Thanks! What's funny is, this whole emphasis on the power of love is reminding me slightly of the tired old shonen "power of friendship" trope. I will give UxU a pass on this one though, as it's been a "concepts have power" story this entire time.

Reading today's, I like the new interpretation of death - it's about being forgotten. Pretty similar to the Coco movie. Andy's death comes when Fuuko forgets him.
Yeah, this could have come off as extremely cheesy (and I mean, yes, it still can be) but due to the series being what it is, it actually feels earned.

I also love the new interpretation of death. I just love how the moment from the Autumn arc came full circle with Fuuko going into Andy's memories to teach him about what death means, and now it turns out that Andy will "die" because of what Fuuko taught him. Not going to lie, I pumped my first when I hit that page. XD

Read all chapters starting from the Idol arc. Way too rushed, but it's decent despite that unlike a few other series I read whose final arcs were garbage.

Maybe Tozuka was too ambitious? The number of characters didn't help too.

So Soul simply restored Fuuko memories and is still going to be an antagonist along with Ruin. I guess it's because of the pacing, but this character has been very disappointing.

He’s not going to become an antagonist🤨

He’s going to stop future antagonists with Ruin🧐

While unsatisfying, both Soul and Unruin's conclusion make sense. Soul's job is to observe and protect the world validated by humanity. Unruin will...spend the rest of his life (he's lost his negation) preventing the ruin of that world as well.

Soul continuing to exist makes sense. Especially considering Sol & Luna didn't END the supernatural's influence on the world, merely ended torment by Rules, turning them into impartial Laws. Those laws, and the tablet, still exist - any human who discovered them and comprehended them could EASILY grab an orb, declare "existing laws of this world are now personified by monster-like sentient beings called Rules" and restart the cycle.

Much, MUCH more character development of Soul and of Luna & Sol would've made this ending satisfying. It saddens me it was so rushed.

Yes, not necessarily for Sol and Luna but Soul definitely needed more.

I don't know, I think the few pages Sol & Luna got for their backstory was tantalizing but in the end, unsatisfying because it was underexplored. Why did they conflict with their brethren, leading to their exile? If the point of their exile was basically a learning opportunity, why weren't they taken back at the end of their own journey? Why did they just...vanish, passively becoming the Moon & Sun? Luna's conclusion was only saying "ok, you win, we'll stop tormenting you, we'd prefer that to dying, live your lives without our interference". Also, didn't Sol DIE? Andy cut him in HALF.

I wanted to see the existential and philosophical consequences of The Creator being surpassed by his Creation. I want the parallels to parenthood further explored.

Soul, oh my GOD, Soul was the most interesting of them. He was the only Rule born of Luna. He represents the intersection of the physical and the spiritual. Souls are the concept that underpins literally all of the most interesting concepts and elements in the character arcs in this story.

So I guess I'm disappointed in the author not further developing Luna & Sol, I was ALREADY hooked and wanted to see how would grow as characters. With regards to Soul, I never was hooked, just curious. He was never developed beyond being enigmatic.

Please, please PLEASE, author of UndeadXUnluck. PLEASE license the rights to your story and fictional world to a video game company. A GOOD one. Because it has absolutely crazy potential in this avenue. I'm so disappointed the anime didn't blow up, but a video game (series!) would give the potential to fully flesh out your world. Think about it!
  • real-time combat system with insanely varied stacking combinations based on the negators in the mix
  • groundhog day style loops with little differences in each iteration that change the world considerably.
  • divergences in story based on "you might win, you might lose, and the plot changes based on the outcome" nature of the quests, rewards, and penalties - think of how "Slay the Princess" works.
  • God you could even include dating sim elements, because it's the degree of connection each negator builds with each other over time that ends up fueling "heart" at the end. Imagine how it would hit the player if they had an entire romance arc which then was negated by Ragnarok, and the next loop's conditions basically making that romance impossible to replicate.

And it's over. They took a while to get married.

Decent ending, nothing much to say. The series was at its peak during the Language arc IMO. Nico has been handled so well in the new loop, he became one of my favorite characters.

Agreed. Nico's introduction as an amateur scientist to Fuuko in this arc, and his fight with Language were my favorite moments. His character's just so fun. It was really nice to see the version of him that isn't traumatized by negator awakening.

I'm feeling kind of melancholy now. There's basically no ongoing manga remaining that really have my recurring interest. Naruto had an ok. FMA was absolutely fantastic. The less said about Bleach, the better. Demon Slayer's post-climax was super boring. At least Hell's Paradise's ending was good, but my god there's NOTHING LEFT NOW.

I'm going to go reread UxU.

The beginning of the new loop was great, but the rush towards the end was saddening. It was still good, but damn...UU could have been so much more!

Weird thing I just thought of with regards to Soul surviving, as a RULE no less, and not a law: telepathy (Nico using soul links to project his memories into Unsleep during the Language arc) astral projection, reincarnation, "Ki" based attacks which detach and fire off part of a soul - all the stuff Feng Kewlong used to power up his martial arts - ALL THAT STUFF IS STILL IN PLAY.

Dear freaking Lord. Undead x Unluck's universe has the spirit bomb. And telepathy.
//still sad we didn't get to see the full arc of Sol & Luna and only a teeny tiny bit of it.
