Well I think it lost 1st place to Naruto this week, didnt it?
And with HXH coming, it is very likely HXH will get 1st place *With no color page* being followed by One Piece in 2nd place..
I mean it has been like.. What 2-3 years since OP has been monopolizing 1st place??
Its obvious it will continue, in my opinion it would be better to just do what JUMP did with Jaguar/Kochikame and left OP unranked since it gonna continue anyway, and its kinda unfair for new series.

I heard that HxH will be back in 3 weeks and that T confirmed this! Is that true?
No... another fake
T never posted that, someone took T's post about going to buy Jump and changed it to HxH 3 week bullshit, and posted on 2ch

Nothing to do with T

まだパラ見だけど

ナルト人気投票ないし。

ハンタどこ?見つからないよ。
Just flipped through the page. No poll for Naruto character popularity. And no Hunter (HXH?). <= just some extra detail with nothing to do with the plot?

From now on, will be dificult to believe in the ToCs posted earlier.
This ToC, for example, seems a bit strange to me... Toriko, Reborn and Sket so low based on the last weeks, I don't know.
And the fact to mentions Dois Sol color page, when it shouldn't have it, make me believe it's a fake.

I'll wait a confirmation.

Take a look here
this was posted for real
sometimes using the quote people in the 2ch make fake using the tripcode of the real spoiler provider but that's not the case.

Like in the HXH case i had a bad feeling (i was tricked so many times) and i Checked in the 2ch for T's post and i wasn't able to find it. Then to be 100% sure i asked to Aohige if he found something and he says that was a fake made with T's tripcode.

Yay for Gintama for being the third place :tem but still, Naruto is the first place this week :sweat

Issue #13 (28/02) :
Dois Sol (Color Page) <--- I think this is a mistake of Ohana
Probably Ohana made a mistake there. For this issue, Dois Sol is increasing to 23 pages not Color Page.
@Oberon: Please take note that for 'Color Page' use Blue Color. Orange Color is used only for Cover.

I was just telling some people today that Toriko had almost permanently usurped Bleach as a member of the "big 3", and then it ranks so low (compared to recent weeks) this week -_-; Also, it's a pity that HxH returning is fake (even if I have yet to read it).

I have a really bad feeling Oumagadoki is going to have to be the sacrificial lamb soon :scry Possibly Hokenshitsu as well. Once those 2 are gone, I'm afraid Mago might well be next as it still hasn't been able to climb out of that rut it's been in :darn The chapter being ranked is already past the Kyoto arc and into the post-Kyoto arc and still not showing any signs of rebounding.

Sala, rankings for Mago won't jump up just because Kyoto arc is over. It is not like people hated it just because it was "Kyoto Arc" or something...

Interesting rankings. It's nice to see Enigma in the top 5 again and it's cool seeing Medaka Box safely in the middle rankings. If Kuroko and Reborn's places were switched everything would be a-ok!

For some reason I thought Magico and Grimm were part of the same series, I had to do a double-take. xD

With Mago I have a feeling it would definitely rebound. I mean, look at all the times D.Gray-man got stuck in the bottom. >_> Though I don't know what else to say about Shinigami or Oumagadoki. They might try to pull a genre shift too, I guess.

I like seeing Gintama so high, it makes me feel happy inside. xD

The low rankings were supposedly because people didn't like the Kyoto arc :( They found it (moreso the ending, as the starting was really well ranked and constantly in top10 or even top5) draggy, too long, etc etc, hence retaliated and showed that they didn't like it by not voting for Mago in the surveys. Now that the Kyoto Arc is over, rightfully speaking if it wasn't a problem with Mago itself as a series, rankings should have gone up... But it hasn't, which could point at people not liking Mago any more as it is, that people have given up on it or whatsoever :s Which is, of course bad, and a signal to Jump that it Mago is losing popularity and whatever Shiibashi is doing with the new arc isn't helping to improve the situation. This could factor into it being canceled, if tankoubon sales are not taken into consideration as an indicator of its popularity.

I'm definitely hoping Mago will rebound - it's my pet series, being the first I regularly translated. I will be so sad to see it go :scry

While later parts of Kyoto arc are what made some people drop their ratings, the problem can't be solved with simple "Arc ended, everything is fine!". The voters won't just say: "Ok, I'll start voting for it again even tough there is no other reason besides the fact that the arc that got tiresome ended!". They don't think about the arc but about how they are feeling about the current chapter.

In othe words, the rankings certainly won't go up until something awesome happens in next major arc. Mini Arcs are not waste of time in that regard (as they prepare the field and give more time to the author to plan the story) but they won't help much. If improving rankings was so simple, no series would be on bottom for long.

Of course the problem can't be resolved just by ending the arc. The problem now is that even the new arc isn't being so well-received (as far as we know right now from the rankings). ~3 chapters of it have been ranked and all at the bottom. Even the conclusion of Kyoto arc didn't improve the ranking (normally the start and end of an arc will have higher rankings, at least according to Bakuman :p).

I actually like the mini-arcs myself. If people were liking it (it doesn't have to be *awesome* for them to enjoy it...), the rankings should start going up. Of course I'm hoping that once the Tooryanse mini-arc is ranked, the rankings will rise as I thought Tooryanse was the best of the mini-arcs so far (not to mention it had a direct link/mention of Hyaku Monogatari hence linking to the main overarching plot and not seeming totally random like the previous ones were). If it doesn't, I will really be worried.

You're right, improving rankings isn't simple. Which is the problem here, too: how long will Jump give Shiibashi to improve the rankings before they decide enough is enough?

Don't get me wrong it's not good that Mago is constantly in the bottom 5 but if I was Jump/Shueisha I think I would pay more attention to the following figures.

Volume 12's first fortnight

Weekly manga Ranking for Sep 6-12
*3, *91,619 *,226,014 Nurarihyon no Mago vol.12

Volume 13's first fortnight.

Weekly manga Ranking for Nov 8 - 14
*9, *63,411 *,239,345 Nurarihyon no Mago vol.13

Volume 14's first fortnight

Weekly Manga Ranking for Jan 3 - 9
*5, *79,646 *,256,296 Nurarihyon no Mago vol.14

Let's cancel Mago that does 300,000 per volume easy, was one of the top ten selling manga series of 2010 and has an anime sequel in the works that will further increase sales. All because a small bunch of voters don't like it as much anymore and than we can replace it with a series that will rank in the bottom 5 and sell less than 20k for the first volume and than get canceled. Oh wait what am I talking about, Jump has been putting out hit after hit the last 16 months. Only Kuroko, Beezlebub and Medaka have been canned, everything else has been doing 80k+ opening weeks and are about to get anime shows.

Sarcasm aside considering Jumps record of late I wouldn't be too quick to pull the trigger on canning something that has a significant chance of easily outselling the replacement. If i was running the show would fire whoever canned Mago for say SWOT for instance.

Being a writer myself, I'd rather say that beginning and end of story arcs are best places to put all your effort if you want to impress the reader rather then something that is automatically liked.
With that said, end of Kyoto arc (c134) wasn't the best ending of an arc and Hiroshi didn't even try to use the above mentioned technique (thought he was affected by ratings at first but the shower of mini arcs that followed seems to hint that he was just getting bored or/and exhausted).

Quite good Tankobon sales, the fact that NnM was in top 10 best selling manga's of 2010 and upcoming season 2 of anime should give him quite some time (SJ gets some money from anime as well and it wouldn't fare well if it got canceled/moved before/during the airing). Opinion of Editorial Department also matters but we can't know what they think.

And as Westlo said, Shounen Jump can't afford to lose a series that sells well. Not just was the last year a fiasco, but Naruto will end soon (Kishi doesn't seem to share enthusiasm with Kuno and Oda about having his work published for few more years).

Too bad that the HxH news was fake. Even though the last arc haven't been up to par with the rest of the manga, it's still good. It's not many arcs in any manga that could compete with the Greed Island arc.
