You answered your own question. The studios would be in famine if they depended on TV ratings because the majority of them are aired in a bad time.
Toei is the studio that gets more anime in the top 10 ratings and even them put the draft of the episode to air, so it is hard to convince me otherwise. TV is meant to advertise the anime a little bit to sell more BD/DVDs, I bet.

That is not quite right. There are a lot of series that don't air late in the night. I would say that in any given period of time there are almost the same number of series running during the day as those in the night.

Toei animation earns more money from TV than Disk Sales, and even if that wasn't the case TV is highly important, because an episode needs a lot of money up front to air on TV, and that is not something that animation studios, even Toei Animation, are comfortable or able to do. They are able to get that money through Sponsors, and the objective of sponsors is appearing at the beginning, middle, end of the episode and advertisement. So TV Rankings are highly important.

Toei Animation 2017(April 2016 to March 2017)
TV -> 3.25 Billion Yen
Disk -> 942 Million Yen

The relation you made about the most "quality" product and its importance makes no sense at all. Its sad that many people reach the same wrong conclusion.
Also for a company no section of their business is an advertisement for another, no section, except the Advertisement section itself!
This stupidity of calling less profitable areas "just advertise" to most profitable ones is highly insulting? So what happens when the less profitable area develops to be the most profitable? It suddenly turns to be the advertised one? The definition of advertisement isn't being the low denominator in profit!(In fact REAL advertisements don't even bring a profit, but just cost!)
The same ideas were(and probably still are) in the internet manga community, in this forum as well, where is believed that the magazine is an advertisement for the volume sales. And the entire reason for reaching that conclusion is the fact that volumes sell more, :facepalm. To make this opinion even wronger, the assumption is false, and in fact Magazine sell more!

Not in recent years. The current number of late-night shows far outweigh the day time ones.

Except that's not what any of the people in the industry say? Majority of magazines are purposely printed at a loss and they've been selling less and less every year. Only a handful of mangazines (two really) have any chance of making a profit.

For an episode to air on TV the network that it's going to be airing on pays for the rights to air the show, so the animation company does not have to pay for it to be aired like you said, also other companies pay to air advertisements throughout the show regardless of ratings that's how the network receives it's money. The whole point that sponsors play is that they fund the anime to be made so they can advertise that they footed the bill that help make the anime not air it. Also the animation studio makes more money from airing on tv then they do for disk sells, because that is a stationary price with no need to worry that they won't make any money unlike with disk sells.
Also the reason that the magazine sells more is because it's cheaper the the volumes are.

Yes, in Recent years! While you have 2 to 4 night series in a timeslot during 1 year, you have 1 day series in a timeslot during the same time. This means while looking at a higher view you seeing 20 to 40 night time series agaisnt 10 day series, in reality in a given week the option given to you for day and night time are similar.

Here is a small study I made in the beginning of 2015 about those things(So pretty recent) -> http://forums.arlongpark.net/showthread.php?t=42328

People that try to play with words and math. What the magazine print at a loss as anything to do with selling more or less than the volume? Is obviously that you don't know much about the business to understand. I already pointed about this at least 2 times in this thread.

One Simple question, given that the volumes cost more money to print(paper better quality) and doesn't earn advertisement money, something that the magazines have, how can volumes print in a profit while the magazine doesn't?
Also the magazine prints so much more quantity, 1.9 M copies * 48 issues = 91.2M copies vs 4 volumes * 20 series * 500k(series print average exaggeration) = 40M. This means that the revenue is this:

(Magazine)91.2M * 250 yen + Advertisement = 22.8 Billion yen + Advertisement
vs
(Volume)40M * 400 yen - 10%(author royalties) = 16 Billion yen - 1.6 Billion yen = 14.4 Billion yen

Yep, it makes so much sense to earn more than 22.8 Billion yen, lose it and even get a loss from the exchange, and than recover from it with 14.4 Billion yen from other source. This is literally the concept of being counterproductive and inefficient. Believing that things are like that is the reason that we have people that believe that the Magazine should just end and just go with the volumes. And if this was the case, which obviously is'nt, it would make total sense.

Basically the "magazine is printed at a loss" is a financial gymnastic where all the costs burden is placed to the magazine and not the rest. So is like any other thing is free of cost to produce.

The calculations goes like this:

Magazine revenue -> x yen
Volumes revenue -> y yen
All Costs -> z yen

Progressive profit
1º: we get x yen
2º: x - z = -w. A negative value, loss, so we need anything else to bring a profit.
3º: -w + y = T. A positive number

The thing is there is nowhere in the calculation forcing that y is bigger than x, just bigger than w!

You are using the ~2M of Jump as the standard, when it is a massive outlier in the overall industry. As I said, there are only handful of magazines that have a chance of selling at a profit. Majority of the magazines sell no where close to that amount. The cost of printing and distributing a single issue of magazine is also significantly higher than that of a volume, hence volumes hold a much higher profit margin.

Also, as it says in the articles I've linked, most magazines are sold at a price markup where it needs to sell 2-3 times the printout to break even in cost. It's coming straight from the words of people who are involved in the business.

And no other magazine has any close to series volume average of 500k(not even Shonen Jump) so your point?

Also why is printing the magazine and distributing more expensive than volume? If anything else is the other way around, giving that the magazine has worse paper and ink quality, and is distributed in huger quantities and more frequently than volumes.

I already talked about the cost, the breaking even is talking about every costs that Weekly Shonen jump has, included the ones that the volumes also use, like the Editors and Authors paycheck!

Also, ask yourself this. If the reason the magazine comes in a loss is because it cost more to print and distribute than the price of the magazine, how is selling more copies decreases the loss? By your logic it should increase!

Keep down with the mathematical equations to prove your point, guys. :derp
We, as readers, should be that worried about how much money the publishers take from us? XD

The only one I could actually rank is Straighten Up. I don't have much high opinion on any of the others that I read.

I still miss Condor. And even though the Edited Mangas aren't caught up, I miss Samon too.

About Samon, I feel like the extended serialization despite the mediocre popularity was probably due to the comment from that director saying he would like to do an anime for it. I wonder if maybe Jump was holding off on ending Samon because they were waiting to see if there would be an anime proposal. It's unlikely though.

If its editor was, like, the president of Shueisha, maybe, but otherwise it is not only unlikely, but impossible.

I feel like folks were definitely planning on starting a Samon anime they finished Gintama but then it didn't end.

Its entirely possible that that director already put a proposal forward but couldn't get it green lit. Its usually true that most directors and even producers have some projects that they want to do but are unable to find sponsors. Samon was pushed heavily along side Black Clover, Kimetsu etc but it didn't perform.
