@Holt is it possible to hold this tournament later? It's surely creating an interest in the fandom.

We're almost through anyway. Might as well go through with it.

Plus, if we hold off the tournament, it would be unfair to the characters who are already eliminated.

They didn't get a chance to see what they could have done in the future.

In hindsight, the tournament may not have taken place at the right time, but we had no idea about the direction that the manga was heading.

Unfortunately, I cast my vote that we follow the schedule as planned.

There's a misunderstanding, i think what @natsulucy wants is that we do the tournament he described after the tournamenet we're doing right now.
He doesn't mean that we should stop the tournament right now and get another one going.

.. Or maybe i'm misunderstanding. :P

Yo you understood it right.I was talking if it was possible to hold a "Best Battles Tournament" after this current tournament ends.

Oh ok, my bad, yeah I did misunderstand.

But how will the "Best Battles Tournament" work??

For everybody, "Best Battles" vary a lot. It's based on opinions, that means that we can have thousands of "Best Battles".

That would be very complicated because the mods would have to first hold a poll to see which battles are the "Best Battles".

Even then, that would be very misleading because not everybody believes in this same best battles.

Not to mention, that would lead to heavy bias because it would be entirely fan-made.

People would choose battles where their favorite character wins.

Somebody might choose Erza vs. Azuma cuz they believe that battle was BS.

Somebody will choose Laxus vs. Natsu and Gajeel because they want to see Laxus lose.

Somebody will choose Natsu vs. Fukuro because they like to see Natsu lose.

Plus, all of the battles that were named above are canon. That means you will have some @FEATS MATTER ONLY MEMBERS

that will argue to no ends because they have all the proof on the scans and manga pages.

There is practically no debate with that tournament because if I were to argue the opposite, those "types of members" will keep arguing on their manga pages and evidence.

Not to mention, I really don't want to start a war with somebody that goes:

"IT'S *&#% BASELESS"

or

"It's *&#% FEATLESS"

Like really, I really don't want to start another war like that..

Unless he gets a fight with Acnologia or Zeref or other powerhouses like Laxus and Jellal(just to name a few). Even then, it will be a close battle due to his fandom

Well tbh, a number of those fights have characters who have been left far behind power wise and then those who have made appearances post TS and have shown increase in strength and thus may win their battles are already largely included in this tournament.
In addition, most people already have firm beliefs on who would win since those are actually canon fights unlike the tournament where most of the battles are non canon and so require more discussion to determine the outcome.

Natsu's fandom isn't the only one going strong in this tournament...

I made a bet to myself before this tournament started that Natsu, Laxus, and Jellal would all go far.

As I predicted, they all made it to the quarterfinals and will likely make it to the semifinals/finals.

Those three characters have the biggest fanbase for the male side. Sometimes, it's unbelievable at how far fans go to change the course of the tournament.

For the female side, it was Erza who had a large fanbase. Too bad I personally weeded her out though.

She wasn't going to take out Wahl, especially when she failed to take out an inferior Spriggan named Ajeel.

Oh well... if it comes down to Natsu, Laxus, or Jellal vs. Gildartz... then I will cast my vote for Gildartz.

In this tournament, I think a few characters have been a bit 'overrated' for lack of a better word. They've been hyped up a lot, but apart from that there really isn't a lot going for them.

Natsu won't win when it comes down to Gildartz vs. Natsu.

Many of the guys on this forum are massively into feats-matter only material.

In all of the entire FT series, Gildartz has always shown to be leagues/tiers above Natsu.

Now, most of it is comedy relief, like the silent chapter, but there was one scenario when both Gildartz and Natsu was serious.

And that was on Tenrou.

Natsu was forced to kneel under Gildartz's boots... without Gildartz even laying a finger on him.

If anything, all feats show that Gildartz is above Natsu, until said otherwise.

I know you were half-joking with the Acnologia deal (pretty sure almost everybody would vote Acnologia over Natsu), but if it comes down to Gildartz vs. Natsu, I will not hesitate to explain what I said above...

well, according to fans feats are everything. Goku never busted a planet. Frieza>>>>Goku. that is their logic now this days.

I'm pretty sure Natsu will win against Gildarts if it comes to that battle. fans are fans.

After reading the "FT Tournament: God Serena vs. Natsu Dragneel" Thread, I would like to discuss a few topics:

For the first topic, I remain relatively neutral on the debate.

Here is the Global Moderator's Notice:

Global Moderator Notice:
Furthermore, any emotional/psychologically barrier preventing any character from fully utilizing every skill in their repertoire is negated. The argument here is that Natsu needs an emotional trigger to use DF.~ Holt

**Note: I take no side on the debate whether Natsu's DF is emotionally triggered or not.

However, this post will be under the assumption that Natsu's DF requires that he is emotionally triggered.

First off, I did vote for Natsu, but for my own reasons. So in no way am I biased here. However:

Regarding the rule of negating all emotional/psychological barriers, to be fair, I don't really see how that rule can be applied to Natsu willing Dragon Force.

As the rule states, there are no emotional barriers.

But Natsu having to be emotionally triggered is NOT a barrier.

Technically, that cannot be considered a barrier for Natsu at all. He just may simply lack the capability.

If it is true that Natsu requires some emotional trigger to turn DF, then that is the equivalent of Natsu requiring Etherion to turn DF.

In other words, it can't just be given to him.

This rule regarding emotional/psychological barriers would apply more to Jacob, who cannot see women's breast.

I wouldn't necessarily consider Natsu's lack of capability to be an emotional barrier.

Long story short:

"Having to be Emotionally Triggered" =/= "Emotional Barrier"

Technically Marco wasn't restricted for Mira. The only thing would be to question how effective it'd be against certain opponents which is up to speculation and this is considering that not everyone was affected when she used it in the manga.

Now regarding this issue. All is already said and done. However, I would still like to point something out.

I think it was pretty clear that Macro worked on anybody who was within Mira's eyesight.

Macro has shown to prove itself effective countless times on various people/opponents.

There is almost no reason to assume that Macro works differently on Jellal.

As for Macro not working on everybody, it would be absurd if Mira could wipe out the whole Alvarez army with one attack.

It's an unrealistic feat that nobody could accomplish and is too much to ask
.

As far as I'm concerned, Macro worked on its intended targets and should work within the view of the caster.

On the first, technically, the ability for Natsu to use DF is already within him. Now as mentioned before, it's debatable if he actually needs an emotional trigger. Keep in mind that he and Gray were doing rather well against Mard until MM, after which Natsu got pissed seeing gray apparently defeated, then he went DF. Again, this can actually be viewed differently. That doesn't automatically mean he couldn't have gone DF regardless. In the end, it could be said that he just needed to be sufficiently angry and gray served the purpose there. Now considering that, all requirements for Natsu to go DF lies within him. Unlike before, he doesn't need to consume powerful elements to go DF and at most, he needs to reach a certain level of anger to activate it. Anger is also something within so technically, there's hardly anything keeping him from going DF since the other rule negates emotional/psychological barriers. It's like fairy law. If the opponent is a friend, the spell is redundant. That's an even bigger barrier but that was negated. Basically, considering Natsu doesn't need external aid, there's no reason to restrict DF.

As for Marco, the point is that it was never restricted according to the rules. Whatever arose from this was based on debates and opinions. That's part of the tournament, having to argue a point substantially and convince others. If people thought otherwise regarding Marco, it can't be helped, however, we didn't impose anything regarding Marco or its effectiveness.

nah I want Laxus vs Gildarts and Natsu vs Jellal. its more fitting tbh. Natsu has more chance of losing against Jellal then against Laxus according to some fans.

Welp. Natsu vs Gildatrs is the best finals match up at this point in my opinion. This should have waited a bit longer for the manga to explain a few things. Laxus v Natsu would be good too, the laxus fanboys on this forum are unreal so im sure he'll take the crown, but the discussion would be lit!!! :)

this is the battle of fanboys in which Natsu or Laxus will win and possibly Gildarts cause he is way toooo overhyped. I will use regular scaling ( MP, AP, Speed, Durability, Intelligence, Versatility).

Lol xD, Gildarts is going to win this tournament based on his hype, specultaion, character potrayal and massive fan support!!!
He hasn't shown anything in this arc but he is considered to be on spriggan tier ( slightly above Laxus and Gerard) or even high spriggan tier ( the same level as August) which means that in a 1vs1 no one of the current participants can defeat him now! Holy moly, even his appearence in this arc is highly questionable!?

However, I want use my chance right here right now to praise in name of all fairy tail fans here the people who actually had the idea of this tournamnet and organized it so well!!! It was the first tournament so of course, it wasn't perfect but it still was exciting and fun as well!!! I was able to read some interesting opinions in the vs-threads too.
Thank you and I trully hope this wasn't the last one :) !!!!!!!

Btw for the future, are there any threads here that compare 2 or more different mangas with each other or a tournament between all possible characters from different mangas ( for instance, Madara Uchiha vs Acnologia and so on)? I would love to view that kind of discussion threads!
