I will never argue for Black Clover's originality, because it doesn't possess any. I understand completely why the people who don't like Black Clover just don't and I won't try to change their minds or call it a "Tolkien" or "literary masterpiece" because it's far from it. Just like how I hope they understand that no matter how many times they repeat themselves week after week about how much they dislike it, that it's not going to change how the ones who truly like it feel, or better yet it's popularity in Japan. Like everyone who's tired of trying to shout logic about why the series is terrible, and how everyone should share that opinion. I'm tired of people acting like you have to be 9 years old, have bad taste, or be simpleminded to like the series.
I like a lot of manga and anime old or new, popular or not popular. I love original, sophisticated and/or philosophical stories, in any form of entertainment including manga. But one thing I decided on ever since I was 6 or 7 years old watching anime, is I don't care what others think about my taste in anime or manga. When it comes to books, movies, and television, I listen or read critics thoughts and reviews. But I still don't let that decide if I like something or not, I let my opinion do that.
I've constantly had to defend my love and interest in anime and manga, from family, friends, and even strangers. It's hard enough liking anime and manga while being looked at as "childish" "weird" and "stupid" for doing so. Then even among fellow anime and manga fans in various online communities, have to have a hard time liking a series that a majority or minority, hate or dislike.
I usually keep my opinions to myself, even when I'm in a place where I can freely share them such as this forum, but when I do share my opinions I make sure that people know it's just that, my opinion. I'm afraid to even express my liking of certain series sometimes (e.g., Naruto, Bleach, and Black Clover) around forums like this, because I always get met with sly or direct comments on why or how said series is bad. Then I end up having to argue why I like something some others don't.
I personally like my taste in series, with World Trigger, Hinomaru Zumo, Boku no Hero Academia, One Piece, Hunter x Hunter, and Black Clover, as Weekly Shonen Jump examples. I don't think I have bad taste, am 9 years old, simpleminded, or I illogical for liking a generic series like BC, because it doesn't mean that's all I like. Black Clover is popular in Japan, it's either gonna rise or fall, either way just deal with it. Nothing we say here will affect it's popularity there.
