Irie defeated Atobe in endurance match. While beating Kaji and Date despite inferior physical strength.

Irie is really strange. I still go with Ryoma though

Ryoma!
Irie is very talented player, but he was working on Tokugawa (TBH, I expect to see something from Tokugawa that related to him, and Oni)
Yet he shows himself, as someone who can be very helpful, meaning, he helped Atobe to from camp up until now, and yet was able to teach something new to Atobe. who knows, maybe he could have show him something new. but he always plays as much as he and his opponent needs.
comment from Tane: I hate to play vs Irie.
Though Irie could have ended up with surprising us, but he was away at least 1 year in case of Tokugawa. and I think he was happy to be here.
So, a part from his tennis, his personality developed as someone who is compare to Ryoma has less, tenacity or obsession on winning and plus all of that, Ryoma is son of tennis. and etc you know.
Still I think he can surprise me with showing his Kijin if he ever face Ryoma:)
Ryoma now got some basic stat which is considerable, yet I don't clinch on this, to measure players ability, I mean man, Irie power is 1? this is very abnormal, Ryoma is 3 which is normal on his age and size, Irie then has even less power than 12 years old. anyway:
Ryoma now has enough tech to face some players that he used to tricked them like "big bang guy" or finding something like TNK to overcome them.
He beated Fuji, which I believe he didn't use all of his cards (or at least we didn't get to chance see them all) but it was fair and square.
So, I think he can beat Irie, with his current tools.
But if needed he can walk through the path of Asura or etc. To avoid any doubts.

No one is mentioning this. But I really think Ryoma practicing with USA Hsers made him stronger too.

Based on statements, It seemed like Kiko always play against Ryoma. (And by extension against Dodo and Alan too) (Maybe even Ralph)

Kiko: " What's wrong Ryoma, Usually you don't have problem returning that kind of shot"

Irie is a strong Player. But I doubt he is even stronger than USA's#3 or #4.

Consequently, Ryoma have experience playing against players stronger than Irie.

As for direct skills vs skills. Samurai, Kijin, True TNK, Glowing shot, and Hope is too much for Irie to handle.

In fact, a hot take can be said that Irie might be just in the level of Ludovic who Ryoma already convincingly defeated without using all of his arsenals.

My bad, I was busy at work and didn't open the poll. It's been fixed.

I gave Irie a very very slight edge against Yukimura. Imo Ryoma's own TnK and varied repertoire is enough to win this, although he will probably fall victim of Irie's acting (wheras Yukimura likely wouldn't). Since it's a 3 sets match Ryoma should have time to recover and might even outlast Irie.

Irie walking over Kaji (before even activating TnK?) is quite a feat, though. His base tennis is probably absurdly strong. I'm not sure he can return Hope but since it wasn't a factor against Fuji I wouldn't discard the possibility.

The gap would be much more noticeable if we were to consider that Ryoma has dominated his Ki Jin, as it's likely on Speed or Technique (with that he'll not only seal one of Irie's biggest weapons, but actually be able to attack it).

Ryoma should win this yes, Iris’s acting might, might affect Ryoma but since he can foresaw situations and Ryoma never gives up and his mental is incredible he wouldn’t fall too much for it honestly.

If Ryoma uses Kijin and Allez along with his other techniques Irie wouldn’t be able to overcome that much since that is more than enough to seal and give him the edge over Irie’s best fortes.

Stamina wise Ryoma outlast Irie by a far margin although Irie has very good stamina, Ryoma’s just better.

Yeah Irie walked over Kaji but current Ryoma can probably do the same. In a three set match Ryoma wins 2-1 and if he goes all out he might beat Irie in straight sets. Honestly at this point Irie shouldn’t be too much of a problem for Ryoma as his huge arsenal gives Irie a run for his money.

Ryoma is the 6th best player in the Japan team. After Genius 5. Well, 7th if you count After Romeo Match Atobe.

1. Byo
2. Toku
3. Oni
4. Tane
5. Duke
6. Atobe
7. Ryoma
(Atobe and Ryoma have argument against Duke)
8. Fuji (almost beat Ryoma if not for Wind)
9. Kintarou
10. Irie/Yukimura

Irie is fighting for 10th spot. While Ryoma has an argument against Duke for 5th.

So, yeah there is actually a slight gap between the talent of the two.

Ryoma wins this in straight sets.

Irie is without a doubt "G5 level". He fodderize Kaji who is legit #5 which suggest stronger than whatever this non-serious version of Ohmagari we get. But the point is that Irie is far stronger than #5 and below in ranking. He's up there with Duke/Tanegashima at least, unless there is a middle tier step between #4 and #5 former ranking.

That said, I think Ryoma still win.

Not gonna lie. Kaji performance as #5 even temporarily is very subpar. He was fodderized by both Oni and Irie.
(And yeah I think there is a gap between Tane/Duke and Kaji)

So, if we think Kaji is legit #5. Then, we can assume (?) Irie can fodderized Ohmagari, Kimi, Tohno, and Mouri too.

(I leave out Ochi cause he is former #4.)

However, The mere fact that doubles battle affect the badges ranking put more variety on the rankings. Ohmagari himself thinks he is just carried by Tane to #6. And he only deserved #9 so he reverse his badge.

But I agree Irie is in that G5 level but he is the weakest. We all agreed that on separate thread.

And yes Ryoma is in the Tane/Duke Tier now. So he beats Irie.

Ryoma VS Tane is interesting. But Ryoma already lost to Duke here. So, he will definitely lose the poll against tane too I believe.

Kaji stats are revealed in the 10.5 and his position do seem legit. Maybe Ohmagari is also another exception with the reveal in the latest chapter...

Japan is filled with exceptions lol.

It is legit. But I think there is a gap after the real genius 5 (Byo, Toku, Oni, Tane, and Duke) and Kaji. And Irie too as he dominated kaji. So the Genius 6 I think has a gap on Kaji.

But Kaji might be able to beat 6 - 10 convincingly

Lol. Ochi will soon join that exception thing. He is hyped as hell since intra selection tournament. Former #4. lol

Suggestions for Next Matchups

Tokugawa VS Ralph

Tokugawa Vs QP

Romeo VS Ryoma

Bertie VS Fuji

Bismarck VS Amadeus
--- Double Post Merged, ---

Tanegashima vs Romeo is good too.

Bismarck beats Atobe in our prev matchups., So, I wonder if it is the same case when we cross match it to Romeo VS Tanegashima.

For me its Amadeus clearly. Amadeus is scaled to Byodouin prior to getting his upgrade vs Volk, I find it hard to believe that Bismarck would push Amadeus to a tiebreak. Amadeus has much more experience as a pro and with Darkness he would eventually find Bismarck’s weaknesses, and unlike Ralph he isn’t the type of guy that he can return a shot the second time he faces it or quickly erases his own flaws which increases Darkness effectiveness even more.

Bismarck is a master of tiebreaks but Amadeus is on another level, he has a higher level of play plus his experience would allow him to deal with the Kick serves and Spinless sway ball (which against Amadeus is futile as he doesn’t rely on spin, maybe it would work to prevent him from hitting Ballena that is a topspin lob?).

Amadeus takes this, if he goes all out it wouldn’t be even close tbh

Not sure. I think Bismarck is a bit underrated, overall.

Re: experience. One of the earlier translations of Konomi's Q & A said that Amadeus would lose every single time against Volk because he wouldn't be able to score past his defense, while remarking that the reason for this is little experience. He JUST turned pro. Meanwhile Bismarck's profile literally starts with "The experienced player...".

On the offensive he plays similarly to Amadeus, attacking weak points (although, instead of having cool Dark Side he has high perception and directs the pace with strong judgement and his big serves). How will Amadeus defend against this?

While Bismarck doesn't have an ability like Ralph, his raw defense alone may easily be better thank the American's: his profile states that there is no shot he cannot return, whereas there is nothing like that in Ralph's. I don't think Spinless Sway can counter Ballena, but its erratic movement may slow down Amadeus' attacks (like it did vs Duke/Fuji, allowing him to win 5 games on his own).

It is true that Amadeus is close with Byoudonin. However, I think many would view Byoudonin as stronger than him even without the upgrade.

What does that means? It means if Amadeus in Thailand, he would be competing for #2 spots with Tanegashima. And who actually beat Tanegashima in singles? Bismarck. Admittedly I would have argue that Amadeus can beat Tanegashima too. But really, these two are probably pretty close to each other.

That said I still don't think #1 of the world former #2 country would lose to Bismarck. For that I would go with Amadeus

Amadeus easily cos he was named as top 3 along with Volk and Medanore. I'm not really sure if we have much to go by beyond this.

Isn't this relative? Amadeus is inexperienced compared to pros, while Bismarck is very experienced compared to non-pros.

Actually, the best technique Bismarck shown is not spinless sway imo

I think it is his Kick Serve

Tanegashima who is said that "can return any kind of shots" (similar to Bismarck) actually can't return any of Bismarck's Kick serve. Didn't Bismarck Aced Tane twice or thrice? I forgot.

However Spinless Sway can maybe slow down barrelina. So, it will be a big factor.

Also again Bismarck is a "skilled eagle who hide its talon". So maybe, he have some more hidden moves aside from Kick Serve?

Having said all of that,

Amadeus is actually equal to Ralph imo. (Though the former lost) and I think Ralph is stronger than Bismarck. So by Transitive ABC scaling, I think Amadeus will take this. But it wil be close.

However, experience is a thing I agree.

I have a fun guess. I think:

Amadeus Beats Bismarck, but Bismarck Beats Tatsuta

(Even if Tatsuta is as strong as Amadeus)

The reason is Tatsuta doesn't have the experience. If that makes sense.

Another note as scaling

Remember that Amadeus is seen as equal to Ralph

And Ralph literally beat Ryoga (without Consume) 6-1 or 6-2 in the First set.

Kinda implying Ryoga needed to use Consume to beat Ralph imo. Ngl. Which means Ryoga will need Consume to beat Amadeus too.

I am not sure Ryoga needs consume to beat Bismarck though

But Kuraraga is as strong as Amadeus and Peter cannot be far behind given that he played against USA. Does that mean that Switzerland's #2 and #3 are stronger than Germany's #2, despite the fact that the latter country is stronger?

Was he? I don't remember that line. I remember Byoudouin wanting to play 3 guys, not necessarily the strongest.

Could very well be relative. I just find it very noteworthy that Bismarck's whole tennis is based on judgement thanks to his perception and experience, so saying Amadeus has more because he has been a Pro for a couple more months doesn't sit right with me.

Japan cannot really do much against Bismarck's serves. The games they broke were all on Sieg's service games, and the point Tanegashima got against him in the Tie-break was after Kirihara's unexpected return.

Why is Ralph stronger than Bismarck?

Ryoga cannot "not use" Consume. If he plays seriously, it activates. He was likely not even trying in that first set, hoping it was enough to beat Ralph without stealing his tennis.

Maybe

Germany (We use pre aura QP) VS Switzerland

1. Volk > Amadeus
2. Bismarck = Tatsuta
3. PRE AURA QP = Peter
4. Tezuka > Albert???
5. Bertie > Henri
6. Dankmar = Randy ???

??? So I think Germany really beats them in rank.

With the new translation on statement regarding talents, Germany probably actually beat Switzerland in ranking imo. I think that's why Konomi decide to make America dunk on Switzerland (It would have been over 3-1 if America didn't give Swiss the pity win) and then have Spain dunk on that America 3-0. Otherwise, Germany would have been the final boss. Konomi feel the needs to create something that at least seem on par with Germany. And a team that double dunk on the team that can dunk on the world #2 seems like that solution. That's my theory anyways.

There is a chance that Spain MIGHT be stronger than Germany. But I'm having a hard time imagining anyone better than Volk and any pairs better the the pros pair in Spain so... I'll just say it seem on par. Although Ryoga probably can beat Volk due to him being Konomi's love child or something.

Going back on topic,

Bismarck Service Game is his bread and butter.

So it is a question if Amadeus can break serve.

The spinless sway is such a wildcard because it is only used once by Bismarck against Duke andFuji.

So, we dont know how strong the shot is on the offensive. It might be only a defensive shot?
