Has there ever been a sports series that didn’t take place in real life.

I feel like sports in fantasy worlds would be be good idea. Say a soccer manga that takes place in a world similar to Dragon Ball or One Piece.

I’m surprised you don’t see mangaka attempt stuff like that more often

Overwatch manga adaptation explaining what happened during the omnic war xD

Space Battle manga.
(Obata, Murata and Yabuki would be great mangakas to do that.
Isn't Kishimoto's new series supposed to be a space adventure series?

Jump doesn't need any of those things. Cliches are strong enough in Jump as it is...

remember when togashi wrote a card game one shot then it was immediately forgotten? cause i don't
I'm more interested in the artist of Akuten Wars than the manga itself

his artstyle is cool and Togashi trusted him with his old namu

hoping we will see him again soon

What might also be interesting is sth like an underground sports manga, basically similar to Kaiji just as a sports manga. The characters have the pressure to perform because their life depends on it. On top of that, since it takes place in the underground, they might play with rule variations, players try unfair tactics to win, etc. Although that would most likely end up being a seinen manga instead of a shounen.

People say the author doesn't know what kind of series Stone wants to be, maybe it was trying to be Noah Notes this whole time.

would just like to see a Jump manga that isn't just "joining the high school *insert sport* team". That idea sounds great. I just want to see something that has an interesting spin on the sport rather than the same type of sports formula we've been getting.
