At least, not in WSJ. Weekly Sunday suddenly got two decent battle adventure shounens: Marry Grave and Soukyuu no Ariadne from the author of Claymore. WSJ made a big mistake by letting Yagi go to a different magazine with his idea, since he published a one-shot with the same idea in WSJ before he went to Sunday. I recommend both, they're rather simplistic, but in a good way and they both just started out, with both having under 10 chapters. Jump do have two new battle shounens with some promise in Jump SQ, with Kemono Jihen which looks like it will become a staple series in the magazine and Black Torch which is hanging on for now.

Great news, together with the fact that the manga is 50% done already. I'm looking forward to this wild somewhat shorter ride, I think it's for the best if this manga isn't a long runner. This means we must be getting an anime soon, since this won't have the longest run ever and they need to capitalize when the manga is still ongoing for starters.
With actual rythm, means manga will end around 2019 fall and last volume out in december or january. So if you Shûeisha make big think, we can think like that :
-Anime in 4 season : January-april-july & september 2019. LIke that anime will end same time last volume out (like Assassination Classroom if im right)
-ANime in 3 season : April-july & september 2019. LIke that anime will end same time last volume out.

it might get Bakuman treatment where the last season aired (Oct 2012) after the manga ended (April 2012).

3 seasons too, 25 episodes each.

I don't know, I feel like the only reason why Bakuman got that treatment was because of NHK.

TPN author is smart. Start at the top stay at the top and maybe end at the top.
I agree, TPN does not seem to me the type of manga that can be prolonged too long.
Better to close when it is still on the crest of the wave.

I gotta agree looking at em objectively. On the contrary, for those that like it we have a lot of diversity
I think that to see another successful battle we will have to wait a few more years, when MHA and BC will be finished and we will have to fill the space left

I don't think we will have to wait years for a new battle manga success

I think we will have at least 1 success this year (Kishi's new manga)

I gotta say, I'm greatly disappointed with this news. I was hoping Neverland would be a long-running series, but I guess that's not going to happen now.
Sounds like it’ll have anywhere between 16 and 20 volumes, which is pretty long imo

But we don't even know if Kishi's new manga is action oriented or if it'll even be in WSJ. Maybe we'll have a successful battle manga this year, I don't know if it will be Bozebeats.

Now that it's pretty much confirmed Golem Hearts is dying, what do y'all think it should have done differently?
The action wasnt that engaging. It was rather vague how golem actions actually worked and the use of paint to modify one golem was not that interesting presented, which I guess, was a mistake: One strength of action in shounen is, to imagine the action for yourself, like how kids loves to do ninjutusu,, or throw punches in the air and act as if they arms getting longer like Luffy's or re-acting a Kamehameha with their arms. Missed that element in GH, which made it less engaging, which for a new Shounen manga, is quite unhealthy.

Ironically, I also didnt enjoy the design of the Golems overall. Though this is more personal taste-thing.

I guess, the slow beginning was poisonous for a manga nowadays. I've loved it, but probably better, when it started with the exam or even after that? Showing Noah's adventures as an arcanist? You know, more 'in medias res'-like.

Editor say big information about The Promised Neverland :
-In terms of pre-publication, the series has just entered a new arc. As far as the manga story is concerned, we've are just in 50%.
-This year and next year, the publisher and the two authors are going to do their utmost to make the series more and more interesting and wish, in different forms, to convey the unique aspect of the series and its strengths.

So if 50% perhaps 16-17 volumes in final. And "different forms" no surprise i guess wil have anime and pershaps other adaptation.

That's good, it's good to know that the writer wants to end his story while still popular, rather than prolonging the story just to get more money.
I'm waiting for the anime.

Why so soon. I was hoping for a genre change to a battle series. All those weapons

Another fatal flaw I'd like to point out: The action scenes are just plain stiff. Even SnS had a lot of energy in its cooking process, even though it's not a straight up battle manga.

With so much new information being introduced, I really can not see TPN ending with 16 volumes. Unless the author use the "exposition mode" at 100%.

Is 17 volumes good enough?

It would be, if the manga were just about kids trying to escape the orphanage. Now it has become more One Piece-esque.

I never thought TPN was going to be a long series to begin with especially with these recent chapters giving a bulk load of exposition and not much characterization. It's pretty much Attack On Titan minus the 20 volumes of build up and development so outside a few twists and turns the setup we have not is what the story is going to be about.

Look like the end of The Promised Neverland is fixed still start. Auhtor know how serie will end.
Doesn't really mean anything since most mangaka already have a plan on how a series will end from the get go. Horikoshi already told us that he already has in mind what the final battle will be and where is a good point for him to end it and we all know that Oda has the same ending for the manga he's had in mind for 20 years considering his original plan for to end it after just 5 years.

With the story being at 50% and with the overall pace it has, I don't think the manga will reach over 20 volumes for TPN, so here's some anime possibilities.

They'll either release the first season soon and it will have 1 cour and it will adapt the first part of the manga. (which would mean it would be really close by, Fall 2018 in the earliest). It would adapt chapters 1-37. This would be closest to the BNHA approach, where they got an anime out ASAP.

Or it will be a longer two cour adaptation and they'll wait until the manga is closer to ending and start releasing an adaptation then, like WSJ did with Ass Class. When the Ass Class anime was announced, there were 96 chapters out for the manga. When the first season started airing there were about 123 chapters. (the manga only has 187 chapters overall)

It's also worth looking at Bakuman, which got it's anime announcement when it had 65 chapters out. The anime started airing when there were about 105 chapters(the manga only has 176 chapters overall). This series was lucky to have NHK backing it up, because it resulted in a satisfying adaptation of the entire manga. edit: well, for the early 2010's period it was lucky at least. Can TPN get NHK backing, not impossible since S3 of SNK got picked up by NHK.

Or they'll go the Death Note route and give it an anime that adapts the entire thing in one go, which seems unlikely.

Ass Class - 21 volumes
Bakuman - 20 Volumes
Death Note - 12 volumes

I think everyone already said everything it needed to be about Golem Hearts failing; weird pacing, bland action, bland characters, power rankings, poor beginning, poorly-executed ideas, to say a few...

It killed to me once the author decided to introduce an edgelord rival than rather than a character seems more like a walking parody of the archtype, also Noah is just plain boring; him being over the top innocent and naive can get to the point of being annoying and cringy, definitely wont miss it when it gets the axe

With Neverland, I never saw it as true long runner, at least not getting over 6 years, I can totally see it having a Bakuman/Assassination Classroom-type of length, so its good that the author wants to end it on his own terms in a high note rather than dragging it out

I can definitely see Neverland ending in 20 volumes. That seems like a good number to me. The 50% number feels like an approximate, although it currently has roughly enough chapters for 8.5 volumes so it isn't that far off from my estimate. Urasawa's Monster also ended in 20 volumes.
