Saw this in Shonen Jump Discord. Awesome Jujutsu MAD is awesome. Dunno if this has been posted in this thread before (at least I didn't see it)

EDIT: Shadow Edited Mangas is back and Editing Ring ni Kakero again. Chapter 79 is out. There is a good chance full manga could be scanlated in spanish at the end of this year if the continue like that.

There are groups that have quit translating entirely because someone sniped one chapter. Sometimes it is just that petty.

Anyway I'm guessing with the news of Viz (unsurprisingly) doing the Kubo oneshot, we're not going to see any new series pick-up announcement from them on Monday. Maybe next week though (since Alice & Taiyou's jump start will end there too).

unless they wait until SDCC, usually they do many of their manga announcements there.

Why were people expecting Viz to pick up a series before this round was done anyway? Obviously they'd prefer to play catch-up on 2 or 3 chapters over the 20 something of Act-Age and Jujutsu.

And do not you mention even Haykyuu which is currently the second series of Jump for sales?
Haikyuu!! is declining. Has been for a while now.

So, Jump Festa was yesterday, wasn't it?

They did that with BokuBen.

WSJ Editor-in-Chief Hiroyuki Nakano say : There seems to be this idea that to sell a lot of magazines, you need "pillars", 3 great series to be exact. Weekly Shounen Jump has three hits with "My Hero Academia", "The Promised Neverland" and "Kimetsu no Yaiba". But if we are talking about the 1+ million class, there is only "One Piece". I fully intend to raise two more "pillars".

Is it translated right? I mean Kimetsu is considered a hit but its sales... Maybe Kimetsu has good digital sales and merchandise sales?. Or the sales data we are following isn't correct?
Since this guy became chief, I feel he is too desperate.

because it was in that group 6 and they waited until the group was done. It would have made much sense to pick up the first series (I had to check and WNL was the first one) if the last 3 ended up being by far the most popular (there was also a gap between Robo and Dr. Stone starting where One Piece had the cover, WNL started Feb 6 and Robo started Mar 20)

Wakes up to a new chapter of Act-Age on 4chan. Enjoys chapter. Goes to Reddit. Notices significantly less upvotes and more comments. Reads comments and shudders. That's a pretty accurate way to describe the way I woke up haha. Never would've thought the translation of the series would contain as much dramatic developments as the series itself. I think I suddenly understand the manga/anime cliche of "please take responsibility" lol

To be honest, I would find exaggerated if FA decided to drop Act-tage because another person decided to scanlate one chapter. I mean, both Jaimini and Mangastream scanlate every week One Piece, Black Clover, etc, and neither group are ''there are other people doing this, I don't scanlate anymore''. I think is more like OfficialHxH has said just now, internal problems that I hope get resolved soon.

Maybe I'm writing with no knowledge. I just want Act-age chapter 10 to come soon.
I don’t know what the actual decision is yet. But It’s not really internal problems, this is just how sniping makes Manga Editors feel. You can’t really use those super popular series as an example though. Especially when the two groups you mentioned have ulterior motives for doing those kinds of series anyway. And if you don’t have any, then there’s literally zero reason to keep working on a series someone else has done. Even MS and JB drop less popular series quite often for that exact reason. There’s no point.

Yep, you're right.

Random thought I've had:

RobotxLaserman has ended with less chapters than Spring Weapon No.1, hasn't it?

But if in terms of copies sold in Jump is second only to One Piece and Hunter x Hunter, when it comes out you mean ......

That is correct. Spring Weapon's final chapter was #67. Also, Spring Weapon's last chapter was higher in the TOC than Robot x Laserbeam, which ranked dead last its final issue

Sure but it sales are declining. Jump isn't gonna call it a pillar anymore when its on a downward spiral. It's like what they did with Bleach once it declined. The one who only still read it are the hardcore fans. Pillars are the most popular ones that generate the most buzz. That's MHA and TPN aside from OP. Maybe the reason he mentioned KnY is because it might be generating more attention than it shows in its sales.

Eh, as for all the manga ......

. Jump isn't gonna call it a pillar anymore when its on a downward spiral.
But if in promotional images and videos it appears practically always ....

It's like what they did with Bleach once it declined.
We do not make absurd comparisons, please. Bleach was finished at the level of merchandasing and sales ....

The ironic thing is that since he became chief, hardly anything new that's been serialized has stuck around for long. Jujutsu is only thing that seems to be a hit but we'll see next week. Neverland probably has his and Jump's full attention due to all the awards its gotten. I don't see a lot of effort from Jump recently in promoting Heroaca. Toho seems to be picking up most of the slack there, fully intending to make a series of movies if this one is a hit. I know making a hit takes time but the recent series' quality really makes me question whether they're trying or not.

I don't know if I'd call Jujutsu a hit, it's not enough of a failure to cancel yet (same with Act-age)
