Shuiesha should give Seven Seas Yuragi license already so i don't have to import it anymore.

If they release Youkai Shoujo (Jump SQ), To Love Ru and To Love Ru darkness what's stopping them from accquire Yuragi sou no Yuuna san :gwah:hip
Viz probably still gets first say, it's doubtful they'd want a main ongoing Jump series to go to another publisher since it might set a precedent and make them lose a series they want or something.
Also just to be pedantic but it's Young Jump, not SQ.

Lolwut? At the rate of KNY's rising sales and popularity its objectively a poor business decision to be intentionally ignoring the series.
The people at Viz are incompetents. Not sure how many examples we need or many times we need to go over this.
Kimetsu no Yaiba are below average, man... See the reality.
But this is not what I'm talking about. What I'm talking about is that I've NEVER, really, NEVER seen anybody mention Kimetsu no Yaiba outside this thread.
I've seen people talking about Yuragi, TPN, even Saiki, but Kimetsu no Yaiba.... I honestly have never seen... Hinomaru Zumou either for that matter...
Maybe this is part of the reason, they really see what's is trending.
Some basics statistics from MAL: Kimetsu no Yaiba has 2.830 members. WNL barely started and already have almost 5.000! Fire Punch has 4700, so it is theoretically more popular. I think Kimetsu no Yaiba loses for any series in Jump, except for Isobe.

You haven't heard westerners talking about it so it doesn't matter?

Well people on the west dont read kimetsu and you dont need proof for that. I think Its the only jump manga with such small community. Viz woudent care for manga that sell so low and people on the west dont read.

Unlike Kimetsu No Yaiba, We Never Learn was picked up by a translation group right away. On top of that it was picked up by Jamini's Box and the first chapter was covered by Mangastream. Both are probably the two biggest sites that people read manga on in the US.
It has a small following here because it's not really covered by any group that matters and has no exposure. It getting a licensed, or at the very least, Viz adding it to their line up could increase its expose here.

That isn't really something remarkable, mangastream did all the first chapters of that batch, and dropped the mangas that they didn't think were good, they only keep doing RxL and Dr Stone. And Jamini's Box isn't exactly the pride of quality, and they did the same that Mangastream, took all the new batch and kept what they liked.
That aside, it's true that WNL has been received better than Kimetsu, both here and in Japan, but in the end, we and our tastes don't matter, only the magazine survey and the sales.

I have a slight suspicion that they are the ones who are going to buy the English edition, so their opinion kind of matter? :derp

We know that Manga Editors also have the size of audience in mind when they are going to choose something to translate. If the biggest ones didn't pick Kimetsu no Yaiba.... Well, maybe they are just incompetents who don't see the numbers like VIZ. :derp

You guys cannot accept that Kimestsu no Yaiba IS NOT popular in Occident and continue vociferating against VIZ if they didn't have a base for their decision.

being well-known or popular in the west doesn't seem to affect their decisions to bring something over or not

heck, in the same announcement of Fire Punch they announced Kenka Banchou Otome: Koi no Battle Royal which isn't really popular at all

and recently they licensed imadoki no kodomo which doesn't even have a page on MAL!!!

you didn't answer my question what manga sites you don't see people talk about KnY? the mainstream ones like r/manga and /a/ talk about it all the time

Not really. I'd say it works in reverse and that the fact the Manga Editors behind Kimetsu aren't well known actually does have a massive impact on the series' popularity. Sure the big scanning groups picked big series to get big, but now their influence is so large they massively affect how the west perceives a series.

Just look Red Sprite, Demon's Plan, Jagaaaan, U19 and so many others that have been done by JB/MS. All series that had insanely large audiences right off the bat. You could say they were 'marketed' by the big name Manga Editors. They were still massively popular even if they were trash. They were by no means hyped up series either besides maybe Red Sprite for the whole "Bleach Successor" shit people were spouting. Hell, you could even put WNL and HMs popularity down to that as well.

I have no doubt Yaiba would explode in the west if either of them picked it up just due to how huge their audiences are. I'd almost be willing to bet Viz would have probably licensed it by now if either had picked it from Ch 1.

Anyway, you'd be surprised how much traction Yaiba actually does get. It's discussion threads get just as much discussion as Fire Punch which just got licensed. Hell, it's not even that far behind Haikyuu, which is surprisingly unpopular in the west in manga form considering how big the anime is.

Gintama is the same as Haikyuu

Every single season of the anime are in the top of every list of every anime rating sites

however Gintama manga thread can't get 10 posts before dying on plebbit and bato

I have a theory about this :cheez

Hq and Gintama fandoms are mainly fujos right?

so their rating are based on how well they make yaoi ships out of chapters instead of rating and discussing what actually going on in the chapter

basically head-canon > canon

that's why no one talk about the chapters, they're busy with their tumblr shit

I'm not talking about quality. I'm talking popularity. WNL, Dr.Stone and RxL all have bigger followings in the US than Kimetsu No Yaiba. I'm saying it's because they were all covered by Manga Editors who get a lot of traffic on their sites. Where as Kimetsu No Yaiba isn't covered by any major translator and doesn't get much exposure in the manga community.

I have a slight suspicion that they are the ones who are going to buy the English edition, so their opinion kind of matter? :derp

They picked up some of the newer series after 1 chapter, so obviously popularity isn't 100% a factor.

Can confirm on Haikyuu's tiny western popularity, i never see threads on /a/ catalog even when i scroll down to the 20ish post count threads. The only times I see threads are during the anime or the very rare chapter release day.

I remember in that thread about Bleach's popularity on Reddit plenty of kids kept bringing up its western popularity as if it mattered or wasn't besides the point of my post.
Surprised to see that kind of rhetoric actually spewed here.

We should probably wrap this up though. I mean the two posts that began this argument were deleted initially but one user slipped in his reply just afterwards to keep it going. Plus, we all know who's right here.

All I know is that Haikyu!! is really popular on Tumblr. It's always in the top 5 in the Manga&Anime section.

True, the Japanese side is the one that truly matters, but saying that WNL has been received better than Kimetsu in Japan is a bit of a stretch and not true.
WNL first volume sells better than Kimetsu, and they both rank mid-low on the first chapters.

You never specified that you were referring to when both manga were starting out, so please.
Then what will I compare? Saying Kimetsu is bad because its last volume sells less than One Piece or Rurouni Kenshin last volume is stupid, if you compare both is when they were both the same amount of volumes.

I mean, Double Arts first volume sold better than Kimetsu's, but look how that turned out.

Idk if this is the appropriate place to ask. But about the One Piece 20th Anniversary East Blue special.
Is it suppose to be similar to the Dressrosa special that was like 2 hours?
