Maybe because both of them target at different audience. Uchuu Kyoudai is focus on more mature audience, so they focus more on realistic and plot. St&rs is for teenage boys, and most of these audience needs some kind of mainstream, not mature story.

Yes I know. But I don't think that here we're all teenage boys and so we're able to find differences between them.
St&rs as far as now didn't do anything that other sci-fi did in the past. That's why I'm so astonished by this great reception (not on Jump, in general).

Hey now, you guys are underestimating the understanding of teenage boys. All I have to say is different strokes for different folks.

I'm looking forward to that Medaka colour, if it's not an anime announcement I'm gonna eat my hat. An unrealistic expectation? Definitely. But from this point onward, I'm going to expect that anime announcement from every colour that Medaka gets until it happens.

What I mean is that probably for Jump readers this is their first sci-fi manga. For a mature reader maybe not.

To be honest I don't trust the TOC at all. Theres absolutely no way that ST&RS is doing bad. It just got a color page last week so this rank makes no sense. I already had my doubts that TOC=rank, but this completely reinforced it.

It is quite possible it got a CP in WSJ's attempt to restore its rank. They do it for Kuroko all the time.

Colour pages aren't always indicative of the popularity of a series. Maybe they were trying to bring it back up.
Also, it's very possible that the chapter being ranked had a huge drop off of the fanbase, it was early in the series, so it's very possible.

That doesn't make sense because the quality of the series definitely has not dropped.

Again, different strokes for different folks. You may say that, and it might even be true, but the Japanese reading public that votes seems to have lost interest. Though, it could just be that chapter. We'll see next week.

Ha you and me both Cross. I'm still thinking it might not be properly announced before the beginning of next year but I will continue to hope that every color page will eventually be the one. If not that then at least I demand a Medaka Box art book to be announced with one of these color pages if it can't be an anime itself. /fanboy

Maybe not to you but to the Japanese readers it wouldn't surprise me. They have a habit of killing series like that and they could very well be tired of it.

It certainly sells on the level other Jump series tend to get animes at. It's been going a while, it's like almost 200 chapters long now, right?

I heard there going to be important announcement, so I think it might going to get anime (I don't think Kuroko will be fit for drama). Also, Kuroko doesn't even close to having 200 chapters; so far, it has total of 133 chapters.

Someone just pointed out to me that it;s only been a couple of week's since Medaka's last color page and given it hasn;t made any major rises in the rankings it;s possible there's an announcement behind it. This is around the time JUMP Festa OVA's are announced so that could be a possible announcement and it;s most likely the big announcement for Kuroko.

yep and that was me on a different site (or chat :P) anyway i really REALLY hope we get some medaka animation announcment...i really want too see it get a anime even though if gainax is doing it we wont see the epic kumagawa ;_;. speaking of which i hope they get the vomic voices since they did awesome during the vomics so heres hoping. as for kuroko its obviously a anime or ova announcment. incase anyones wondering today last year is when the beelzebub ova was announced so we will see the jump fiesta ova announcments soon if not next week and medaka box and kuroko are the the best bets as already stated.
