I agree 100% and as I was watching I get the impression that there was lot of wrong going so it might have been documentary like you said

Cancellation of Fujimaki's Robo X Laserbeam was shown on TV during the 50th Anniversary Special

It's a documentary, why get mad at showing something real, raw, and part of the dark side of jump. I can't think of any documentary that ignores or sugar coats reality, dead poached animals, bad guys winning court cases escaping jailtime, dying humans from copd or other ailment, drunk drivers receiving their life in prison sentences etc.

Exactly, even though it is in bad taste, but that is exactly what I want to see in a documentary, the life cycle of a manga, we were shown a series Cancellation during the first half of the special, (which made me wonder why Ziga that was cancelled in the same issue was shown too?) but they also showed a series getting picked up for Serialisation during the second half. The talk a bit about weekly schedule (in akamatsu part) showed the editorial process and even editors waiting for mangaka for the manuscript(Naito and Oda at the very end)

It does made me realise how much It is like bakuman but way more real.

Edit: Or do you want a documentary like shown in Hinamatsuri (Ok that is a bit on the extreme side but you get the idea)

Hopefully there will be a madman who will sub this. Still, it's too much work.

People being upset is nothing new, it have always been the same whenever a documentary shows the other side of the spectrum.

But it's a manga industry, this isn't a HBO special or Real World on MTV lol. That's why it seems fucked up what they did. The editor was geeking at the end of the call too, I wouldn't of been laughing.

Guess what manga industry is the same as every other industry in the world its business, people go through this literally everywhere.

This is the problem, it was in bad taste. At least it felt like that, from the way it was presented.

Yeah I'm hip, I agree with Sharkbait above. I was saying that its manga, and not something as big as sports or tv dramas, so I wouldn't have been laughing after telling someone you got fired... but it's the what really goes down. Even if Noah Notes author is trash to me I think his comments show real thoughts of authors that the EiC said in an interview about how they battle each other out to cancel one another. But I prefer how Hori went about it, in his recent interview dude kept mentioning being #1 in the polls and how important character popularity is and stuff like that. You don't have to put something else down to prop yourself up.

Remember that this was for WSJ's 50th anniversary. What a nice way to commemorate this author. The close up of his face right after he finds out the news seems like a big fuck you, considering it ended up in this documentary. What a nice gesture.

Difference is most people don't get fired AND have to see how they got fired on TV. This was a dickmove to humiliate Fujimaki.

This right fucking here. He was on TV and we had to witness how he basically lost his job or how he was fired. How nice of WSJ. And then the close up of his face when he leaves the room...

Wasn't this his editor and not him to begin with ? And they wont film if they didn't agree to it in the first place.

If they had filmed the whole progress of it showing the reaction to the serialisation announcement, the first rankings, the decision to do a timeskip, the perma-bottom rankings afterwards and finally showing the reaction to it being cancelled that'd be fine, a nice full mini-documentary, but only showing it being cancelled is just mean.

Again, ya'll really need to stop overreacting and making it seem like it was done to humiliate him. Because all you're doing is spreading false rumors without any hint of proof or evidence.
It's way more likely this was shown with their approvals.

Perhaps the manga writer told a joke and took the news well.
