Really happy to see my two favorite mangas, Black Clover and World Trigger, in the TOP 05 this week. Considering the positions so far, I do not think it's wrong to assume that will be a constant Top 05 series, but rare first places.
AND YES, COLOR PAGE FOR KAGAMIGAMI O/ Even with the volume 01 selling below expectations, can we begin to expect some reaction? Maybe it has performance equal of World Trigger, both had similar beginnings and his first volume did not appear on the Oricon.

This could be just me denying reality but Kagamigami might have ranked last now since Iwashiro was late on schedule, he stated it himself during Psyren that he was usually one of the last to get his chapter to the editor and now he had his first collaboration for the Black clover.. Either this, or WSJ knows what he has in store for the readers and think Kagamigami is worth the promotion.

The ranked chapter was with a CP and also a backstory and was nicely done.

This makes a valid a explanation. Kagamigami's spot could be due to the fact that he was too late. Maybe its spot can not be counted. It is indeed odd that it's getting another CP, I can not believe that it is due to Iwashiro Toshiaki's WSJ status. On the other hand, he's a mentor if Beelzebub's, Black Clover's mangaka are all his assistants. Is that CP a show of respect? Is it because it will be moved? Is it because the ratings of the last chapter are better and WSJ is being promoting it because of the current arc

While that could be the case, I think Mako being sideline may have played a part in it dipping in the rankings. A lot people expected the second chapter of kagamigami to rank poorly but it didn't and I think the reason why is readers really like the dynamic between kyousuke and Mako. How many series currently being serialized in jump have a female lead or co-lead, and of those how many are battle manga?

I think readers expected the series to be structure around Mako and Kyousuke investigating shikigami cases together, but as the series progress just focused on Kyousuke. The rank was consistent until the school arc which didn't involve Mako.

Kagamigami can simply be to promote the first volume, even IR had one (and ranked worse overall than kami).

I hope it survives tho, I really do.

I was hoping it wouldn't take that long. But glad it's still around. Love this concept and series. It has such a rabid fan base too. The character poll results were off the charts.

Correct that to Black clover in 3 days of sales, since it came out on June 4th(Thursday) and it was up to June 7th so there was a day off in the middle. The chart to my understanding is from June 1-7

Why wouldn't there be any sales on Saturday? According to shosekiranking, manga volumes sell on Saturdays like in any other day of the week. So it was 4 days for Black Clover sales.

I agree with Xzone that it's still soon to call it a hit, but it in fact had a good beginning (let's not forget Shiibashi was already a well-known mangaka so the comparison isn't completely fair). BC's success consolidation will depend on the reception of the latest batch and the few next ones, Jump can be totally unpredictable sometimes.

You're forgetting 2 things comparing the sales for Illegal Rare and Black Clover:
1. it had been 6 months since the author of Illegal Rare had finished his previous series when he came back (successful series in around 200 chapters). That has an impact on the sales for a new series. The same happened for Fujisaki Ryu when he started his new series. Notice how sales never really increased after the first volume for Illegal Rare.
2. Tabata Yuki's previous series wasn't successful at all, ended in 3 volumes before being cancelled.

You're comparing the sales for 2 series of 2 authors that didn't have the same impact on the magazine with their first series in the magazine. One was extremely successful the other was pretty much unknown.

Wrong comparison, even with Double Arts, like already said, Illegal Rare had "Hiroshi Shiibashi" name, this is why had a decent first sales and after this, flop, not to mention the rankings that were bad.

About Double Arts, was a different case, just a little spark, and Black Clover rankings are better than DA, with 16 chapters Double Arts already dropped while Black Clover with 17 is on the top 3 and even beating One Piece once.

Black Clover isn't a Boku no Hero Academia yet, but for sure can be considered a really popular manga in the moment

The first volume of Souma sold 70k in 4 days, right? Anyway, BC is popular, and 38k in 4 days is very good for a series of an almost unknown author. And had problems with stock too.

Im quite sure, just like in those cases, people are joking when they hate it and that they actually really love these stories. No one can read something and experience the gnashing of teeth in anger, it makes no sense as there is nothing wrong with BLack Clover, Naruto, or even Fairy Tail. I guess people think its cool to hate good stuff while championing ultraniche failure series.

Naruto is only getting hate now, it only started late on.

When it first came out, it was treated like the second coming of jesus. It exploded and everyone loved it, no hate at all.

(And rightfully so, early Naruto is some of the best manga in existence)
