Well, unless some miracle happens or Jump+ methods are totally different from WSJ's, it's not long for this world.

It doesn't have polls as far as know and Jump+ is a new service, the editors cannot expect that the series will sell as much as Jump series, series from a magazine with more than 45 years which its name is almost synonym for Shounen. It is a new service that has to conquer its space. Many people can think that there are just remains from Jump there, since if it were a very good series, they would probably serialize in Jump.

There have been at least a couple of polls which ask which are your favorite manga serialized in Jump+ and many other things
On the sales topic, I think we need to consider these things too (taking in account Jump+ is a free digital platform):

• You can read all the chapters for free even if you don't buy the volumes, so unless you really like the series or are very curious on what kind of special extra content the volume release has you won't really need to buy the volumes
• Since the readers who are up-to-date with the series all read it through a digital device, you can expect many of them to buy the digital volumes rather than the paper copies (and also expect to have people who don't even use the app/website and buy only the paper volumes), I think most of this series have a higher percentage of their sales in digital copies than most of the series serialized in the paper magazines
• Even if the Jump+ app has hell a lot of downloads, many of those probably are from people who want to read the digital Jump

From the issue survey, looks like we're not getting any of the Jump Start series in Viz WSJ this week, although there might be something in the preview when the issue comes out. It'll have the first chapter of Tokyo Ghoul though.

Someone said that in their podcast, they were saying that ESJ is close to/at the max amount of series they can have with their current budget and that their budget for ESJ manga will grow if they get more subscribers. The person also took note of what they think replaced what in ESJ and it doesn't look like they have much space for another manga right now.

I think that Obata, more than anyone else, know that the author cannot pause a series that barely started, even more when it is in a delicate situation in the rankings. He wrote a manga where he and Ohba exposed such situation.

I understand that, but I would argue to Viz that they need to get series that are just beginning to get new subscribers. Why would people rush to sub for One Piece, Niseoki, Tokriko and Bleach when those fans are probably reading them by others means. They been successful before in eliminating scans with World Trigger.

It's a difficult spot to be in. Viz isn't exactly a company to take bigger risks like Yen Press.

Good news for ESJ readers, the editor, John Bae, said the Jump Starts are still under evaluation. Not like it's a definite no right now.

The most effective way to serialize successes in ESJ is to wait the series make success before serializing them in the ESJ. Neither the editors, nor the readers know what will make success, even more when it comes to USA audience, who has a different perspective of what a good series is.
