Holy crap I forgot it even got axed. I was thinking to myself “maybe if Golem Hearts and Fulldrive get the axe Shuudan can be saved”, but then looked on MAL and remembered

Golem Hearts is following a trend similar to Demon's plan. The difference is that Demon's plan was cancelled by around this time whereas with Golem Hearts, we know it might not be around for much longer but the end is still not in sight. They'll probably release at least 3 volumes. Demon's plan volume 1 sold around 893 according to book-rank's daily sales estimate. We can assume that it was a little higher in Oricon but Golem might also do similar numbers.

Darlifra could be Jump+'s new flagship, assuming they continue it even after the anime ends. Its certainly an impressive start though looking around, Yabuki's name might be the clinching factor here. One person I saw didn't even watch the anime but had heard about it and bought it due to Yabuki. The next factor might be the uncensored nipples and the TLR fanservice.

Whoa, it's almost impressive that Golem Hearts is doing that badly. That's like, worse than Spring Weapon bad :cheez. Sad because out of all the fodder series in the last few years, it's one of the few I would actually buy. Interesting to see how well Lycopene's doing though. We always knew it would be safe, but I didn't expect it to get such a solid start. It probably won't grow much considering the general trend of series like that though.

Was also hoping Saguri would do a bit better than it is, but Jump + series generally have it tough at the start.

I honestly think we didn't have a decent battle/adventure manga since KnY

Golem Hearts, Demon's Plan, Red Sprite were all pretty bland
I gotta agree looking at em objectively. On the contrary, for those that like it we have a lot of diversity

Look like the end of The Promised Neverland is fixed still start. Auhtor know how serie will end.
That's a really good sign.

Which series have announced that they have the ending in mind before ending? Preferably well before it's end. OP, HxH, MHA & now TPN comes to mind, any other series where they officially come out with this sort of news?

Now that it's pretty much confirmed Golem Hearts is dying, what do y'all think it should have done differently?

In my opinion, I still think the one-shot would have been a much better introduction. Sure, it was obviously inspired by One Piece's beginning, but it was a lot more solid than the actual introduction we got. Plus, the forced marriage conflict in the one shot was better executed than the kidnapping conflict in the serialization.

I think the main problem though was the lazy execution of the exam. Compared to HxH's and Naruto's exams, which had multiple stages with many characters being introduced (some of them becoming fan favorites), Golem Hearts' came across as a poor excuse of an exam. For something as sophisticated as an arcanist, you would expect the exam to be thorough and extensive. Instead, we got a cheap retrieval mission that seems more like a beginner RPG quest than an exam. Plus, the whole "only one person out of hundreds pass each year" is such a cheap way to create tension (although that problem isn't necessarily unique to Golem Hearts as Naruto did it as well).
The other problem with the exam being so short is that there was no time to establish any characterization for what seems to be the main characters or even introduce new characters. We really only got a few characters out of it. One is really just a side-liner, the other proclaimed his friendship for Noah with no apparent reason, and the last is an edge lord with hazy motivations for being an edge lord. I'm not asking for the characters' entire back story to be revealed, I just want to know who they are and why they're there. The aforementioned manga's exams gave us personalities, back stories, motivations, actual reasons to care for the characters. Sadly, it seems like the mangaka wanted to quickly rush into the action leaving characterization behind.

I'll admit, I was biased towards this manga. I liked the one shot, the art and premise was unique, and I was interested in how a proxy battle manga would do in Jump. Plus, it seemed like this was his passion project considering how there were multiple one shots. Unfortunately, Golem Hearts was something that brought my hopes up then quickly turned into a disappointment.

Editor say big information about The Promised Neverland :
-In terms of pre-publication, the series has just entered a new arc. As far as the manga story is concerned, we've are just in 50%.
-This year and next year, the publisher and the two authors are going to do their utmost to make the series more and more interesting and wish, in different forms, to convey the unique aspect of the series and its strengths.

So if 50% perhaps 16-17 volumes in final. And "different forms" no surprise i guess wil have anime and pershaps other adaptation.

Generic boring MC, poor written unexplained power system, mediocre art

Problems with GH for me were the slow intro, general lack of any development, and resorting to too much edge. I do think it was better than the average fodder battle series we get, but it suffered from most of the same problems. I generally agree with what everyone else has said except the art. I freaking adore the art in this series, one of my favourite styles in the mag atm. It feels like OP meets MHA and I just find myself salivating over it every time I read it. Definitely the series best point.

Why do mangaka keep drawing these vague concepts that never explain or develop anything though? Its pretty much what kills them and really saddens me about GH because the world and concept was pretty sick, the author just gave it no substance. Bozebeats has had a much faster paced intro, but it’s still been very vague which doesnt give me high expectations. Not to mention two monster of the week chapters in a row, further delaying that.

Want to comment on the author research and not the plot exactly.
I just read The Golem by David Fishelson and I notice a lots of similarity with the Golem that portray in the play and the manga. The author clearly did his research beforehand or read the wiki, either way it is pretty good. He just needs to find a way to execute it Some example

How golem killing other humans
Noah is naive and doesn't know anything (the golem is the same thing)
The way Noah act around Lemech ( the golem did the same thing)
the way golem art is applying.

some other stuffs too but i don't remember the plot of the manga, just those two are more recent and stood out. I just find it really interesting, just poorly executed.
---------------

I honestly think having a rank system and a skill system (level 1,2,3) introduce so early is bad for a shounen manga in the long run. Since you already shoot yourself in the foot with that power system.

I gotta say, I'm greatly disappointed with this news. I was hoping Neverland would be a long-running series, but I guess that's not going to happen now.

Rippity RIP for Golem. I wonder if the reader just really dislike the father son setup at the start or the sasuke 2.0 rival. Most likely both

At least, not in WSJ. Weekly Sunday suddenly got two decent battle adventure shounens: Marry Grave and Soukyuu no Ariadne from the author of Claymore. WSJ made a big mistake by letting Yagi go to a different magazine with his idea, since he published a one-shot with the same idea in WSJ before he went to Sunday. I recommend both, they're rather simplistic, but in a good way and they both just started out, with both having under 10 chapters. Jump do have two new battle shounens with some promise in Jump SQ, with Kemono Jihen which looks like it will become a staple series in the magazine and Black Torch which is hanging on for now.

Great news, together with the fact that the manga is 50% done already. I'm looking forward to this wild somewhat shorter ride, I think it's for the best if this manga isn't a long runner. This means we must be getting an anime soon, since this won't have the longest run ever and they need to capitalize when the manga is still ongoing for starters.
