Hardy, I'm okay with Fed wanting to win the Davis Cup. That's a great goal and would be a fitting moment to cap his career.
However, however, he admitted that Djokovic was the better player because with a small injury, Fed basically said he had zero chance by withdrawing. Normally, players have small injuries, but we don't see them withdrawing.
Do you remember the media attacks that Henin received when she retired from the Australian Open Final against Mauresmo? She didn't withdraw beforehand, she played, but couldn't make it the whole way. Of course, the truth is that Henin appeared to be in good enough shape to finish the Final, but she didn't want to finish the match. She did have an injury, though, but people were offended that she retired midway instead of playing through and risking more of an injury.

On the other hand, if Fed went out there and got destroyed by Djokovic in 50 minutes or something, we wouldn't have wanted to see that either.
