Look at us, gossiping about fictional characters.....
Probably they were a thing... Glad Oda bring give this more importance.. what a waste of pages it would've been. We already got Senor Pink's flashback. It was such a waste of chapters, doesnt matter how cool it was...

Do you think that pink's back story was unnecessary?
I found it quite enjoyable, one of the higligts of the arc.
On the other hand, Oda could have off panneled the tontatta chapters and the birdcage chapters to make the arc more fluid.

Dressrossa was way too long imo, it could have been half as long and tell the same story I remember reading every week only to have 30 pannels of birdcage people or tontattas running again and again. This prevented me from enjoying the arc to the fullest and to this day I havent found the courage to read through it a second time.

It was a waste in terms of the fact that we wont see Senor Pink ever again... I dont think we'll get anymore flashbacks of VIola and Mingo either... Yea, it was good in terms of the fact that Oda was ready to dedicate a chapter for a pirate who'd never feature again.. I personally didn't think it was bad, but dont think it changed my liking towards the character.

I think it was passion, even if Doflamingo is an evil maniplulator, he's also a damn charismatic guy.

He's one of the few captains, like Luffy or White Beard with a crew ready to die for him.
And not by terror like Kaido or Big Mom, Monet and Vergo sacrefice their life with a smile.

Viola could definitively fall in love for him, as much as hating him.
I feel she was ready to die while trying to killing him to forgive the feeling she had for her family enemy.

We saw (near the pool) that Doflamingo could have any chick he desire, I don't think he was particulary interest (beside her power) in love with Viola.
He told her that she was always a passionate one.
And In Dressrosa women always kill the men they love :D

You are right about this. The thing is the Donquixote Family had a mental illness theme. They all have some kind of real mental illness, and Doflamingo even incorporates the grand "nature vs nurture" debate that has been shaping psychology and the social sciences for the past 100 years.

The way it is implied from their dialogue, Viola suffered from Stockholm syndrome.

So, do you think doflamingo and violet were friends with benefit or it's just violet who had to do her "job" as subordinate of doflamingo?
This was likely what was left on the cutting room floor. And rightfully so, no need to bring rape into a shonen story. One Piece gets heady enough with subject matter as is, and usually the more adult themes are well-earned- especially bigotry, racism, and fascism. But I'm a staunch objector of using sexual assault as seasoning to make a bad guy appear more bad. Unless the story is actually about that subject matter, there's no place for it, especially in a story targeted for young boys.

Doffy is evil enough as is, maybe one of the most evil villains in the story, which is saying something. I'm reminded of how Freddy Kruger went from child murderer in the original movies, to child molester and then murderer in the shitty remakes. Like... how did that enhance the mythos of the character? It's just edgelord bullshit unless the story itself tackles the subject matter head on, which it doesn't. And should have had no part using as 'villain seasoning'.

Really? I always took it as Viola very patiently waiting for her chance to murder the shit out of Doffy. Also, "stockholme syndrome" ain't really a thing. Abusive relationships are one thing, but Viola always struck me as just biding her time while never being actually devoted to Doffy like the rest of his crew.

That's one of the reasons nixing the idea of a charismatic usurper king villain having his sexy way with his sexy captive princess whose dad, the king, he forced murder a bunch of civilians... was probably a good thing. No reason to introduce that into the story whatsoever. Between what he did to Riku, and what he did to everyone with Sugar's power, Doffy was plenty evil enough. He was *well-seasoned* with evil. One Piece covers plenty of ground, let's not introduce the idea of coerced sex (a term that is itself the 'best case scenario' of that idea that got cut).
