Does anyone have author comments of this week?

About Hot, I'm reading a lot of comments about ''this is an empty manga''. I just think this has the potential to be part of the Big 3 of 2020s.

Just think about this: spokon fujoshis (Haikyuu and Kuroko for example) meet Hitman Reborn characters fujoshis.

New special reprint information:
Urgent reprints that go directly to stores. These are the ones that are most pressing and a series getting in here is a good sign:

These are less pressing and go to warehouse and are sent out as needed
*手*
8/7 ジャンプ D.Gray-man 25 星野 桂
8/10 ジャンプ ニセコイ 1~3 古味 直志

Jujutsu is pretty much the next upcoming hit, as long as it stays good. This is the second time the first volume is being reprinted. Stone, Bokuben getting reprints for all volumes is also a good sign, especially as they're urgent. I wonder if this is in preparation for something though. Heroaca is getting another all volume reprint and this time an urgent one. It previously got 2 reprints, half urgent and the other to the warehouse. This was on 7/27 and 8/1 respectively and included 1-15,17-18. Now, its 1-18 and even vol. 19 which is quite rare for Heroaca. Slam Dunk just keeps on going though.
Awesome, I'm really glad that Jujutsu is taking off quite nicely.

"I wonder if this is in preparation for something though" - I wonder if this might be the case for Bokuben and Dr Stone. We could potentially see Jump Festa OVAs in the near future or we might get even more than that.

Jaminibox dropped My Hero? They're up to date on other jump titles like Stone, BC, WNL, etc. If so damn I wonder why, their translation is a lot less cringe than mangastream and they have better scan quality, mangastream's scan quality looks like they crank up the saturation for no reason
Nah they didn't drop it, their TLer is just pretty busy iirc.

Viz is doing a bonus issue for One Punch Man? Maybe they do want to catch up.

also I guess this puts the nail in Jujutsu's (or any of the currently ongoing series) coffin until it comes time for a home release
Idk, I think that actually means they may very well pick something up. Having 7 weeklies just won’t cut it for reaching the page count they seem to aim for, and when the monthlies and or OP are off, they’ll have nothing else to fill issues with after they’ve closed the gap on OPM. Maybe they’ll subside until the new round and not pick Jujutsu, but either way, I don’t think they can get away without adding a new series very soon. It’ll probably be to their benefit to have 20 or so chapters of a new series they can use to ‘fill up’ smaller issues here and there.

Honestly quite liked Hot too. It just fit the bill of what a sports series needs to do, and was surprisingly fun for ice hockey. Easily one of the better veteran one shots imo, and I would quite like to see it as a series.

I doubt Viz would want to add Kimetsu, Jujutsu or Act-Age to their line-up, they seem to be scared of them. :3c

Who would've ever guessed that Viz would end up in this scenario, I totally never saw it coming. :3c

They can slightly redeem themselves if they pick up Jujutsu as fast as they can. Let's say they don't fully trust Act-Age since it's future can still be unpredictable, I guess that's fine.

Let me guess, are they waiting for a miracle hit manga in the next serialization round, or do they know Kishimoto is coming back? They need to do something and fast. Jujutsu looks like the easiest shortcut.

Maybe because Jujutsu Kaisen isnt that popular in the west? I know Noah's Notes was alot more well received. Pretty sure if Jujutsu Kaisens success was transferred to Noah's Notes itd be in there

Also I don't think the first volume of Kimetsu did all that well unfortunately might pick up with the anime coming next spring though. You guys are really overhyping Jujutsu Kaisen not to say that its bad but just saying that Viz should have picked up based on nothing its going too far. Jujutsu managed to catch on but due to a specific audience which may not be the same audience in the west same with Act-Age but there's next to no audience for it in the US given its material.

Dont think most people in the western world have even heard of Jujutsu. Luke warm reception, delayed translations and support in locations only where the most hardcore niche of manga readers go to, and well no potential anime or other content to speak of.

by my statement I meant the fact they're doing a bonus issue of just OPM instead of Jujutsu, Act-Age, whatever to try and catch up probably means they aren't getting one of them. I wonder if they'd bring back that Jump Back thing they did before (basically a Jump Start but of a series they already published and all digital volumes of said series were on sale during this time) to fill space.

When can we expect the next round? Late August? September? They could take a slight break and wait until October and November if they don't have any authors that are fully prepared.

Momiji and Noah's seems to have the highest risk of being axed, (invade you might survive though not sure) that and if gintama got a "x chapter remaining" next issue, a new round could be on mid-September I guess

Or people are not requesting both of them. Viz actually does respond if the demand is high enough that's how MHA got in to WSJ and why Kimetsu got licensed.

I don't see how that goes against what I said? All I said was the fact Viz is doing a double issue but not adding a new series basically kills the chances of Jujutsu/Act-Age/whatever. The reason you gave is probably why they aren't as Jujutsu had a pretty meh first start so while it has been getting some support the bulk of their readers probably forgot about it by now. If Jujutsu was exploding in popularity here too I imagine the fan scans would at least be caught up if not have multiple groups posting it like all the other big Jump stuff.

"These are your brothers puck and stick." Pretty much the best part about HOT. Other than that, it features "sport characters" personality.

Yuuna anime doesn't boost is as expected, just wait for the Blu Ray sales now i guess. I think it can go to its 3 years anni (Feb) and a little bit over no problem. Act-Age would be nice for the Viz line up

I pretty much gave up on Viz picking anything until Kishimoto new manga (or Build King or Hot if they get serialized next year) comes.

Viz is interested in picking up Jujutsu Kaisen, one of the staff members even encouraged readers to request it in the comments section and surveys. Maybe they didn't get as much support as they wanted hoped, possibly because people didn't really have faith in it actually happening given the track record.

It should be known by now that Viz won't pick anything up willy nilly just because its printed in Jump. Neverland and Black Clover might have been the only cases in which they picked up a series with no preconceived notion that it would have survived the round and Dr. Stone, We Never Learn and Robot might have just been fill ins because they needed replacements but it just so happen those also did well (though there was no doubt in my mind that Stone would have been canned). The outcry this time around makes sense since Viz WSJ is down a series now that Robot has been cancelled and is seemingly sitting on two that they never bothered to pick up due to previous poor reception as @Mankichi Togawa stated they probably are just waiting for Kishimoto's new series to fill in the slot.

Like I said Viz will pick up anything if there's enough support for it. If more people want Jujutsu in their WSJ then push for it you can't expect them to say "this series is getting some attention in Japan so that means we should put it in our line-up" because that was their mentality in the 00s and it lead them picking up series that were popular in Japan but did terrible in the West (Gintama, Reborn and ironically Jojo) leading them to an early cancellation.

I don't think Viz is waiting for Kishimoto(if he even comes back to Jump) or Build King(if that even gets serialized). I think they'll add something whenever it has the same initial hype as MHA and Neverland, but it also doesn't take 50+ chapters to build that hype.

I think paying Jump subscribers simply just didn't care about Kimetsu when it started. It took like 60ish + chapters for it gained a really large fan base, and at that point they probably just figured "Might as well wait for the volume releases" because catching up at that point would have been difficult.

Jutsusu is getting good placements in Japan, and while it's reception has improved overall, people in the West don't really care about it. Most Jump subscribers probably already forgot it, and probably won't remember it until (IF) it gets an anime announced
