So what? Anyone can have a character but if your only defense for her being a good female character is that "she gets stuff" but if its not substantial who cares and the fact that you're struggling to find what very little reliance she has in the story is hilarious in itself.
It's substantial. They're setting her up to inherit the throne over her selfish siblings.
Also Ochako had several chapters dedicated to her and even contributed in more fights than Noelle ever did.
This is blatantly untrue.
Except they didn't get written out since they both contributed in the fight against the Yakuza and the aftermath. They weren't written out.
They were written out because all "relevance" they were ever going to get is over. We will likely barely even see them again. At least not more than Mt. Lady.
I'm not even going to touch the latter point since that's just you grasping for straws.
The fact that Magne, of all characters, got killed is grasping at straws? One of the only two female characters in the whole Villain Alliance?
You literally said something that was false and then changed the subject like an idiot. And referenced something that was months ago to something that just happened recently. Good job.
I'm not calling you names so I don't know why you're calling me names. Is this really the level of discourse that you want to reduce this discussion to? What is the false thing that I said?
I'm not even sure if you're even defending Black Clover anymore
I'm not. I'm using BC to make a point about HeroAca, I couldn't care less about BC.
Despite the damning evidence that shows otherwise.
Such as their minimal involvement in the story or the fact that they're second-tier citizens compared to the male characters?
And thanks for proving my point that you don't even know what exemplifies good treatment of female characters in shounen I mean that's why you're defending Black Clover of all titles, citing that writing out a female character from the story is good thing but call it a poor treatment of female characters if they're not given panel time 24/7 and dimissing any evidence that proves otherwise. I mean you literally used Meleoleona as an example of a good female character in a shounen. Jesus Christ.
I said that she was better than a non-character like Dragon Lady.
That criticism can apply to males as well hence why its silly. Its a shounen manga for one thing and the most prominent and dominate characters are always going to be male. They're saying that somehow Hori is worse with treating female characters because they're not given as much panel time....as the main characters.
Iida and Kirishima and SUN-EATER are more "main characters" than Ochako, Momo and Tsuyu?
Emma is cute. A female MC, finally. She just started to have spotlight now, tho. In the early arcs Ray and Norman were more relevant.
Emma became the clear protagonist of Neverland since they met Mujika and Sonju, though. The chapter dedicated to her finally learning to kill living beings and coming to term with her siblings' deaths had a level of depth I doubt Deku or Asta will ever achieve.
She also runs away from those stereotypes I mentioned earlier, but, unfortunately, she fits into another: the perfect heroine.
Is Emma more perfect than your average male protagonist? This is a pretty ridiculous double standard.
When Ochako fought against Bakugou, it was cool. She was was crying, bleeding, sweating, she was giving her all. I want to root for her. I root for her. GO, GURL! XD (I miss it, Horikoshi!). Anyway, this doesn't happen with Emma. And why?
Because Neverland is not a battle manga?
Because whenever there is trouble, she overcomes it with a speech, a secret plan, a special ability, a pen. It's time for the author to be less complacent with her.
What point are you trying to make? You realize that this basically applies to every single shonen protagonist, right? I mean, whenever Deku is in trouble he overcomes it by unlocking another 5% of One for All.
This is probably going to be an unpopular opinion on here, but honestly, I don't really care about how much screentime the female characters get, and I don't expect there to be much of a female presence either. The only time I will care is if the female character I really like has too little screen time.
At the end of the day, Hero Academia, Black Clover, Reborn, etc are all shounen manga. It's only natural for the male characters to be in the spotlight. It's not like the manga needs a strong female presence to be successful.
Honestly, if that's what you're looking for in shounen manga, especially battle shounen, then you're just gonna find yourself disappointed.
I won't really lose any sleep over it, I just find any and all praise for HeroAca's female characters silly when they're barely two-dimensional and experience very little growth. I'm just arguing against HeroAca specifically.
