You are not updated, the manga is at volume 21 and the anime has just arrived at 14.

7 volumes, is a season of Hero covers 8.

Then once reached what does it do? Do you make fillers to the bitter end?

A hiatus is impossible.

Why would he even need to do that? It's not clear yet if he is even sick.

Apart from the comment where he apologizes for the few pages I do not see many hints honestly ...

From his message, seems like he will definitely move away from Jump to another magazine, still he will be allowed to continue his story and with a less stressful schedule

I guess it depends on the page count.. If he can do 85ish pages every 3 months, that's 2 volumes a year, which is pretty good IMO.

SQ.Rise chapters are not that long. The usual page amount in that magazine is still 40-50 pages per chapter. Biggest chapter in the Summer issue was Kekkai Sensen with 63 pages, but I doubt that will be the norm even for that series.
(On a different note, the D.Grayman chapter in that issue was only 25 pages long, so that is also possible).

There's been issues where BBB goes up to like 90 pages and DGM has pretty much single digits, there's really no set page count.

(Also, these one week break are usually used to work as well, just with a more lenient deadline, so it's not like Horikoshi just chills for a week)

I dont think anyone suggested an indefinite one, however a two year hiatus as suggested seems the most reasonable. Horikoshi could recover from his artist's/writer's block, he could hash out all his ideas, predraw tons of storyboards at a humane pace, and ultimately return to drawing chapters at full length. It's a win-win situation for everyone.

I waited two years for that, constantly posting comments in the WT thread to check who else is left alive of the old WT fan crew. Sad times. I do hope Ashihara gets moved to a monthly magazine and not a 3 month one but I'll take anything I get to see WT in some way concluded.

With the movie, the trip to the US and S3 I thought that the first half of 2018 would be full of hiatus. Horikoshi held out pretty well for a dying man.

I'm not the biggest fan of WT, but it's good to see Ashihara returning. When Vinland Saga went to another magazine, everything changed, tone, pacing and art. Will the same happen to WT? It would be nice to see less simulator training and more violence and horror.

Really happy to see World Trigger coming back. It was one of my favorite manga on Jump and I'm happy to see it again.

It's a shame that it's possibly going to be on SQ.Rise with seasonal since we'll see few pages and chapters in much more months but at the same time I can't complain when that's probably for the best for Ashihara to continue the series in his pacing and how much he can do.
