One Piece anime aired in some channels here in Brazil, but iirc it didn't get quite popular at the time. Nowadays the manga is really popular, but popularitywise it doesn't outdo Naruto.

aren't they replacing it with Tokyo Ghoul anime? TG isn't a long running anime so maybe OP will be back after it's done airing?

Has there ever been a case where the main manga has referenced their spin-offs if the spin-off isn't an AU version

I can't believe a black clover fan asked this in this thread of all places

I don't really consider Light-novels spin-off's since there usually a continuation of the main story. What I was asking in reference to a story set in the manga's universe but have a story all there own, thats what I consider a spin-off.

Yeah, I wouldn't really consider the Black Clover LN a spin-off either.

So it's only a spinoff if it proves your point?
Okay.
We can't just go making our own definitons because we feel like it.

Define Spin off, draw by original author or different author and the original author put it in his/her manga?

Jump:
Jaco the Galactic Patrolman appears in Dragonball Super
Dragon Ball Super
Captain Tsubasa(?)
Assassination Classroom side story(?)

None Jump:

Fairy Tail Zero, although the author himself drew FT Zero.
Doraemon-franchise

BC light-novel the way I saw it was more akin more to an limited-aired episode in an anime, it helps with the plot but for what ever reason it wasn't shown much.

More like something with a completely different set of characters, maybe one or two who came from the original but the rest are new and unrelated like Vigilante for MHA. The BC light novel is just the same characters in a story that happens to be in a novel.

I see, so from your pov it must have different characters for it to be a spinoff

what about Bakuman then? they made a lot of fake manga and referenced it in the manga, they even gave PCP a light novel

does that count?

I'd call the Black Clover LN a side story more than anything else.

Like people have said though from non-jump manga Magi references its spin-off (Adventures of Sinbad) quite a bit, the main manga has had flashback showing characters that first appeared in the spin-off as well as referencing arcs from the spin-off when characters talk about their pasts.

Bakuman had a light-novel? That's news to me though that maybe more of a fan-serves thing, since it's about PCP, then spin-off.

There is no need to reinvent the wheel when there is Wikipedia and dictionary to come to rescue.
  • Spin-off (media), a new media product derived from an existing product or franchise, such as by focusing on an established character or setting
  • Spin-off product, a new product which uses the brand name of another product which already has a well-developed image
Everything besides this is bullshit.

I think he was saying that in the Bakuman manga universe, PCP got a light novel. Not a light novel in real life (our universe).

It actually did get a real one.

There's also a Bakuman light novel, but I'm pretty sure that one's just an adaptation of the live-action movie.

It got a light novel in "our universe" (that was funny XD) though.
