Mag Talk Weekly Shonen Jump [2017] - Discussion and TOC Talk

The online manga store Honya Club has asked 1094 bookstore workers in Japan which mangas do they recommend reading in 2017. In addition to being an important list, since it is a "on-street" survey, it is important for the rest of the countries looking closely at which mangas are sold in Japan to be able to export them to their respective countries. These results were as follows:

Fire Punch has the best villain of all time, if anything im surprised it isn't higher XD. But seriously, I agree. Am glad to see Kaguya and KnY in there though.

This has to be a joke... How come a good list of manga has: Platinum End, Fire Force and Fire Punch?

I think it was those below 5 volumes. Maybe Neverland would have been in it too, but this poll happened november 2016 and TPN was too young at that.

Uratarou is BEYOND better all this series combined... And I'm not joking. It is Haikyuu quality level. Not on One Piece level though.Yet.

I never take the ToC as a legit ranking. Just where the editor decided to place the series for the week

We only like that in the days our favorite series isn't ranking high :P

I could be completely wrong

But the way I always look at it, the top 5 doesn't really matter and bottom 3 don't really matter.

I believe the editor just puts the 3-5 best received series from 8 weeks ago at the top of the magazine. But I don't think it's particularly ordered based on which got the most votes. It just gives us a general idea what audiences were feeling the most that week. And the bottom 3 are in danger. Doesn't really matter which one is failing the least

This is just my speculation though

I generally follow almost the entire magazine... Almost 100% of the times the toc express the best chapters... At least in my humble opinion.

Eeeh. Best is really subjective, especially when most readers likely don't read every series.
