the way is see it panning out is that they will probably lose at nationals, then the third years will graduate, end.
Thats a pretty big copout ending though...

It would be a drag if they lost, third years left, and continued with the series for the next year, i agree. But Furudate is good at writing characters, so im sure the up and coming first years would be worth reading about. I know i keep compairing it to AoD, but i felt the same with that and the second year has been even more enjoyable than the first so far.

I would be pretty pissed if it just ends here. There has been way too much focus on other teams who will never be played again, and characters who don't really have a role of yet to just end it. Plus, all the first years obviously have a long way to go and are pretty weak considering. Hinata is still pretty crap at most things.

I think its 50/50 at this point. There is reason to believe it will end, but theres also certainly a chance it will continue.

More than anything though, if Haikyuu were to end sometime within the next couple of years it'd certainly be a blow to JUMP, given it's more or or less the magazine's #2 right now and they still have yet to establish a solid third pillar (we'll have to see how MHA s2 or BC work out). Of course it goes without saying they can get by soley on OP for years to come, but the extra support would help.

We don't want to repeat Slam Dunk once again, right? I still have to catch up to the manga, but they were going to the Nationals where I stopped and I can see you guys point, but I don't think they are going to win in the first try and end the series. They still have things to learn, Hinata still has to prove a lot to the rest of the guys, reach Kageyama in the Japan Team and all.... Also, it would be funny and interesting to see Tanaka and Nishinoya administering the team and Hinata and Kegeyama having a role in building the next generation with the same philosophy that their veterans gave to them. It is not only the Nationals, really... The Nationals is only a detail to me in this series, it wouldn't be a disappointment if they went through everything again.

Well I think the "main goal" is for Hinata to beat/fight Kageyama (I just don't know how this will be possible, maybe on college)?

I'd like you guys thoughts on the possibility of Boruto becoming a weekly series. Any chance?

I don't think it will be a weekly series.

I understand that the naruto series is a big money franchise, but I have little to no faith that Boruto will be a success.

Boruto volume 1 sold 350k. Boruto volume 2 sold (so far) more than 300k. This is a lot of sales... Not on the level of the main series obviously. Still very good for a monthly series.

Pretty much nothing on jump SQ sells this.

That's only because it's attached to a pre-existing best seller, which can only hold up for so long with casual fans before even that runs out, and has to start surviving on it's own merit. We've seen this happen with other continuations i.e. Dragon Ball Z to Dragon Ball GT which originally had alot of Z's fans when it started then not even half way through it it became known as something that shouldn't be talked about in the same sentence as Dragon Ball Z.

why would they start as a monthly manga if it just gonna change to weekly later on :hmmnot saying it couldn't happen, I'm just saying what's the point?

also I think when Kishi's new manga starts it will also be serialize as a monthly manga in WSJ and runs the weeks that Boruto is absent

There's some series from other magazines that started as monthly then switched to weekly later (though they also switched magazines and restarted as a v2 type series).

Well Dragon Ball Super does not sell that good (probably because it's published in V-JUMP, a magazine that pretty much exists for spin offs)

Help promoting the anime vice-versa?

Kishimoto seems to be going the Watsuki route and seems to be completely focused on Boruto at this point. In the last Boruto interview, he mentioned that he plans to make Boruto even better than Naruto was so we can expect him to be completely focused on the plot points there. Also, Boruto is probably monthly because its a direct sequel to the Household name manga that was Naruto. Any other series would never have gotten a monthly release in Shonen Jump, most probably moving to a different magazine. In reality, no series has gotten a sequel in Jump and JoJo and Captain Tsubasa can technically be considered the sames series so they wouldn't really count as sequels.

I find it hard to believe that Boruto will ever be greater then the original manga. In the manga
they already defeated the progenitor of all ninja.
any other plot thread that could ever come out would feel insignificant in comparison

Boruto and Naruto's anime might run simultaneously for a couple of weeks. Snack World, a level 5 creation, is getting a TV anime set to run in Naruto's timeslot from April 13. This means that Naruto might end around April 6. Keep in mind that this is just speculation on my part. I don't really keep up with Naruto anime news, just manga stuff.

Not sure but it seems it will end on episode 500, no? March 23.

Episode 500 was only stated to be the finale of the wedding preparation arc, we don't know when Shippudden as a whole will end.

That plot point has more to do with scale than actually good story. The story itself could be better in how the characters are developed, the interactions between characters and battle choreography and many other factors.

I wasn't discounting that the story wouldn't be better quit frankly a lot of the second half of Naruto had quit a few problems story-wise anyways, though that's just my opinion. I'm of the very few out there that doesn't really like the Naruto series, but I've noticed that a lot of fans of the series focus more on the scale rather than the story in most cases.

I actually believe Boruto will be pretty good. At the very least I think it'll be a good follow up for fans

I think it's just that and a way to squeeze more money from fans... Like Dragon Ball Super. or any other "sequel".
