I guess I'm the only one who thinks BC could end with less than 25 volumes because how ridiculously fast everything is going.
Take the current fight between Chronos and Licht for example. They just told everyone who the real traitor was and now he is fighting the Magic Emperor.

  • If Chronos dies the title of Magic Emperor will be open and Asta/Yuno could take it, because plot.
  • If Licht dies the main antagonist of the manga is gone.
  • Right now the captain of the Golden Dawn is gone either way (the guy who looked like Berserk's Griffith was the traitor, how shocking) and Yuno will become the next captain, because everyone else in that guild is literal fodder.
  • If none of them die and Licht escapes he won't have anywhere to return to, because the Fire Lion captain is destroying his floating castle.
  • If Licht wins and gets the Magic Stones (Infinity Stones didn't sound cool enough, huh) he can erase all of humanity.
You could speculate which scenario comes true, but this is BC and the most cliche one will come true so Yuno is gonna become the next Golden Dawn captain, Chronos will die to protect the kingdom, Yuno and Asta will be one big step closer to their dream of becoming Magic Emperor, and after that there will be nothing left than to defeat Licht and save the world from the evil elves.

Doesn't sound like something that could go on for over 30 volumes without going 4 times slower than the anime.
I think that's possible as well. Look at the volume counts for Black Cat, Houshin Engi, Nurarihyon no Mago, each Jojo series from WSJ, Medaka Box and Yu Yu Hakusho. In the early 2000's and the 90's most succesful manga from WSJ seemed to meet the 18-25 volume sweet spot and it's still fairly true today.

MHA will end before BC. MHA has a condensed world and less potential lore other from OFA users and the hero system. Not saying BC has lore or if it does its spectacular but guess theoretically it has more potential.

I agree with Crossiant, hopefully WNL ends timely within 100-120 chapters. Nisekoi gave me trauma to romances because it was the first romance I've read that started the whole "aimless plot connecting chapters" where for consistently over 100 chapters there was no correlation between any of them. The first 140 chapters of Nisekoi might of been the most entertaining romance I've read, although at that time I've really only read TLR and Prison School.

I think you might be underestimating Black Clovers concept. It was said in a chapter that the only way for Asta to become Magic Emperor is through results that make everyone in the kingdom want him to be the Magic Emperor since its an appointed position by the people of the Clover Kingdom, and its to be assumed that to become a captain level magic knight you'd have to do something similar but to just the squad your in as well as prove to the current Magic Emperor you can take on the duties of such a position. Also there is a lot more that can be explored beyond just the WNDE plot thread there is the conflict with the Diamond kingdom as well as the Spade and Heart Kingdoms that could each be made into there own plot threads and potentially other such places to explore. Black Clover has the potential to be pretty long and doesn't in my opinion hove a definetive plot thread that will be the end of the series as soon as it is resolved.

"aimless plot connecting chapters"? Are you guys in the "invent meaningless expression to explain the inexplicable" stage? What the hell is that? XD

I like to experience HxH by reading the volumes so I haven't read the recent chapters. I heard developments are rather slow but I don't see the series going past like mid 40's. I think that's a bit too much especially since the main cast have already accomplished her goals or are damn near close.
What's the latest chapter did you read? the current arc has so many characters, subplots and details that it can be long as much as The Chimera Ant arc (and may surpass it) and obviously the next arc after it would be even much longer as long as the story doesn't get rushed, Togashi can continue the story even if the main cast complished their goals.

I don't know why but I don't see Yuuna surpassing TLR in volumes... maybe only if it focus on the three families and Kogarashi as a Yatagahane.
That is correct. Story wise Tadahiro can end it in 1 year (48 chapters). It all depend on its popularity for the next 2 years.
OP will be alive when all these titles have already gone, but... people will call me crazy, but I feel that at some point the popularity will fall. Not catastrophically, but ... where else Oda can go? I really like the series, but... honestly (that's a cliche, I know) I don't feel the same enthusiasm I felt before the timeskip.
I feel the opposite. But that's cool everyone has diff opinion on the series. I think it is still a god damn joy to read every week.

I think Black Clover's got a good chance to outlast every current series bar One Piece (and technically HxH but it barely counts as ongoing).

As long as it doesn't go the Toriko route and kill off much of it's popularity in some way there's a huge amount of potential storylines when you consider it's coming up for 150 chapters and we've only seen enemies from one other kingdom out of the 3 surrounding ones. If there's new plotlines and new enemies for each country and the country stuff is just the first saga, it could pretty easily pass the 500 mark.

I think Black Clover is safer than Toriko ever was though personally, the anime I think was a huge part of Toriko's success (being aired next to One Piece and all) so when it ended a lot of people stopped caring, while Black Clover's popularity comes pretty much solely from the manga and nobody really cares about the anime much.

MHA could also last that long but it's in a condition where it probably start the final arc after only another arc or two as build up, but it could also do the american superhero thing and keep having the villains get away for years and years never planning an actual ending.
Lol what? That's assuming Tabata is skilled enough.

Toriko's sales were pretty much safe up until the end of the monkey arc. It only experienced a significant drop when it started skipping. The anime was a huge part of Toriko's success but Toriko pre-anime was doing more or less the same as BC-post anime. For a battle shonen, BC's sales are abysmal and it really shows with the little boost it got and even KnY is catching up (one day surpassing). BC has gotten a heavy push in the start, far more than Toriko has with it's CP's; first year it had 10+ CP's, second year was 10+ again. What's not to say that the sales don't drop either during the run of it's anime? Toriko experienced drops in sales like a year before the anime's finale.

I think it's stupid to think that BC can easily pass the 500 mark.

Lmao true. Its like "expanded canon". What I mean was the last half of Nisekoi had no rhythm, no flow, no progression, nothing to look forward at one phase. Then the plot blasted you and was poorly handled. My problem was not the length, it was trying to depict a high school life from freshman to graduation but Komi was drunk with how many filler chapters he added. Raku getting worse didn't help, Chitoge getting however better than she started at was still a gorilla, and the endgame for the other girls in regards to Raku was too predictable. That's where the less gimmicks would been appreciated, I don't blame anyone who can't read more than 2-3 romances at a time.

Hope we get a romance that focuses more on its characters than tropes and gags all the time. I said this before but I really appreciate Marika and found her the most memorable even if Tsugumi was my favorite. It highkey felt like Komi put the most thought in her that it went beyond the annoying-pressed-for-Raku's-balls act she put on most of the time.

Toriko is pretty lit so far not going to lie. 160 chapters in. So much PHYSIOLOGY stuff in it. Either Shimabukuro google Wikipedia or actually research with books, still pretty cool.

I guess I'm the only one who thinks BC could end with less than 25 volumes because how ridiculously fast everything is going.
But it's always been like that, it has not started now ....

Take the current fight between Chronos and Licht for example. They just told everyone who the real traitor was and now he is fighting the Magic Emperor.
And so? The clash between Sarutobi and Orochimaru in Naruto and the revelation on Aizen in Bleach were more or less in this area .....
- And why ? Naruto did not become hokage after Hiruzen died .....

- How can you say that? Who tells you that he is the true antagonist? Did you forget the boss who wants to resurrect? Without forgetting the type of Diamond that experiments on children and the rest of the glittering generals.

- Leaving aside the free arrow (you do not like the work, we understand) can always take an exterior as seen with the Purple Whale or with the Crimson Lion

- I think an excuse very tight in the air, do you want there are no other coves?

- And how can you say? What proof do you have?

You could speculate which scenario comes true, but this is BC and the most cliche one will come true so Yuno is gonna become the next Golden Dawn captain, Chronos will die to protect the kingdom, Yuno and Asta will be one big step closer to their dream of becoming Magic Emperor, and after that there will be nothing left than to defeat Licht and save the world from the evil elves.

Doesn't sound like something that could go on for over 30 volumes without going 4 times slower than the anime.
So, let's see:

- The remaining neighboring kingdoms.

- The other generals of Diamond

- The remaining elements and their owners

- The country of origin of Yami

- The true story of the Elves and the first magical emperor.

-The true power of the sleeping captain

- How they met Licht and William.

-The link of the elves and the characters linked to them.

- The origins of Asta and Yuno and why Asta is the only person in the world without magic.

All this, even with the ultra fast style of the author, how can you solve it in three volumes?

You are in the wrong place then, there are a lot of romances out there like you are describing, but Jump is not the place to have romance without cliche, tropes or whatever. I'm fine with both types so that's why Nisekoi is my love while I read much more "unorthodox" things.

From viz interview
https://www.viz.com/blog/posts/interview-mitsutoshi-shimabukuro-542
Q: There’s lots of scientific facts in Toriko. How long do you spend researching every week?

MS: Some weeks, I do my research for five minutes online. Other weeks, I spend half a day reading books. But I don’t particularly get too deep into research.
@bold this article will pique your interest since you already well know about autophagy by now.

Beautiful throw s ***** h to a manga and its author randomly, hoping it will fail ...

I bet you have all the data at hand and you know for sure that there will be no more increases and I bet that the spin off and the game, as well as the novel and reprints is the clear sign that the manga is not interested in anyone .....

It depends on what the end goal is really. If the final objective is just for Deku to beat Facepalm then yeah, if it started focusing entirely on that side then it'd only need about 3 more arcs. It's unlikely of course (since the school stuff is just as if not more important in the story than the league of villains) there'll probably only end up being 3 or 4 more proper league of villains arcs in between all the school stuff anyways.
I honestly don’t think Shigaraki(Face Palm dude) is going to be the endgame villain.

personally I think All For One will be free again eventually, and will reveal he was using Shigaraki for his own personally gain. Shigaraki will be betrayed and All For One will be end game. Or All For One will pass on his abilities to someone else. Shigaraki is All Might’s teacher’s grandson. That right there is Shonen code for “He’ll have some sort of redemption at some point in the story.”. So I doubt he’ll be the big final boss.

Been gone for a week, and there's over 20 pages in this thread lol. Let me go through some random stray comments based on things I saw:

1. I wish Saguri-chan sold better. I hope it doesn't get cancelled.
2. Golem Hearts tanking that hard shocked me. It's failure didn't but this is shockingly bad. Did U19 or anything else in recent Jump history sell this poorly?
3. Is Saiki close to ending or something? I noticed a few people only listed it as running for a few more volumes that what it's currently at. I thought it'd just take over Gintama's spot as the long-running comedy, but if I missed an announcement of it concluding, please let me know.

I wonder when they'll start announcing new series for their next serialization round now that it's apparent that Golem Hearts and Full Drive are getting axed.

I missed you. I've seen some Saiki fans saying that the manga might be approaching to its conclusion and I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case, it's been going for a while.

What if...
AfO is Deku who came from the future? The Deku who fell on the dark side of the force. Just imagine, the greatest villain of the story... is the main character!!! :o:o:o LOL
