Its okay to just admit he's lazy. A lot of people can't follow his fights is general because they're poorly drawn on top of having too much exposition.
The last thing I will do is call a mangaka, regardless of their series' release schedule, lazy. Having too much exposition is something I will agree with and is why I hope they can pair him up with a more experienced editor who can actually help him cut down the size of those walls of text. However, Togashi has been "minimalist" from the beginning even back in Yu Yu Hakusho where in some panels, you'll only see the bare minimum of what's happening, where that's a strike or movement. That can be due to not having enough time to draw in all other details but as long as everything flows and the story is interesting, its fine.

The current story is interesting but its without a doubt a drag to read sometimes due to the huge walls of text and most likely comes back to my gripes with current editors. Seeing as how Soma currently has a newcomer to the editorial office as its editor, HxH also probably has an editor in their 20s. If you're going to put such young people on such a "thick" series then they better either be incredibly well read or at least show that they can keep up with all the events and make interesting suggestions.

One of the best examples of this is the Kurapica special chapter in which the last few pages are filled with long detail descriptions of the the massacre of his clan. Yes he does not draw it but describes it on paper like novel and calls it a day. I guess his back was acting up again.
It was only one page and i think it was a better decision to describe it rather than drawing it, because there's still some mystery in Kurta clan's massacre so showing exactly what happened might ruin it.

That's a really shitty excuse.

The YYH manga is just not that good for that very reason. Pierrot actually had to fill in the blanks that Togashi himself failed to do and he adpatation turned out to be better than the source of material. You can call it minimalist but many industry veterans have called out Togashi's procrastination one being of course being Hisachi Eguchi (Stop!! Hibari-kun) being more of a bad habit but of course nowadays his health is also a reason why he doesn't finish things on time and has to basically "cheat" to put less strain on himself. And being a mangaka is really just a profession you have to be dedicated to since its very time consuming and stressful especially on a weekly schedule hence why I don't fault Oda for taking a break every fourth week if it means it doesn't kill him since he still pushes out quality stuff while HxH can be a bit of a mixed bag especially if we don't know where Togashi is going so I don't really blame people for being fed up with an arc that's been running for 2 years and we still don't exactly know where everything is headed or if it'll be worth the wait.

I thought the YYH adaption was worse than the manga, they turned 160 chapters into 110 episodes, when series have that kind of pacing nowadays, people consider it a garbage adaption...

Damn, Uzui looking fresh in the color page. I used to think Rengoku was the best but now Uzui is flamboyantly outshining the competition. Hope he gets a volume cover.

The Yu Yu Hakusho anime was actually a massive improvement over the manga. I consider it one of the greatest battle shounen adaptations ever. It's almost hard to believe how good the animation is throughout, especially for the first half and for a series that ran in the early 90's. Don't even get me started on how wickedly awesome and how creatively animated all the fights are. Togashi's manga always seem to get top tier adaptations.

Yeah right because it would have been better if he showed what happened then rather than keeping it till Kurapika's story with the phantom troupe reach its climax? :facepalm
And let me remind you that those two special chapters' name is Kurapika's memories, he wasn't there when his clan was getting slaughtered so it's an obvious thing it wouldn't be a part of his memories lol.

What Hisashi Eguchi said was about HxH hiatuses not YYH, and his health has been a reason even since then not just for nowadays
He’s Had Back Problems Since the Time of Yu Yu Hakusho
“Sensei!?”

Since Hunter × Hunter began serialization, it has become infamous for its large amount of hiatuses in between. Though some fans say that Togashi is slacking off and playing video games (and as seen in the manga, he does get distracted by them sometimes), it is widely known that Togashi has had back problems that have been plaguing him from years. One time, Ajino found Togashi lying down on the floor out of sheer pain during the serialization of Yu Yu Hakusho, but he continued to draw with his belly face-down, only asking for Ajino to go buy him a warm compress at the convenience store while he continued to draw. This is when Togashi was still in his mid-to-late 20’s.

“When I saw him drawing even in that condition, I thought about how hard it must be to be a professional manga artist. At the same time, I felt the strength of Sensei’s sense of responsibility.”

Ajino remarks that he doesn’t remember Yu Yu Hakusho ever taking a break, except for just one week when Togashi took off to go and do research for the manga.

You don't even know if that's even the case to begin once again that's just a very shitty excuse and any mangaka would have gotten blasted for pulling that stunt.

Then why wasn't the flashback in POV? Why does Kurapica remember a person who look exactly like him in his own flashback? Its like you were trying to be clever and didn't realize the hole in your own logic.

I never said it was referring to YYH or HxH but Togashi in general. His habits have been known since YYH but I'm sure you'll defend any instance of bad art as minimalism or intentional.

Dont know what to say to you then. Bad scan quality are usually the main reason why some people have difficulty following fights. They're pretty straightforward.

Have you actually even watched it? Because the adaptation doesn't even adapt the early portion of the manga where it was just Yusuke doing good deeds to get back to life.

Just because they skipped some pointless chapters is irrelevant.. It has Toei level pacing. For example, the Dark Tournament arc was only 60 chapters and had very little dialogue but it was stretched into 40 episodes in the anime. It's painfully slow.

Golem Hearts got a shoutout from Tabata and Gotouge, is it ok to be optimistic? It's nothing to talk about rn but maybe it could be more interesting with good world building

The pacing is just right for the YYH anime. Everything is very exciting and well executed, the buildup is just right. The Dark Tournament arc is in my opinion the greatest battle tournament arc you'll find in anime, every fight one after another is an absolute pleasure with perfect buildup and story bits thrown it at just the right moment. I'm also questioning if you've seen the anime.

I wouldn't get too excited about it yet. It's usually a big deal when a really big author gives out a shout-out to a newer starting series from a new mangaka, we've seen it has helped Kimetsu and Neverland, to name some recent examples, but those got shout-outs from titans of the manga industry.

I have, but I can easily say that I vastly prefer the anime over the manga, they are both great though. You just seem to dislike the anime because of the pacing and you seem to ignore all the amazing things this adaptation does when it comes to its directing and animation, looking at your posts I saw you even wanted a remake for the anime, that won't happen because the anime is as good as it gets, what would we gain out of a remake?

Even if it gets a 60 episode remake like you said you wanted in the past, do you honestly think it can live up to the original anime when it comes to the directing and animation, it's kind of miraculous how good the anime for YYH looks for a TV production that was running for such a long time, in the 90's. What studio could possibly top the gorgeous animation work that was put into the 90's anime? What director would you like to see? Also, no studio will dedicate itself nowadays to a 60 episode anime any longer, except for Toei and Pierrot maybe, long running shows are dying out.

Edit: It would make much more sense to remake Kenshin.

Geez. Really sad to hear about this. I know its not common but do you think this week's episode of Super will give her a memorial send off? Hard to believe that the last line from Bulma was her saying goodbye to the Z Fighters.
