Well gold ranges from a yellowish to an orange hue. And since it can be iridiscent the color changes depending on the lighting.
Here I think it's just an issue of the coloring, like @Yakkun pointed out it could be because Suzuki used different pens, or even digital softwares to do the coloring, and they're not always the same. But I like that he appears to have gold hair, not orange hair per say.
Again it would fit with sunshine quite well. And yes it is his armor from the flashback, but I'm not sure if I like how the chainmail on his arms looks, if that's chainmail.

Either way I really like the colors, they're not too bright, and his scheme (gold hair, blue eyes) is also reflected on his armor. Good job Suzuki.

I feel like Escanor's speed is something they may want to limit!
Also... I don't think he really needs the armor does he XD
Considering he might just melt it :P

What if the anime's black and red is actually him having charred his own armor after wearing it just once XD

Lol no he doesn't need armor and honestly he should be half naked all the time.

Dunno but I just imagined his night form wearing the armor, he'll be burried inside it.

Yeah, that sems pretty funny to think about and i agree he should be showing off his abs all the time... because he cannot afford to lose to Ban in that department, especially when he is the most muscular character in the series!

I bet Dolor punches Escanor and he takes only to punch the dude whilst he uses his Diamond Skin and Escanor just sighs as you watch Dolor spew blood and hit the deck

One day! In a side story or perhaps the main plot, we will see him crawling out of his armor for a moment just to be funny :P

You'll be happy to know that Escanor is a ginger. I just opened the cover in Photoshop and his hair does look orange.

Maybe the colors in the cover were toned down. It does look rather blueish.

Perhaps, i do like the blue and gold though... he looks like HE should be the next ruler of Britannia not Arthur XD

But yeah his hair still has an orange hue, it's just that maybe it was colored lighter than before, or since the image is low quality the color balance isn't great. But either way I definitely like his color scheme, especially the lighter orange/gold tone.

Because his armor is gold he kinda looks like the Gold saints from Saint Seiya. He should be Aiolia, because they both represent the lion, and he also has blond/ginger hair.

In the recent chapter there is a miniature caption of the volume cover and the colours their seem more saturated and warmer and also give his hair that orange ginger sheen again so I assume it is consistent. The chapter cover itself, too, by the way.

It's funny how this one has Merlin then all the others now have the commandments... i suppose i would prefer all the commandments pop up then Escanor (Especially if Escanor's character has a lot more importance than we first thought!)

It'd be awesome if we got that or a split cover page between Escanor's night and day forms, with Rhitta in the background of the day form and Rosa in the background of the night one. I think that would work as well!

Both her and Therion are dead, but he had a scenario in mind where they're both alive.

I'd actually prefer having those two, than having some nameless characters be introduced in the festival. They could have been pretty nice additions, not to mention that Dolores looks so badass, and her personality changed too. Plus we always thought there was a chance she was alive back when that chapter came out.Her death was rather ambiguous. But now she's confirmed to be dead :/
