We're saying the exact opposite.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but you and other called it random and that things just started to make sense right before Grand Line. This is not true at all, the East Blue arc laid the foundation for almost all the crew that remains today and loved by everybody.
People are saying that nowadays authors have too much pressure and has to pile up a lot of things in a few chapters implying that it was not true when One Piece was released. I'm not the best person to answer since I was just a little child at that time, but one thing I can say: a lot of things happened in the first chapters of One Piece, it was packed with information. The most important thing is how you organize it in a way to make it interesting. It is obvious that you will not make all the connections since the beginning and make it "consistent" immediately, but you have to make the reader has the desire to know more.
When the series barely started we don't even talk about consistency because you cannot expect the impossible from a barely started series. Now, all the series used here as an example of lack of consistency like Black Clover and My Hero Academia are already old enough to have people expecting consistency from them.
I don't think that we, as young adults mostly, demands the consistency that Oda implies in his commentary right off the bat. I, personally, have the desire to read a good world and character development in the first chapters (One Piece and Naruto had just that and I loved it), this is just the base for a good consistency in the future. People complain that series are not given time enough to develop, but there are many success at there that proves the contrary. Make it simple with character and world building is the answer, at least for me.

You really missed the point of what we were saying. We were the ones praising how the foundation of the story was stable and simple. Episodic adventure manga are good things.

The foreshadowing nonsense, the connections, and your 'correlation graph' are the noise that writers try to imitate, ignoring what actually made One Piece work. Packing the first few chapters with information is a death sentence and isn't at all what One Piece had done. It never bothered with 'making sense of things,' it kicked the exposition and world building down the road so the characters could progress freely.

razerxs pretty much sums it up entirely. You only appreciate One Piece's foundation upon rereading it to see stuff you didn't see the first time and you appreciate the amount of groundwork being put in early on HOWEVER when reading it the first time you won't notice it because there isn't an abundant amount of information being given to you and its not in your face, its a fun adventure series first and foremost it just so happens to be well-written and and incredibly well-constructed as a bonus.

I disagree, many things stayed in my mind after reading East Blue and many of them turned out to be interesting later on like why Arlong went to East Blue and more about Sanji story, that was not kind of complete. Links between early events and future parts of the series is not something I see from other series that has more of a linear setting, they talk about a given character only once and that is it, many characters are forgotten easily. I say that if any author is trying to imitate One Piece right now, they are doing a really bad job.

Seems like it'll do similar, if not better than Neverland's 1st volume.

One Piece from the beginning had a lot of information, foreshadowing and connections. One Piece made a lot of sense of things since the beginning, but it was majorly comedy and adventure, just like it is today as well.

The reason that it worked so well is because it had a great adventure progression, and the things that showed were all interesting.

How can you say it kicked the exposition and world building down the road when the first page of the series is exposition? And Coby first appearance objective, other than foreshadowing his later development(that could be forgotten, but it wasn't), was exposition and world description/building.

What do you mean by character could progress freely?

Just good news for WNL. I'd like to contribute to the sales since the beginning, which is important, but I will have to wait my next order from Amazon Japan, accumulate some things to make a good bundle. Gonna buy physical, maybe I will buy volume 1 and 2 together.

Those are just minor trinkets to the story only meant to connect the dots to things you probably wouldn't have asked to begin with, how Arlong got to East Blue doesn't really add anything to his character we didn't already know its just a fun tidbit that's meant to come full circle when you see how it connects to the themes of the Fishman Island arc and to tie up loose ends between Jinbei and Nami but it doesn't really do anything for Arlong himself since as the Tigerfish flashback showcases he was always a racist. In regards to Sanji I always thought his lineage was a bit lacking back then so this latest arc does wonders to flesh out his character even more and I'm hoping Wano will do something with Zoro considering how much we don't know about his childhood before he met Kuina.

We're setting a very low bar if "pirates hide treasure" and "marines exist" is supposed to count as world building. Where? When? Why? How?

Y'all don't seem to appreciate how much information was just left open-ended for the first year or two. By free progression, I mean what Oda said about the nutcracker: "created to entertain" and without "making sure everything is connected or all the events have been properly foreshadowed of hinted."

Backstories, power levels, relatives, and anything else that could constrain the characters early on was outright ignored so that when an interesting twist eventually came along, it didn't need to follow any rules.

Try to find any early exposition that isn't just for a cover story or the pirate rap.

I just realized the new issues are at the top of the page now.

But can't read for some reason. I'm a member, but it says I still have to buy the issue to read it

Takuma Youko skill come brightly when handling human relationship and psychology aspect that to being said if this going to be pure "sport" manga then that not guarantee his survival in wsj, he need to draw out what this image implying. Childhood friend? Love triangle? and his typical drama.
I really wanted him reboot Onani master kurosawa in WSJ rather make another random daring manga.

btw that trending romcom....
that Tsunehiro couldn't get the idea from Tsuki ga kirei right?
i mean romcom revolving social media????
