He's definitely good at designing girls (and characters in general) but personally I don't think he's particularly good at drawing them. Tabata's Urara might look pretty off but he's still clearly drawn her as a girl for example, while Horikoshi's Noelle by comparison looks like a guy with long hair.

How is FT higher than JJBA? JJBA has a successful anime and the manga sells well (not as well as FT but FT being that high?)

The style of Horikoshi's female characters don't translate well into other mangakas style. Horikoshi has a cast of women in his manga, who have a diverse range of designs. It seems like it, as if Tabata is one of the mangaka who have problems designing women, meaning, he is probably at his limits, when re-creating them in his own style. I guess, the only reason he chose Uraraka was because she looks rather normal compared to characters like Tsuyu or Jirou.
Overall, I wouldnt blame Tabata style for this, especially, because the intention of this whole thing was to re-create the others maincharacters with his own style, and not to copy-paste them. In the end, I would rather praise Horikoshi in this case.
To each their own I guess. I'm not a fan of how his Uraraka design. I just don't see what's particularly terrible about it.
It's well proportioned, well rendered, and looks like a girl. My only real criticism is that it doesn't look all that much like Uraraka. But in general it's a well drawn female. I wouldn't look at the drawing and think "this guy can't draw". I just don't get what makes it flat out garbage is all.

There's bound to be some characteristic discrepancies between drawings of the same character when on is of a more "cartoonist like" style that Horikoshi has and the slightly more "realistic" one that Tabata has. For the most part I think the drawing is a pretty good Uraraka had he shrunk her chest down a size or two and thinned/lengthened the eyebrows it look perfect to me.

Yeah I agree.
I just think it's a so-so Ochako design. Nothing special, but not a bad take on her. Horikoshi definitely did a better job. Just don't see what's so terrible or vomit inducing about Tabata's Uraraka that ppl online keep going on about

the new and upcoming volumes list reveals some endings to some Plus titles

Muttsuri Shinken have volume 2 and 3 listed for July although it barely enough chapters to fill volume 2, so an axe is coming

Macho Gourmet which regularly in the top 5 rankings and was even first place last week have 1 volume with no number on it, so that's definitely a miniseries

which makes me wonder what was the point of starting a miniseries withing their 8 series round? maybe they're preparing the author to move to the main magazine?

It's not so much that she's drawn badly, rather she just looks very off compared to the normal art and even the other characters Tabata drew which all look pretty good.

It's a different magazine but look at the Fairy Tail x Seven Deadly Sins crossever from a couple years back for another example, Nakaba is by no means a bad artist but his Natsu looked plain awful due to him really not being able to match Mashima's style well.

Uraraka is somewhat the easiest one, I cannot even imagine his drawing of Momo, Tsuyu or Toga.
Momo is just gorgeous, the perfection embodied and Tabata would not be able to transmit her sexuality; his drawings of his own characters in swimsuits speak for themselves. Tsuyu is just very peculiar, Toga is also peculiar, but she is grotesquely cute, she is very unique, so unique that you cannot think of anything else that can be described as "grotesquely cute". XD

Tabata trippled Ochako's breast size. Now i want to see what he would do with Oda's females with their ballon tits.

JJBA doesn't have as much nakama power as Fairy Tail. The main series is WSM pillar and it has many spinoffs.

Are Tabata's women voluptuous? Is that why he made Ochako's chest way bigger than it really is?

more like "they can't complain about my lackluster writing if I distracted them with huge tits"

he's just the Mashima/Matsuena of Jump

I'm traumatized forever... The only thing worse than Uraraka was Erina drawn by Isobe author, man...
You can find much better drawings in Pixiv.
What? Isobe!Erina is amazing. How can you be terrified of that?

But yeah, Uravity's boobs are over inflated.

So? I doubt those spinoffs make up for the lack of FT anime. JJBA has a high selling anime so I just find it odd to be placed that low. Does that mean it's merchandise isn't doing that well?

Well isn't the manga also in like Part 8 now? Maybe the anime has no effect on the manga sales since the anime is adapting old parts from over a decade ago

I remember a lot of backlogs for DiU's manga during part 4's run. What? This is franchise sales so include both anime/manga and also merch sales.

idk maybe someone can give me a explanation why or show a breakdown of the sales of the franchise by category (manga/anime/merch).

Jjba doesnt sell that much in disk, not as much as you think, and Fairy Tail normally releases around 6, and maybe even 7, volumes in a year. JJBA releases around 3.

From what I saw, the ranking only includes CDs, BDs, and manga/light novel sales. That's also the reason why Kimi no Na wa is so low despite the movie bringing in almost double the revenue as one piece in this ranking. The light novel was #1 in the rankings for months on end quickly reaching 1 million.

This is also the other reason. Jojolion puts out fewer volumes and Part 4's disc sales have dropped compared to Parts 1,2 and 3.

Merchandise is not counted otherwise some series would be higher up in the ranking.

Ah damn forgot about Hiro pumps out a lot of volumes in a year. Speaking of JJBA anime sales, if what people say/hype up is true that part 5 is one of the most popular parts then I expect (or hope) for a decent increase.
