly though, not sure). It also has to do with Season 1 and 3 being about unsolved cases, while Season 2 was more about organized crime/conspiracy. I'll never shit on Season 2 for being different, but I don't think I'll criticize season 3 for being reminiscent either. Mahershala Ali has already won an Emmy in the first two episodes IMO. Stephen Dorf and Carmen Ejogo have been great too.

And Season 3 of True Detective concludes with what might be Pizzolatto's strongest finale so far. This season was so damn good... I know the response seems to be mixed on the ending from what I've seen so far, but I'm completely satisfied. Fucking heartwrenching and wholesome at the same time. The scene with Roland and the dog ALMOST got me... almost. If Mahershala Ali isn't the frontrunner for the Emmy then it's a crime. Stephen Dorff deserves a nomination for his performance, as well as Scoot McNairy. Please don't make me wait another 3.5 years for more, I beg you.

Now what do I have to look forward to on TV, The Walking Dead maybe continuing to not be awful this season? The shitshow that is bound to be the final season of GoT?...

Two words: Good Omens

At least, it has all the potential for being fantastic. “Only” a mini-series of six episodes though.

Also maybe a return to form for Stranger Things (even though I thought s1 wasn’t the masterpiece people say, it was just a good show)?

And Fargo season 4, though that’s probably many months away...

I still love Season 2 for what it is, even though it didn't have the same kind of lofty philosophical aspirations that Season 1 and or even 3 had.

I've seen people call the finale "terrible writing", which I find asinine. It might be a bit guilty of being too info dump-y, but the resolution itself has no real problems in my eyes.

I saw an interview and Pizza said he has some crazy idea for another season but he isn't decided on whether he wants to do it yet or not. Seems like he might have other projects in mind.

There was an accidental set pic that showed Hoyt's daughter next to where Junius put Will Purcell's body in that cave after he died. So I figured Hoyt's daughter was trying to replace her dead daughter with Julie or something.

To be fair, I've been watching so many different things, I forgot a lot of details. Didn't even remember the Hoyt daughter until the finale. I knew the kids' mum was involved somehow though. She reeked of desperation and regret.

Turns out though that Mr Hoyt wasn't the BIG BAD I was expecting.

@xi0 if you haven’t seen American Gods season 1, you could try a couple of episodes and see if it’s your thing. I know you have good taste in books so maybe you’ve read the novel (one of Gaiman’s best). The show changes some things and adds some others but I rather think it works. It had its ups and downs but overall it was a pretty great season.

Season 2 airs three days from now (March 10). They’ve had a change of showrunner and some other issues inbetween seasons but I’m hoping it stays good despite this.

Doom Patrol is really surprising and great so far. About 5 episodes in and loving it, definitely different from Titans and honestly think it's better in some ways. DC Universe original shows seem to be going in the right direction and their uncensored, which is also plus.

I believe, Season 2 of Titans premieres this Fall and next month is Swamp Thing.

Anyone watching Chernobyl on HBO? What a tough watch but holy shit it's so well done.

Tom has been talking up that show to no end, but it seems like the kind of too heavy thing for my wife to watch.. so I’ll likely watch it by myself at some point, looks really good.

As for now, I’ll be so torn between watching these two tomorrow (they’re both my two most hyped things in as long as I can remember):


The adaptation of one of my favorite books, finally brought to screen after 29 years, or the Film conclusion to one of my top five tv shows of all time (and definitely my #1 that’s still unfinished)? How do I choose!?

(Okay, it’ll be Good Omens since my wife wants to watch that as well, but it hurts me that I can’t watch Deadwood immediately.. )

Central Park Five 10 / 10

I got a chance to watch this show and for me personally, I learned a great deal about the legal system and how perception can be manipulated to appease not only the racially charged ignorance of society as well as the profit of the court system for individuals. Five young boys were wrongfully accused of a crime and spent over a decade of their lives in prison. The affect this had on these young boys who not only survived this, but finally got free to continue their lives in peace was something to see. I only wish society would start thinking more logically when it comes to people in general.


Good Omens 8 / 10

Sheen and Tenner are amazing duo together as a demon and angel actually working together to save the world. Very interesting story, show was showcased well and such a shame it was only six episodes, but they really did well with the limitations here. I definitely think this is way better than "American Gods".



The Umbrella Academy 10 / 10

Another show based on a comic book series and man, this definitely lived up to some of the reviews I've read about it. Everything was on point with the show from characters, story and overall pacing. The music choices for this show were amazing and keeps you further into what's being showcased to you and all. Looking forward to seeing what they'll manage with a Season 2, can't wait.

I finished it a few days ago, and yeah it was pretty well done in every single aspect I'd say.

In case you weren't aware, and if you're interested, they also did a podcast for each episode (they're on youtube), just finished listening to them earlier today and it's really worth your time if you liked the show, they go into some production and historic details and whatnot.
