Well this is some good revenge for losing his last 2 five-setters against Djoko.

It's nice to see Wawrinka getting to these latter rounds of Grand Slams; hopefully he can win one someday soon. Next match I'm looking forward to is Murray vs Federer. I think it's possible that the winner of this match could win the tournament itself. We'll see

Well Djokovic had an easier route till this match, hell even this should have been "easy" for him, maybe he had it too easy this AO season and was confident maybe too confident in his winning streak.

I think he was expecting an easier battle than what he came up against. And the crowd always roots for the underdog or home favourites; so that worked to Wawrinka's advantage, at least, in the latter parts of the match.

Did I not say Ivanovic would lose her next match? This is what annoys me about Serena losing before the final and most of all to Ivanovic, her game fluctuates too much; one minute she's playing out of her skin and the next, there she goes. I guess the hip injury also came to play here and maybe because of all the energy she gave in the Serena match, took a toll on her. But still, damn it.

I expected her to lose to Bouchard because of that reason, Bob. Did you see that shameful on-court interview where they asked Bouchard who her celebrity crush was, instead of making legitimate coverage?

I don't think Bouchard's nearly as cute as they're making her out to be. No, they don't, Hardy. It's really quite disrespectful and even a bit misogynistic. Yes, I know the interviewer was a woman, but that's probably because they couldn't have a guy ask her that question.

Dude, she's 19...I know that's legal, but...Anyway, I hadn't thought of her as attractive in the first place. She's not ugly, but she's perhaps merely pretty. A lot of tennis girls/women are pretty, however, so it's nothing out of the ordinary.

I was unaware of the teddy bear thing. I do know that there's that group of Australian college guys who root for her in their own little section.

If they sent a guy to ask that question, instead of a lot of people laughing it off, there would've been outrage and cries of misogyny.

In the general world of tennis girls/women, she's certainly not a beauty, although she's no Schiavone either.

I only know because ESPN made a point out of it while she was playing Sam Stosur and then later on Casey Dellacqua, two Australians.

She really needs to find a consistent level in her game, because Serena is arguably still at the top of the pile, but others are also coming through and if this tournament has shown us anything, is that anyone can be beaten. I hope she stays free of injuries, that will keep her in the mix with the others.

And Roger takes it from Murray in one of todays quarters. Murray didn't really put up much of a fight in the end; I was at least expecting Fed to take it in 5 or Murray to win in 4. Seems he's still not completely game ready yet. But he shouldn't be too disappointed; he's had an okay tournament.

Next up...Federer vs Nadal

Yeah! I stopped watching because it was just too painful to see him struggling across the court but not throwing in the towel, then my brother called me back. Amazingly, he's a point away from taking the set!

I think as the commentators have noted, with both his hand and back hurting him, he's trying to get more pain from the former, as to not focus so much on his back. Hope it works but I don't see him going 5 sets here...

Not easy, and so becomes the first person to beat Djoko and Nadal in the same tournament, also the first person to beat the 1st and 2nd seed in a Grand Slam since '93.

The only one who I can think of that retired in a Grand Slam Final in the last 20 years was Henin. She did it once or twice against Mauresmo that year that Mauresmo actually knew how to play.

Yeah I remember that match, and it was also mentioned during this final. As some people in the crowd began to boo Nadal for going away for treatment. I could understand Wawrinka's frustration at not being kept up to date on the situation but the way the crowd behaved was appalling.

Yeah I remember that match, and it was also mentioned during this final. As some people in the crowd began to boo Nadal for going away for treatment. I could understand Wawrinka's frustration at not being kept up to date on the situation but the way the crowd behaved was appalling.

It also happened to have happened at the Australian Open.

Wawrinka may have thought it was a delaying tactic to halt/stall his momentum as well.

It's not really something new, Federer complained (after losing in this tournament) about Nadal taking too much time serving in every single one of their matches (and that he was only penalized once or twice).
