Isn't Hinomaru Zumou right now with Ushio on the pro world trying to be a Yorozuna?

A little missing to tons.
How succesfull was Ippo? Incredibly successful? Kuroko, Haikyuu level?
Umm Ippo is in the top 10 best selling manga series of all time iirc. So it's humongously successful

Im hearing that the reason why the KnY poll had a lot of votes was because it's the first poll that allowed votes for digital jump purchases.

It may start to become a trend where we'll see polls with a lot more votes.

speaking of total sales and most sold manga

you think DBS manga sales should be counted in DB total sales or should it be separate?
Pokemon, Captain Tsubasa, Jojo, Baki, Tokyo Ghoul, AoD, Kindaichi count their sequels sales in their total sales
however Major, GTO, Dokaben, Crows, Yu-Gi-Oh, Boys Over Flowers, Dragon Quest :Emblem of Roto doesn't

Jump is pushing Boruto as a separate thing so I doubt they will count its sales with Naruto
meanwhile Watsuki is a confirmed 1-trick pony so he will most likely push them to count the sequel sales with Kenshin sales

DBS is tricky one tho, they are pushing it as a sequel written by Toriyama, so would they count its sales with the original series?

That's a good question. I honestly don't know. Unlike Super all those series have been running simultaneously for years they're just under different titles while Dragonball Super is the first non-spin-off related material to be released in over 20 years. Though given how some of these things count everything released under the franchise for total sales that might be the case with DBS.

Ippo had 94 million copies in print as of 2013.

While it has been running since 1989, that's still nothing to sneeze at. Its beyond Kuroko and Haikyuu in terms of influence. There are probably many pro boxers in Japan who were inspired by Ippo and the boxers in Ippo to become pro boxers just like Hikaru no Go caused a huge surge in interest in Go.

Also, YoI keeps being brought up but that's almost an anomaly in terms of sales. While there may be a considerable gap between YoI and Kuroko and Haikyuu, both of those series are still leaps and bounds above the average anime BD sales, where getting a 10k average is considered a huge success. YoI is basically differentiated by other bishounen anime and manga because of how it goes full throttle in making the usual fan shippings between male characters canon. I haven't actually watched it outside of a few clips and even I know, due to how much of a phenomenon it became last year, of that canonization of the pairing. It can also be seen as a sort of climax of the "fujoshi" phenomenon that is growing. The actual formula itself is almost the same and the one Jump sports series have been using for years.

this whole thing gives Food wars vibes
and I'm not just talking about the Soma/Erina dynamics from the leads but it looks like it's doing the Food Wars thing with "battle manga without actually being a battle manga"

Dear Ono, you where supposed to be the chosen one, I have been shilling you in this thread since 2015, I wanted a battle manga but you gave me this, I won't judge you so don't embarrass me my boi

As a hater of the sports genre that was great, liked the rivalry and the full spread panels. Obviously, it's gonna be something cooking between the two mains which means Sharkbait is gonna hate this one while Leoat will love it.

Full Drive seems to be full of energy. The use of speedlines for impact is nice, which kind of helps the more dynamic shots to stand out. But that doesn't hide how amateur the art really is (though I have to admit it is above Sporting Salt). Human body proportions are awfully out of whack almost in every panel.

Do we know how young Ono is?

when you guys says "great art" are you talking about the paneling and backgrounds or the actual character designs? or both? cause I've seen much better character designs from rookies or amateurs
