This cannot be avoided since some people have decided to vote for underdogs, for/against certain characters, and due to lack of consensus regarding restrictions.
In my opinion, it makes sense to give an honorable mention to a character who is a formidable opponent, but doesn't necessarily have what it takes to advance. But it was apparent in a few rounds that some people were voting for underdog characters just to give them recognition.
The second point is obvious and self-explanatory regarding favorite and least favorite characters.
As for the last one, I saw quite a bit of confusion about agreements among users in terms of character restrictions. This ranged from Gray's "Darkness" mode to Gajeel's DF to "off-screen panels" to "arbitrary character statements" that did not have solid evidence to back it up.
I wouldn't necessarily blame this on the rules of the tournament itself, since the manga has always been unclear and contradictory about these things. But clearly, there was a split in perspective and some characters were given the benefit of the doubt regarding their abilities while others weren't granted the same luxury.
You can only hope that there are more objective people and that this group of people can off-set any inherent bias in voting/decisions.
Darkness is just POF based off negative emotions. Gray still has access to it, but only if he actively taps into those negative emotions, which he doesn't typically do anymore. That said, I don't see any reason why Gray's regular POF can't be just as good as darkness. POF based on love tends to be superior to darkness anyways.
Technically we don't know if Gajeel even has dragon force. He called the form "Black Iron", and it some translations it was referred to as steel. If it is dragon force, then there's no reason it should be restricted. Gajeel didn't eat Bloodman's particles for a magical power-up. He ate it for the ability to touch Bloodman's body. Technically eating the particles would have nerfed Gajeel's MP. If it's steel, then things get a bit more complicated, because we can debate whether Gajeel can make steel without consuming those specific particles or not.
Off screen fights are still fights. They tell us where characters stands in relation to each other. For example, Mirajane vs Skullion ending in a stalemate tells us that they were on the same level. Now some people have attempted to argue that Mirajane had some advantage over Skullion that skewed the results, but I remain unconvinced. If Skullion thought he could have steamrolled Mirajane, he never would have considered retreating in shame and asking for Suzaku tiers for help.
Actually, I was talking about match making. For example, put Natsu and Suzaku into first round, and one of them will lose, which means someone who is stronger than 99% of people will be on last place. This is why tournaments don't make sense for me.

If Natsu vs Suzaku isn't the finals, I'll be disappointed lol. These two are obviously the strongest and it's not even close! Like, they no diff the rest of the competition

Not sure I follow. So does Gray definitively have access to it throughout this tournament or is the "if" part going to be left to individual interpretation?
Because if it is the latter, then my point still stands that there is no general consensus among voters in terms of Gray being able to access it at-will.
If this so-called "Darkness" mode is truly just PoF or negative emotions, then Gray should obviously be able to use it at-will because everyone has emotions and anger in this battle.
From my standpoint, Gray's "Darkness" mode is merely just the peak of his power when his adrenaline is being pushed to its maximum.
Bringing in "PoF/negative emotions" is useless here because it's not like this tournament is following a storyline or plot. In other words, what emotions are the characters feeling here other than wanting to defeat their opponent and win the battle?

Well, the fact that we're using a lot of "if's" here implies that the manga was rather unclear about this, which was my whole point.
If there is a translation issue, then how are individual voters going to decide which one to go with? The concern here is whether Gajeel still has access to it and can do so at-will.
As far as the "Jet Black Iron/Steel" transformation goes, I'm inclined to believe that it is indeed Gajeel's equivalent of DF, especially since this was heavily implied by the manga when he had flashbacks of other Dragon Slayers being able to activate DF at-will while he still could not.
Not to mention, his appearance closely resembled the other dragon slayers' DF designs in terms of having actual scales on his body.

Sure, off screen fights are still fights, but we have no idea what attacks were being used throughout the battle.
For instance, CQC is still considered a fight, but I'd argue that it is far less threatening than a spell such as Black Ash.
However, I do agree with you that I didn't see Mira having any advantage against Skullion. So the results were not skewed, but they are susceptible to speculation, which makes it impossible for a fair comparison.

While it's true that some characters will always have bad luck regarding this, it's the only way a tournament can be designed.
In my point of view, it's supposed to be more of a game than an actual power ranking list. So instead of assessing all the characters' powers relative to one another, we should be treating this as a contest to see who can reach the top and emerge as "this year's winner".
I actually have no problem with this concept because it can potentially give some characters the spotlight and recognition for once, whereas the manga and power-scaling threads are too focused on just a handful of particular individuals.
The results all seem pretty fair to me. I'd laugh if Natsu or Suzaku ended up in the Erza/Jellal threeway. That way they both get demolished and we don't have to worry about them anymore.
Honestly, it matches what you see all over the Internet. FT as a verse is years ahead of BC in development. Yet folks have put characters like Yami over FT top dogs since his fight with Patri. Grey flat out says he doesn’t want to take on a healthy and ready Mira, and it doesn’t sway folks opinions at all. People reject light magic being LS in fairy tail bc it’s shaped like a blade or because of how Mashima drew a turning beam, but accepted in other verses where they are literally throwing light shaped into full on swords. Discussion is important to bridge those gaps, but you never really change other peoples perceptions. I’m sure there will be more upsets. The trick to enjoying this stuff is finding the differences exciting instead of frustrating. It’d be a pretty dead board if we all agreed. I like it here because for the most part it feels like folks do a good job of that. Unlike other communities.
Gray has DeS magic, he doesn't need to be on her level to win.
But I guess it's a matter of perspective. Like, Jellal ties Erza, despite PoF-near-dead Erza smashing a better version of Jellal's best spell (Deus Sema) cast by a better wizard. Her performances when she goes all out are more impressive than Jellal's, who tends to be propped up by hype. The only issue with Erza (and this even happens to Natsu) is due to high volume panel time we see her struggle or be defeated by lesser opponents or circumstances, ie plot. Then again, plot does also help her achieve some high tier feats. Leaves a lot of room for interpretation.
Gray legit can't beat Mira without a handicap. At this point it's a joke to think Gray can beat Mira when everything in the Aldo arc proved Gray cannot handle a healthy Mira let alone a healthy Mira that goes out of BSS. This was proven foremost by actual feats and Gray himself admitted to being the inferior combatant. There is legit nothing to discuss since everything was laid out clear cut and dry that Gray <<<< Mira and it was shown when Mira stalemated the dude who fodderize Gray while in her weakest takeover to date.
Gray vs Skullion the next round? Oh another canon fight that already happened in which Gray was obviously the inferior of the two. Wonder if Darkness wank will carry Gray again or will Skullion win and show the obvious downplay of Mira's capabilities.
Erza tie-ing with Jellal???? Holy hell, another ridiculous outcome. Jellal wank continues to persist.
I know y'all mods try to make an objective tournament but it is clear as day that no one gives a shit about the rules lol.
Although many fights are "unfair" due to preferences of favoritism between characters, at least Erza and Jellal I agree for both, since they both love each other.
While Natsu and Suzaku certainly seem like top contenders for now, I would like to caution everyone that they are definitely not going to go unchallenged.
A few other characters still have a reasonable chance at winning this tournament, for example: Hakune and Gildartz.
Remember, we're not just purely ranking characters in terms of their power/strength. If you can outspeed or disable your opponent quick enough, you can effectively gain the upper hand by preventing them from ever reaching the peak of their power altogether.
There are many different elements that come into play for a tournament, and that even includes hax abilities.
For instance, up to this point, I see no counter for Hakune's MP freezing technique unless you have the ability to somehow change your MP to halve her Freezing Spiritual Art... And only Gray has shown feats of accomplishing this currently in the manga.
We saw how Hakune was successful in freezing Natsu's and Gray's MP when they were unprepared, so it is quite plausible for it to actually work against a reasonably strong opponent.
If anything, this tournament is far from being boring or predictable. If we look at every scenario objectively and without bias, there are numerous ways that these results can unfold.
You don't realize how many people vote just for their favorites/strongest, not by actual feats or logic. So no, Natsu and Gildarts won't get any challenge here.
I wonder how far featless Jellal will go with so many feats on his back.
I want him to go up against DF Natsu.
he is clearly portrayed to be above DF Natsu during ToH and nothing contradicts that in the present cause of that hYpE PoRtRaYaL @Ramen@Jko ready to see the bluehaired GOAT having 15 - 20 votes against DF Natsu or Suzaku
speaking of Natsu, does Natsu have his Wolverine healing ability he uses once in the blue moon when Hiro thinks it's cool??? @Kiki@Axiomus@Brandish μ
