Always seem like after every Black Clover discussion we go back to talking about Toriko, its like they're connected or something....

Outdated character designs aren't a good argument anymore since JoJo reboot anime part 1 and 2 did great and allowed the franchise to have an international fan base and many memes.

Every time Toriko is being brought up in here it's either character designs or anime censorship that make it failed.

That's not really the main point I was trying to make. But the character designs definitely hurt it a lot more on top of the biggest flaws I pointed out.

How about no. Toriko's ending was more or less satisfying, so let's not degrade it with the Super treatment and instead let Shimabukuro concentrate on something new.

Agreed, Toriko ended well and let Shimabu focus on Build King or whatever new title he has next.

The topic of the Toriko anime has been beaten to death already, we all have different ideas of why Toriko didnt make it. The old character designs argument is probably the weakest argument. Toei just saw it a quick money grab and never really cared about bringing the source material to life. It feels like I'm watching a watered down version of One Piece. That's the biggest problem IMO, it never felt like a Toriko anime (and I'm not even talking about it's censorship).

"Toei just saw it a quick money grab" is such a simplification of the situation when there's so many parts involved on it and many people on toei itself along the freelancers.

I dont know if an making a long running anime is a *quick cash grab* as it seems like its more of the expensive things to pursue and the potential dividends it could pay back are a risky endeavour.

A quick cash grab for a manga seems like something like a mobagame, those soulless game adaptations, ONA/shorts..

I mean, Toriko's anime was definitely sort of a cash grab by Toei. There was no other reason why they censored it and made it as kid friendly as much as they did otherwise. They wanted it to be right up there with One Piece and the collabs with One Piece, DBZ both of which are their franchises were also made to help with that. It was DEFINITELY a cash grab and one they put effort into to try and get results. The only result they got was decent tv ratings mostly because it aired before One Piece.
I really wish some other studio got Toriko. Toriko the manga might've still been here right now if the anime popularity blew up.
