Volume One is actually the Kodansha edition. The Shueisha version looks the same as the edition VIZ released in the states.
Biomega was originally serialized in Kodansha's Young Magazine (weekly), after one volume it moved to Shueisha's Ultra Jump, where it completed serialization. Nihei has since returned to Kodansha, Knights of Sidonia is serialized in Afternoon, also the magazine that serialized Blame. For whatever reason all available raws are taken from the now out of print Kodansha edition, thus the Shueisha version of the cover is hard to come by. This is the best I could find:

Anyone who has not read Blame, Biomega, and everything else by Nihei should do so immediately. Unquestionably some of the best cyberpunk manga ever released, every bit as good as Ghost in the Shell and Akira, maybe better.
