IMO the 2 series that really shouldn't care about TOC placement are ONE PIECE and Kochikame.. I mean OP could actually get a permanent place in 1st place (Or any other spot of the magazine, though I think being the first manga -after the one with the opening color pages, obviously- is good?) and Kochikame get the permanent spot at the end of the magazine.. Its not like either of them are getting cancelled, for very different reasons, though, but I think Kochikame is gonna end when its mangaka dies, ONE PIECE on the other hand will end in Oda's life span.. It has a finite story, unlike Kochikame which (I have heard) is episodic... Of course Kochikame's mangaka (Which name escapes me right now) could pretty much said ..Meh I want to end this now.. But I think he is going for longest manga EVER

I think Kochikame is already the longest manga ever, but he can't end it now, because second place is only 10 volumes behind. It's amazing that he can do an episodic manga for over 1600 chapter/170 volumes! I agree that he should get the permanent last place in the TOC though.

According to what I could find, this is the longest running manga in general done by one author:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sennin_Buraku
It ran from October 1956 to the present.

But that's a strip, not a series in a magazine.
That honor goes to Golgo 13.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golgo_13
Started in January of 1969.

Kochikame, however, has the largest number of volumes:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_manga_series_by_volume_count
I think because Kochikame is a weekly series and Golgo 13 is bi-weekly.

As long as Mago is out of the bottom 5, I'm satisfied with any TOC. :p I'm also pleased about Reborn, Beelzebub and Magico's rankings. The only blemish is Enigma's position. The first arc seems to be wrapping up so if the readers were getting tired or something, they can be assured of something new soon- I think.

More from T:
2011-27 Lead CP: Sket Dance
CP: Magico, Bleach
1-shot by Asou (the Psychic manga again)
A lead cover for Sket Dance? Awesome. It hardly gets any covers so more power to it.

EDIT: The Naruto cover looks pretty nice. :)

I don't think that One Piece is even ranked, I mean, in the last six months One Piece has sold 23 million copies, more than all the other manga together, when you're the king something like the ToC is nothing.
I don't think it applies only to "the king"; I mean, Bleach was really good back then in the day, and based on how volumes are sold, even if it won't be ranked high, its still won't be cancelled because the sales of volumes are high, heh.

Aw. Gintama's sorta low. Better than Bleach, but still quite low. Oh wait, that's from the clip show episode. That makes sense then. Anyway it'll be fun to see how the ratings do with the Kabukichou shitenou arc happening now. Sket's doing pretty well for a new comer, and I'm not ssure what to think with Beelze going up... Though it's returned from doing anime original content, so that may explain that too. I wonder how Beelze's DVD sales are doing? And is there a place to read about Gintama DVD preorders?

EDIT- Wait, that week was the end of the Sacchan glasses arc thingy. Man, is she unpopular or something?
EDIT2- Looking at other weeks ratings seems to indicate that Bleach and Gintama are the most volitile. I wonder what's up with that? Though I guess for them DVD sales are what matter.

Those are probably the longest running, but Kochikame is still the longest (most volumes).

And Magico having another CP is just pure <3<3<3

Asou is the author of Yuushagaku.
Oh man, Asou isn't the best artist, but if this has a smidgeon of Yushagaku's comedy (even if it's just a little bit in a non-comedy book) I will be a happy bunny

Also on pages of stuff about the TOC rankings, pure or otherwise: Y'all realise that the Weekly Jump Reader's Journal has years of reliable postings, right? In fact loads of notable people from the community and even THIS VERY thread have contributed to that 6 years+ archive of TOCs and other stuff.

... Oh god am I defending a livejournal? And one that was only offhandedly dismissed?

... What's wrong with me?

As a former poster of that LJ (sort of fell out of interest when this page got all the TOCs first I admit), I too admit that it is a great one that has a great archive regarding the history of the last 6+ (I swear longer but not sure, since I thought I was on one when DN/Gintama started) years.

Good old days ;)
Yeah IIRC it had TOCs back from the Death Note/Gintama/Reborn beginnings era.

I've only read the Jump Next 1-shot, and it was pretty nice. I haven't read the one(s) in WSJ though, due to the lack of scans.

Naruto has proven that another manga can consistently claim the top spot. The period from Sasuke vs. Itachi until Sasuke vs. Danzou had more number ones than OP did. Goes back to what Stranger said, a popular arc or character can completely change the TOC. Then again, not many series have characters as popular as Sasuke, which is basically what it would take to unseat OP on a regular basis.

Just watch, the second Kubo brings some Shinigami back, Bleach will be back in the top half of the magazine. Readers are punishing him for having no major fights, ignoring all of the most popular characters, and writing a six month training arc. He doesn't need to improve his writing or anything like that. Just get back to what everyone hated about the Hueco Mundo/Deicide arc , that is what his fans want.

Unfortunately Oda has a tendency to take breaks every once in a while but he deserves them, what with his wife and family plus all the research and special stuff he has to do for this massive franchise.

Guys, reading that Bleach has yet another color page or sth, is it just me or in the statistics Bleach is one of the titles which has the biggest number of "colors" in a whole year? Its a tendency or am I reading into this too much? Someone knows? thx in advance for reply.

Bleach does get a lot of color pages, but that's because Kubo draws pretty quickly. The color pages are not too complex anyway. If you compare them with Oda's,it becomes clear why Bleach has so many.
