Pretty much agree with Hardy, he won WTF 6 times, and his outside shot at YE world number 1 was gone...may as well be fit for davis cup. I don't think he thinks he had no chance, he swept djokovic earlier during the asian swing where he was on a streak and just won beijing with ease.

As for the peoples money..the whole tournament sucked lol. Fed almost double bageling murray, berdych and cilic getting 6-1,6-1d the first day. Raonic pulling out after losing, ferrer subbing in then losing etc. The finals was a good summary of this tournament lol.

Fed wins the davis cup. Pretty much the only major trophy he's missing. All in all good year for my favorite players. Watching Nishikori come up was fun.

I dislike Federer, so I'm inclined to see the worst in whatever he did. I did like when Monfils crushed him the other day, though. Pity that Tsonga wasn't up for it.

I can't dislike a person I've never shared the same breath as lol? Especially Federer, but i'll respect your differing opinion . Trying to like every player helped me enjoy the sport more.

2015 Season began..idk if anyone is following but..some highlights:
-Nadal loses first round in Doha to world number 137 (i think) after winning the opening set 6-1. He was defending champion.
-Djokovic loses to Karlovic...odd for the best returner but it was windy. He was oddly frustrated . Ivo played well tbh.
-Federer was down a 4-6,1-3 to an Aussie qualifier but eaked out the win. Looks quite rusty.
-Serena had another moment of lethargy, needed shots of espresso. Got demolished by Bouchard in an uncharacteristic 2-6,1-6.
-Murray is playing Hopman cup for some reason.
-Berdych ditched the hat.

Yeah, the results have been odd. It's the first week, though. Serena got bageled in the first set the other day.

The Nadal defeat was very odd; I'm quite worried about him. Since his return from injury he hasnt been able to string together any runs of victories he'd need to boos his form and confidence. Hopefully his experience will see him through the AO.

I heard about Serena's bagel but not her crushing to Bouchard.... bloody hell.

Nadal did win Doha doubles...idk what that does for him though lol. Federer destroyed Dimitrov...quite surprised. After his struggle with Millman he found his stride very quickly. Expecting another good year from him.

What's going on with Serena?! she's been so inconsistent this season and her temper boils up when she's not playing well. Congrats to Poland for winning the Hopman Cup though.

Federer is chasing his 1,000th win in the final against Roanic. A set up already but Raonic is more resilient in this second.

The match was really high quality. Hype for 2015. They had a preplanned ceremony that was rather nice. Even Rod Laver was there...quite the milestone for Fed. If he plays well he could surpass Lendl's 1071 this year/next. He had a tour best 73 wins last year.

Nadal survived his scare against Smycek....Federer however does not seem so lucky..down 2 sets to someone he was 10-0 against. It would open the draw for Dimitrov/Murray though.

Federer is up a break here, though, and serving for the set. If Fed holds here, Seppi might crumble.

Really poor by Seppi in Fed's last few service games. It was the time to exert pressure, but he couldn't do anything. 5-5.

Couldn't come through. I see Kyrgois beating Seppi, Dimitrov vs Murray. I picture Murray making the semis. Unsure about Nadal, I didn't give federer a shot at winning this tournament at all though, expected at least quarters. Oh well.

I thought that Fed would lose by the Round of 16 or Quarters. I did expect a win here for Federer, but lately, he's been losing to people that he used to dominate.

Too old, regardless of what he thinks. The consistency in his youth will never come back. One day he's barely losing to John Millman...the next two days he's routing dimitrov 6-2,6-2. It sucks but I've seen it happen to so many other great champions..start losing to everyone (serenas first 3 slams last year come to mind).

My pick for this regardless of anything was Djokovic. Wonder if that upset bug will spread to nadal later. Fed and Nole remain top 2 regardless of what happens (mathematically)

Yeah, you can see that he's just not the same player anymore. Age happens.

Just like you, my pick was Djokovic, but my pick is Djokovic for every Slam, so...This might finally be the year that he gets the Career Slam.

Tough break for Federer, just like you guys said, I didn't expect him to bow out so soon. I had hopes he'd at least make the quarters.

On the women's side, as it has become routine for Ivanovic to be knocked out on the first round and Wozniacki lost to a strong Azarenka too.

Also not to take focus away too much from the on court games, but did you guys see/hear about the whole "twirling" incident and what do you think of it?

I did, Bob. I wasn't going to bring it up.

I was offended by it. This isn't the heyday of sexism when things like that happened everywhere. This is 2015, a new era, ostensibly. Instead, that commentator tried to bring this back to the 1960s.

On the other hand, Billie Jean King went too far. I don't think that it was as terrible as she made it out, but it was certainly disturbed to watch an older man ask a young woman to "twirl" for him. Serena's older, so it's different, I suppose, but still out of line.

I share similar views; thanks for the input. That sort of stuff has no place on the court.

Looks like Gasquet is heading home too; 2 sets down and 6-5 on serve in the third set.
