Getting first place against so many other good series is always nice. Plus now UU is in the same position as former first place holders of this price, so it is likely that UU will experience a similar growth rate as the other series did who usually doubled their sales after receiving said price.

if you try to kill Rip because you want to heal yourself, it will still activate due to UNREPAIR condition. If you willing throw away your life, UNREPAIR won't activate. BIG BRAIN

Rip's ability is Unrepair. This means that any wound he inflicts on an enemy cannot heal, not naturally, not by medical means, but also not by supernatural means. There is however one caveat to this: if you manage to heal a wound without the intent to heal, it doesn't trigger. For example, Andy managed to do this earlier by regenerating wounds that Rip inflicted either as a form of movement (his leg jump trick) or as a means to attack Rip (with his Parts Bullet). Because the main goal wasn't to heal the wound, Unrepair didn't trigger.

Now after Andy shot him Rip informed him that Unrepair will cease working if he dies, meaning any prior wounds inflicted are no longer unhealable. The reason he did this is because now Andy cannot even try to kill him, as by killing him you would be able to heal, meaning that trying to kill him is an attempt at healing, meaning Unrepair will trigger and prevent you from attacking Rip. This is what he meant with his line there.

This also ties into his second line: The more you desire to live, the more I negate you and your sorry life.

What Rip failed to account for though is that Andy wasn't trying to kill him to be able to heal himself, but rather to help Fuuko, meaning Unrepair didn't trigger and Andy was still able to attack him."

11. Undead Unluck: sad to have to rank it so low, but I have to admit that the fight has confused me and I didn't understand completely what happened. Perhaps a second reading is necessary?

Yeah, this is why the Guards were unable to stop the bleeding because it would have negated the wounds which cannot be repaired or hindered no matter what, even the mere intention to save your own life gets negated by this power. In other words it ain't just a power that fucks up the natural process of the body but also the mind.

A bit missing though. It's true Andy was able to shoot Rip but it was not done to "help Fuuko" as that would have counted as "healing" as well thus would have resulted in failure. What he did was even crazier and really shows the new kid being made of the same stuff as Fuuko and Andy:

So Andy using Rip as an "obstacle which happened to be in the way of the real target" similar but different to his previous healing use of his power by aiming to hurt/kill Rip thus ignoring the rule of Rip's power. This is why we see Fuuko pulling at Chi-kun's arm to move him outta the way else at least his leg would have been busted. And this is why Chikara's power was so important to be diagonal meaning Rip was right between the shooter and his intended target and since Andy aimed to "hurt someone else" Rip's power was like "yeah, I see no healing anywhere" and didn't activate.

I am a bit ashamed to admit that In the last page I missed the hole in the chest of Unrepair and I wasn't understanding where Andy's finger was directed at. Now it all makes sense.
Man, what a silly series. It has the potential to become something big in the future.

It did won first price in that newcomer manga competition and it got a shit ton of fanart from japanese artists so I think it is on a good way to become big in a couple years. I sure hope so because i wanna see this run full course and be a great growing experience for the still new mangaka.

Thank you for this, James! I re-read the chapter with that in mind and I finally get it! And it definitely makes a lot more sense to post in this topic. XD

Undead Unluck has been one of the most consistently enjoyable manga I've read in some time. The sheer creativity of it all really makes me want to support the series when it's released officially.

I find it interesting that Andy talked about people who get the job done that he met thanks to his experience while Rip who is much younger was surprised to see such people. Another contrast between them perhaps .

So, do you think that Rip will die or not?

If nobody shows up who can heal Unrepair's big hole in the chest or if Rip himself doesn't have the power to heal himself (like healing his own wounds means deactivating his power thus saving Fuuko) then he is dead for sure. I start to think that Gina and Rip are there to showcase their powers so that when they are shown later in the story again carried by other humans we already know how they function. Both Unchange and Unrepair are pretty damn powerful so it is possible we might see them being used either for or against Union in the future depending on who the powers after Gina and Rip dying.

That would be one gripe with the chapter tbh. Like sure, the battle sequence was epic and all, but this would feel too early to get rid of such an interesting antagonist.
Then again, I am also a Gina fan, so
I have to admit, his power is too broken. But I think any of the other Union members can take him on easily. So, I hope he is still alive. Latla healing him would be

I don't think Latla got that kind of power, her power is more like a ward making sure that things don't go the way as expected and she manipulates them in her favor as long as she can see it. Honestly though I really do like Latla as well, her face when the meteorite was coming was funny as was her "get serious" comment to Rip when he asked if they should also kiss. XD
Hope she doesn't die as well. Either she gets saved by the other two or she becomes a prisoner of Union or even a new member of them.

When he uses his power sometimes you can see a tiny bloodstream running down from his eyepatch and sometimes he licks it. Ch. 24 for example when he cut off Andy's hands.

Yeah and sometimes he licks without any blood coming (maybe it was forgotten and should have been added?). Really wonder about his power condition. Like did he got that wound when he got that power or shortly before the power chose him and it stayed like that or did he inflict a wound himself and has some sort of device hidden in the eyepatch to sting him whenever he wants to use his power/needs to use his power?

Andy was captured 50 years ago, after 40 years he escaped the Union, and Titania UNTOUCHABLE possibly joined 10 years ago
Which mean beside Void and Gina, there was at least one more Negator that died assuming there is always 10 Initial Seat


I think there will be a 12th seat sometime in the future, to represent a Clock,maybe as early at the next 3 months quest

i dont mind Unrepair gone. the power is too deadly, not visually cinematic and not much use else,.
But i want BLADE RUNNER to stay, someone should take it.. its too good to be left..

and it will be perfect for TOP.. i magine now TOP can run at any level, ground, water (possibly) and now fly on air..
also TOP mostly fight with his leg/kicking style. blade runner can shoot blade. its match for heaven
but wait, did you need to ampute your leg to use it???
