It would certainly be interesting, like a manga version of a 90s/early 00s kart racer platformer spin-off.

Does anyone else think that WSJ is trying to hard to add new series that'll sell decent-pretty good to the magazine? It felt that way to me with the current new batch; it's as if their well known high standards have waned since the loss of a lot of their big sellers.

Two of last year's successes are 100k+ sellers and another is likely to get there next volume, the only oddity is Spring Weapon. If anything it was 2-3 years ago that their standards were lower (since that's when most of the 20k club started).

"We never Learn" was decent in the two chapters published by VIZ, not in the level of Nisekoi though so I'm not surprised with the rankings. It has not been exciting in a romance standpoint, there was no romance at all up to now. lol
I'm starting to have my doubts that the whole point of the series is romance. The series has to identify itself was romance.

I'm pretty sure they didn't expect all 6 series to succeed. Was probably only expecting 3 successes at most.

But now that they started the year with 6 new series, if all 6 got axed they have a shot with 6 more new series. So they have a lot of room to throw more stuff at the wall

I see We can't study more of a slice of life series then a romance series, it fits better as a SOL in my opinion.

It's a shounen romcom, they barely ever are actually about romance. They usually end when the romantic parts actually start.

Yeah, I'm starting to feeling this way as well and this creates another problem: a slice of life about studying? XD

Why not I know of a slice of life series about making/finding friends.

Why not I know of a slice of life series about making/finding friends. Has jump had any other slice of life series other than Bakuman and potentially this series?
It sounds so boring, young people read mangas to escape from studying. XD
Bakuman was not a slice of life, it was a battle shounen.

Not failing, just not doing as great has some people expectations, that were highly exaggerated. Like the 6+ average TV Rating.

What do you mean by bigger than Pokemon?

Here the last TV Rating:

Ratings for April 10 - April 16 (episode #86 of Super):

  1. Sazae-san (11.5%)
  2. Crayon Shin-cha (8.5%)
  3. Doraemon (7.9%)
  4. Chibi Maruko-chan (7.1%)
  5. Detective Conan (6.4%)
  6. One Piece (5.9%)
  7. Dragon Ball Super (5.0%)
  8. My Hero Academia (3.9%)
  9. Curious George (3.7%)
  10. Pokémon - Sun and Moon (3.6%)

People here seriously need to read Bakuman to understand the definition of unorthodox battle shounen. XD
Shokugeki no Soma is also a battle shounen. XD

Bha have better rating than pokemon and its just now starting to grow even bigger. In 5-6 weeks it will be 5%. And yes it is way bigger than pokemon is Japan right now. The anime and the manga all sell way better than pokemon's one.

Jump still has "Ajihei the Cook" a manga with 23 volumes from the 70's

That's true. For a Romcom it doesn't have much Rom in it. The only active romantic factor is the childhood friend so far, the rest are more like friends/study buddies. Hungry Marie had more rom-tendencies than WNL with the confession, Anna being actually affected by it and Taiga worrying how Anna sees him, etc.
