I'm not sure 21 series are lots because Magazine and Sunday have even more series than Jump.

That's true. I was thinking more on the lines of within Jump twenty-one series is a lot: on average it has around fifteen series. A reason why the other magazines have higher number of series is because they're less competitive.

I never fully realized until I typed that paragraph, but Jump is much more intense than I previously thought. Simply being serialized -even for a fleeting moment- is a huge accomplishment.

Jump did have average of fifteen series, on early 90s. Since 2000s, Jump has average twenty-one series.

It's gonna be weird for a while with all these new series. Half the TOC is unranked right now. And it's gonna be like that for a while until the new series start getting ranked.
Toriko's been doing well, and Jump's bound to be pushing it as the movie comes out on the 19th and anime starts on the 2nd of April along with OP.

And Reborn is 10th (out of 21). So it really didn't do that bad, Though still sad to see it in the bottom...

Happy to see Beelzebub & One Piece in the top 5 though

series with Color/Cover are considered unranked, because their position is sort of a "default" that comes with getting a color/cover.

Series with Lead color page always goes first place on the ranking.

Manga are not ranked if they are
1) Less than 8 chapters long
2) Have a color page
3) Have the cover page (typically comes with a color page too)
4) Have more pages than usual

They are arbitrarily/strategically slotted into the magazine rather than put according to rank. The list you initially quoted basically did not include any manga that fell into the above 4 categories. The full table of contents for this week can be seen in this post.

Yeah, we discussed that one before and since there are arguments for both, overall opinions seem to differ...

Though I agree with you, I also believe them to be ranked for two simple reasons:
1.) Series appear in ranking spheres where you'd normally expect them to, even when they're granted extra pages. (It's been the case with series in the bottom 5 a fair number of times.)
2.) While they are somewhat highlighted in the preview picture for the next issue they appear regularly on the TOC in the actual JUMP with only a little "increased page count" tag attached below the main characters avatar pic.

As others have said, Naruto is not ranked this week due to it getting a Cover page (and manga with color pages are ALWAYS put on first place in ToC, no matter the actual ranking).

Chapters with extra pages are still ranked.
For example, Nura got 23p and was still in its usual position.

Don't expect any chapter from any japanese magazine in the next week.
Everything is being cancelled in Japan due to earthquake+tsunami, from football games to TV shows.

It's very likely (and almost a certainty) that any manga we don't already have will be delayed for awhile. There are bigger issues here.
