Watched Giri / Haji, was told it was boring and cancelled, but it had Kelly MacDonald so I persevered. I enjoyed it as a crime/thriller. It's slow enough for me, acting and characters are honest for the most part (Rodney is best boi), and the plot was fairly balanced (a lot of threads without becoming too crazy, in an order where you get to understand the charas too). Half the action is in London, the other half in Tokyo, which didn't hurt the show. Not going to become anyone's fave show but really couldn't see it being a waste. 8 eps.

I think what bothers me the most about this is that... if the characters didn't happen to have those names, and thus reminding me that this stems from Discworld (yet is so little like Discworld), I might find this a somewhat enjoyable watch.

I'll give this a shot. Hopefully I can view this in the same way I view the American Gods adaptation, like a sort of alternate universe thing, and it'll be good enough to stand on its own. It'll definitely take more will for me to forgive completely transforming some of my favorite books to THIS extent, though.

Kinda gives me the same vibe as the recent Dirk Gently series. Showrunner uses a popular IP to do his thing. Which isn't bad thing completely, I liked the Dirk Gently series, especially first season, but it didn't really feel like the books at all.

Not holding my breath for this one. Even the best case scenario feels like "Eh, kinda fun actually, but completly it's own thing from the books. Nothing phenomenal".

Very good comparison, that's exactly how I feel as well. I actually really liked Dirk Gently too (and the first book is one of my all time favorites), but was baffled by why they insisted on calling it Dirk Gently since the neither the character nor the setting was really anything like it... I don't even think Dirk Gently is that well known enough for it to be a big, viewer-luring name...

But yeah, we'll see. Least I can do is actually give it a fair shot, I feel.

Enjoyed the first season of "The Witcher". I've never played the actual video game, but I still liked what I watched. Looking forward to the upcoming second season.

The only series that comes to mind similar to this is "Helstrom" or "The Mandalorian".

I was going to say Mandalorian too. It's not quite the same but it the most similar your going to find probably.

If you have access to video games at all. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. But I'm sure you know that.

The Mandalorian second season was pretty good. Started off slow, but picked up later on. From what I can tell, Disney is using this show to set up other projects and seems like they want the shows to fill in stories between prequel and original trilogies. Real excited for the Boba Fett and Ashoka series that will take place after Return of the Jedi.

Season 3 of Mandalorian premieres in December 2022, though.

Sweet Home on Netflix
South Korean horror about people trapped in a block of flats while everyone outside turns into monsters. First episode pretty good. On to the second now.
And for once, English dubbing at a competent level!

Alice in Borderland was good. Didn't know it was based on a manga... or that said manga had an anime adaptation, until after the first episode. Reminds me of Btoom, Gantz, and Saw (basically a death game story).

First two episodes of Marvel Studios first television series has premiered. So far, it's a cross between old 50's sitcom meets imagination and magic tricks with heavy fan theories pouring in. 7 episodes remain and I think there is a bigger plot to this series that will expand into others.

Bettany and Olsen really seem like they enjoy each other's presence and work together well.

Ratched series is cool, I watched it steadily, time flew by unnoticed. It is not for everyone, many will think that this is some kind of cruel nonsense. But I see something more in this, a very high-quality picture, it does not load, although it keeps it in suspense, everything is beautiful, juicy, and of high quality. And of course, everything is exaggerated here, black humor, you need to understand it. I think this is a very worthy novelty, everyone played just fine! I recommend!)

Binge watched all 4 seasons of the Castlevania animated series from 2017.

Its like a lighter and more family friendly version of the manga berserk.

But better than berserk IMO. With lots of interesting messaging going down for those who notice those types of things.

Just found out that Good Omens is getting a season 2…

Usually I’d say “this is terrible news, tv shows always go off the rails when the source material ends”… but honestly the parts I really liked of s1 were mostly stuff that didn’t happen in the book. Who knows; if they make a season even more centered on Crowley and Aziraphale, s2 could even be better than the mixed bag that was s1.

(Gaiman is basing the scripts on the sequel he and Pratchett planned out but never really wrote.)
