Buying the manga

Even though I enjoy following Vagabond online I had the chance to read the first 20 volumes at my local library (regular paperback). Holding books in your hands is much better.
So I want to buy the series and wondering if you know good online store or even what's the best format.
I've bought the first 5 volumes through eBay 2 years ago but they ended up being in Japanese.:facepalm
I've seen the Vizbig edition online
http://www.amazon.com/Vagabond-Vol-VIZBIG-Vizbig/dp/1421520540
Anyone has seen this format? If so, what's your take on it.

Maybe something like "You're often said to have slain nearly a hundred men" ?

Re: Buying the manga

Check your local comic store if you want to buy at a 10$ a volume. Many don't know about Vagabond, so comic stores usually have the manga in stock.

Re: Buying the manga

Okay Vizbigz, are great, if you dont mind the extra size it is 2/3 the price of buying in single Viz Signitures, colour pages are also included. there have been 5 Vizbig realeases of vagabond to date (volumes 1-15) the 6th VizBig comes out on january 15th, i have both because im crazy and got sick of waiting for the vizbigs to come out, but its your choice, ill also add vizbigs have a bigger cut off area and are made from better quality paper. if i were you just go to borders or kinokuninya and check them out for yourself see what you like, if you have limited funds and you want to buy them all buy vizbigs 1-5 get the rest in viz signitures, or if you want them all to look the same you can just wait or spend extra money and get them all in siggs your choice

Re: Vagbond 287 Discussion / 288 Prediction Thread

The translation is correct i didnt notice at the time, but after you posted the topo i looked over the raws, perhaps there has been a previous mistranslation but i certainly dont remember mushashi bragging or telling people about how many men he has killed

the only thing to that affect is hes thinking when does the cycle of blood end, after 10 men, 100, 1000 i guess it just goes on until i die

Re: Vagbond 287 Discussion / 288 Prediction Thread

Anyway, on his website Inoue said he had to rush to finish the chapters on time and that the book version is expected to be different from the weekly chapters, as he was far from being satisfied with his work. So there may have been a slight mistake in the words he chose, even though the Japanese to English translation is correct.

ok, it might be more something people often say about Musashi as Itto heard the rumors everywhere.
With so much work goint into these, it's understandable that Inoue needs to rush for the deadline (even with all his breaks).

Re: Buying the manga

thanks, I think I'll end up getting the Vizbig. I don't mind waiting since we got this website...
I saw the regular volumes at a local Canadian store and they were about 20$ each. A bit too much for me.

I dunno about an anime....just doesn't seem like it would work well without ruining it.

Re: Vagabond anime/OVA, good or bad?

The problem is there has been so many TV adaptions of Musashi that one for Vagabond might be redundant. I want an anime for REAL.

Re: Vagabond Hang Out Thread

Vagabond is a samurai epic by the mangaka of Slam Dunk. It's a fictionalized biography of "the sword saint" Miyamoto Musashi, a samurai from the early Edo period and a legendary figure in Japanese history. One of the best drawn, best written currently serialized manga. Do read, you will not be disappointed.

Re: Vagabond Hang Out Thread

But beware, it's a seinen. No super powers, etc. lots of philosophy in it. Best manga book I've ever read, by miles.
