Well, I also read three of the new series (always forgetting to take a look at Dois Sol...) and I thought that the overall quality in the batch was quite something this time around! Still, I don't think that more than one of them has a real chance to stick around for a longer time... as for each series for itself:

Märchen Ouji Grimm
At first I thought the art was kinda stylish but after seeing some more of it I'm no longer that convinced. The jokes were pretty lame (to be honest: not very funny at all) and throughout the whole first chapter I smiled like... 2 times. Yupp, "smiled" not "laughed".
Not as blant and sucky as Wajimania was but nowhere near as good as Inudash.

magico
Currently my favorite series out of the batch. Contrary to Koen I found the art to be pretty cool, well done and fitting for its genre. I'm not that big on Love-Comedy, so I'll have to see where it's heading to, but overall it stood out to me as fresh and entertaining.
I also have absolutely no idea how it'll fare on the rankings... maybe the lack of direct opponents genre-wise can be a plus. Yet Ane-doki failed, too.

Sengoku ARMORS
Wholeheartedly agreeing with Galactic Tomahawk, not as good as the Oneshot IMO. I honestly have my doubts this series will get good ratings. It's not bad, actually quite decent, but that's about it. For a battle oriented action series it doesn't stand out very much at this point.

Dois Sol
If it really has a Magazine feel to it, I'm looking forward to read it! (I also liked K.O. Sen a lot and never understood how it could fail so horribly... :/) Though if that should be true, then DS is doomed...just remembering Hoopmen (:scry), which was also too great for the retarded JUMP readers to get good ratings. Back then, a lot of people felt Hoop had Magazine-ish style...
Y'know, if you're reading Bakuman right now, you're exactly acting like Nanamine. But then again, it can't be helped since Jump's readership 13-15 mostly. You can't really blame the demographic.

Naruto being on these position mean that has me most of the jp fans didnt like much of sudden appearnance of the seven mist swordmens and for in the next chapter naruto will be in a lower rank cuz if i remind well the "next" chapter was about the swords of those 7 swordsmen, and for me since i started reading Naruto weekly and i already am in more than 2 years it was pretty boring :( and after reading that i was hoping that kishi wouldnt make kabuto summmon any more et zombies but kishi showed that i was wrong an the appearence of the ginkaku and kinkaku were really awesome. kishi is already a very experient mangaka, and for him to have choosen to do this way ( seeing this all summons) is cuz he has some pretty good reasons and in the end i hope and i think that kishi is going to explain all this :) . Really glad to see bakuman reaching second place :) cuz for non battle manga doing that in jump is almost impossible lol. toriko also got a good position, i finished yesterday and reached the 132 chapters of toriko and it is interesting to read but clearly on a lower step than Naruto and One Piece. For me toriko is more and less in the same group talking about quality as Fary Tail and for me is a bit better than Beelzebub.

I cant wait to see Naruto and Sasuke on the battlefield , on that time i think that Naruto will be on first every those weeks , at least i hope :)

I actually liked the appearence of Ginkaku and Kinkaku. Thats one of the good things that have happened in this arc.

Personally I put Toriko above Naruto. Toriko is constantly evolving, and I think it's gonna be real big at the end of 2011. Toriko is kind of like One Piece. Starting with some small arcs, and then just going bigger and bigger. And it's also a similatiry between the "new world" in One Piece and "gourmet world" in Toriko.

Toriko can't compete with the first part of Naruto though. That part of Naruto is just amazing!

just cant believe that you said that :omg

i think theirs no comparison between Naruto and Toriko, cuz although Toriko is a good manga it cant beat Naruto, cuz what i feel about toriko is that his creator has not managed to utilize 100% what he could with Toriko. Toriko is similiar to OP as you say cuz Toriko has the as OP a lot of new places t explore but somehow i feel that oda has managed to get OP much more interesting than Mitsutoshi (at least until now) . i dont know how to explain but it is what i feel.

First of all pretty stories are pretty good , on one side we have a world with ninjas and in the other there is a world that is on the gourmet era.
But Naruto is clearly much better than Toriko, cuz Naruto has everything that the BEST shonen storie needs, it has emotion , action, adventure, a pretty good cast, an awesome storie, great powers, in Naruto we see the all charcaters developments, we feel that we are next to them , its not like OP has being in sometimes that we see luffy with a new awesome attack coming from nowhere. the all universe of naruto is so much more complex than the all toriko one and that for me is so much important. in Naruto we feel very deeply the relationships bettween everybody and again Toriko lacks a bit on it. the only relationships that we have seen been well shown was the realtionship between Komatsu and Toriko.
For me clearly Naruto beats Toriko in any categorie cuz the way i feel about Naruto is so much stronger than the way a feel about toriko, i want to see Naruto succeed , i wanna see Naruto acomplish his dreams something that although i want toriko to achieve is not for even closer with the same strenght.
The all storie behind Naruto is just so beautiful and was so well told , a boy that no one liked , withouth any single friends and no family that was so close into enter into the "darkness" , but with friendship he was saved and what he wants is to be respected and above all the thinks to protect his friends.

Toriko is very far away of beating this , at least for me

Is this really the place to discuss this?-_-;

I'm actually looking forward to Sengoku Armors and Magico.
I had mixed feelings about Sengoku Armor's one-shot.It was good, especially the characters, but the plot was not satisfying enough,at least for me.
Magico looks good, but i don't know if it will be original enough.Looking at the cover and the characters,it seems like your usual magic story.
I hope they will get scanlated soon.

I only liked the appearance of Ginkaku and Kinkaku - that's all, the rest was meh xd

I'm looking forward to the poll in Naruto manga - it was sooo long till the time from the last poll, so I'm somewhat excited :p And.. some of the characters will be on the double color cover with this, hyhy xD

Lol, usually I'm just told we have the same hairstyle/look alike, but it seems I finally caught up character-wise, eh...
No, seriously, I don't think everything that Nanamine says is wrong. Some things, maybe most of them, are but not everything.

But let's be honest, the kids who send in their cards are quite ignorant in their own ways (voting crap regardless how crappy said crap turns out. Crap. Yet disregarding nearly everything that's somewhat experimenting.) and as a paying customer of the magazine I feel like it's my right to criticize them...

I partly agree with you on this. The characters and their developments up to the end of part 1 was really astounding. Since then a lot of cool characters have lived in the shadow of everything else. I actually miss Sasuke (didn't believe I was gonna say this) from the first part of the story. Lee is another one that haven't been there a lot in part 2. But as I said, Naruto part 1 is a lot better than Toriko, but compared to part 2, I think Toriko is better. Of course, part 2 of Naruto have been nice too, but not compared to part 1. I really liked when Naruto gained status in his village after beating Pain.

Is this really the place to discuss this?
I don't know? It's about the position of Naruto and Toriko in the magazine and the manga world today, so it's kind off relative, isn't it?

I´m not totally sure, but I think it should be allowed since it says "Discussion" in the topic, although we aren´t technically talking about 2011 related stuff (i.e. Part 1 of Naruto is not 2011) but I think it should be allowed.

Ditto.
Japan has always been a very traditionalist nation, its no secret. Yeah its one of the few places on earth were you could see a magazine for boys containing nude girls but that´s all because that´s tradition there, since ancient times, since ukyo-e, the dream of the fisherman´s wife would be a good example of this.
Now, what was I aiming to do by bringing tradiotionalism in this?
Mainly that how things work and how things used to work change with time.
I.e. Nanamine using 50 (Well 51 people if we count his editor) people´s opinions, IMO, is not a bad idea, AT ALL... Of course I know the plan is gonna fail manga-wise, but those are all different points of view, maybe some real-author should try LOL.
Maybe Shueisha (And other manga publishers) should open a forum/real time chat once every month or something and make authors and readers meet so they can talk about developments and all that, of course that manga could turn into a total pile of fan-service but that´s what most manga are anyway LOL, ironically, Bakuman has had his share of fan-service, I mean think about it, Hiramaru is ranked first in the fan´s poll and since then we see him almost every chapter.

As for kids voting for "Crap" I understand what you mean, its those kids that keep BLEACH so up when other manga deserve it, but if BLEACH gets those votes then in my opinion is doing what it should be doing :D
What I mean is Weekly Shonen Jump is targetting a certain demography, which btw I am 100% sure you and me aren´t, their demography should be something along the lines of "Japanese citizens around 7 to 15 years". If BLEACH is popular among those voters (And IIRC voters from the main demography count "more") then power to Kubo Tite and long live BLEACH, which I think its too boring since I can´t remember when, but if thats what little kids like, and I am sure they do since BLEACH has all those cool poses, Bankais, Characters (lots of them),cool poethic (Wanna be) lines, not-drawn-backgrounds, Cool-spilled-ink powers and "Just as Aizen planned" moments (I am waiting for other of those.. Yeah I am that confident in Kubo :D)
Now you said you are a magazine buyer, then you do get a "voice" just cut your TOC card, put your favorite mangas, send it to Shueisha and voila! There you have it your vote is now counted! Do that every week to keep ONE PIECE up! :)
Now sarcasm aside, because I know you wouldn´t do that every week from Germany (Judging from your info) I think Shueisha could change the voting system too, i.e. put a code in the TOC card so that you can login with that code and send your thoughts and rankings online. I don´t know how costly it would be for each code to be printed different in each magazine, but if needed the code could be the same, just not letting the same I.P. use it twice or something like that, of course if the code gets unto forums people who didn´t buy the magazine could vote, but meh, they would still be interested people (What I mean, they are sure to be consumers in some point, i.e. Tankoubons, figures, anime, etc.)

BTW you use "Crap" too much, judginig from your nick/avatar is safe to assume you are a Sanji fan, huh? Your "Crap" talk makes me remember of that famous "Restaurant Le Crap" line from Sanji LOL

Bear in mind that most kids buying jump won't have the same tastes as a bunch of 20something year olds talking about it on the internet. Consider what kind of things you were in to at that age to give it a bit more perspective.

Sengoku Armors is the series I'm most confident in. I don't know, it just gives me a feeling that it's going to be popular, or at least last long enough. Magico has interested me due to it being a fantasy series, and Dois Sol because of the slight Brazilian theme :D!

Exactly my thoughts, if I were a 7 year old boy living in Japan I´d probably invent my own Bankai LOL. This reminds me of how I used to yell "Kamehameha!" at the tv every time Goku did back when I was a child. Good times :D

lol, sorry, I never meant to evoke such a big discussion when I made my semi-ironic comment about the fate of Dois Sol...^^

First of all, cool posting. I agree with practically everything you said and I know most of that, the sad and harsh truth myself. (Like Shueisha giving shit about us stinky gaijin reading their comics... :D) And it's not like I'm all pissed and upset about their way of doing things or their readers' taste or anything. Like I said in the beginning, it wasn't even that serious of a comment but rather cynical. I've been into this magazine for quite some time and been even subscribing to it for nearly 2,5 years now and I had to watch a fair amount of awesome series I really enjoyed dying for no good reason. That's a little sad, but it can't be helped...

And damn, even if I wanted to send my card in, it would be weeks too late! I get my JUMP a good amount of time after it hits the stores, the postcard also takes its time... :tem

BTW you use "Crap" too much
Oh, sorry... just a rhetoric device I tend to use to illustrate what I mean. (No Sanji reference intended. Though very fitting, you're right :D)

So, yeah, I'm better off to invent my own Bankai now and whatnot than continue to annoy users with any more complaints. xD

As a reminder this is a GENERAL thread for Shonen Jump so if anyone wants to discuss a series in detail, please create a thread or take the conversation to PM. Thanks!

I'd love to be able to cast my votes. Unfortunately buying WSJ and sending cards from overseas will cost money. I also don't want any of the prizes they give away so I'm not sure what to put in.

This is T, the usual OP spoiler provider, so it should be accurate (I have not checked 2ch myself so I'm not saying it's definite).

Yay for One Piece color page and cover next week! And Bakuman CP too! It didn't see that long ago that Bakuman got a color page, only like 3-4 weeks ago, iirc? Not that I'm complaining of course :D

Boo for Oumaga being at the very bottom, and Mago being near to it :scry If only Jump readers would appreciate Oumaga for the breath of fresh air it is...
