I care more about the quality of the manga rather than the gender of the author. Who cares about disproportions? If you make a good manga, it will get its chance to shine.
Believe it or not you can care about two things, and no industry should be dominated by dudes, especially when that results in stuff like Ato Sakurai’s early experiences with a sexist editor and other similar situations, though that starts to get a bit away from Jump in that specific example. Point is it doesn’t hurt to be invested in representation and equality

I really don't care about representation and equality. I care about good quality manga. Quality comes first. The manga industry has plenty of huge authors, both male and female. Pretty much the entirety of manga from the shoujo and josei demographics are drawn by female authors. I don't think it is surprising if there are more guys working on manga for the shounen and seinen demographics. And there are no industry restrictions anyway.

Cool you do you, as bizarre as your opening statement feels to me. I’d like to see more balance in shojo and josei too myself, but I love seeing it happen in Jump especially, simply because more balance in their creators better reflects their demographic breakdowns too. It would be nice.

There's nothing that makes me happier than seeing talented creators finding success. I'm sure we'll see Jump bring in interesting creators, whoever they will be, we can't know for sure until we get to know them better through their art form. Jump has been one of the hotspots where great talents gather and I hope they continue to find success.
I wonder which of the two new gag series is meant to take the end-of-magazine spot, I'm sure they'll try to fill it.
David has a shorter first chapter and definitely sounds strange enough to take the spot, but the other one didn't get the cover which makes me think it might not really have it's own full spot (and hence it might take the end spot).
Even if their content is bad, as long as they’re not breaking any copyright laws, and their videos are made to discuss anime/manga, they have every right to make as many vids as they want

Wouldn’t that go under fair use of they’re using it for educational and discussion purposes though?
Comic Book youtubers uses scans of comics all the time and don’t seem to come under any issues with the companies. They arguably use scans more than manga youtubers

They’re literally discussing this content on a public platform days before it’s legally obtainable anywhere in the world. Even if they didn’t use any scan pics, I’d imagine it’s still a grey area because their videos themselves are leaking the content, whether they’re the source or not.
I’m pretty sure most comic youtubers don’t use official either. However they typically edit out word bubbles.
I’d imagine it be pretty hard to tell which are official and unofficial scans.
However, if Shueisha has an issue with illegal scans, I feel like they should go after the Edited Manga groups themselves, not the little guy who reads and reviews them.
And wanting ppl to be removed due to using scans begs the question of what youtubers should be removed for what. That’s basically saying anyone who uses, say, video game footage, mainstream music, clips from films and tv shows, trailers, and artwork(such as film posters and cd covers, etc) should also be removed from youtube.

If they’re not using scan pics at all I don’t see the issue here. I wouldn’t even say discussing a leaked chapter without using pics is even a grey area. They’re allowed to talk about it still.
And even so, I think it would be a pretty desperate and lame of Shueisha to attack somebody for something so petty

??? When people using music in their videos, youtube automatically puts up the music copyright information as well as links to buy the songs, quite sure theyve handled that issue for years now.
Your video can still be removed from youtube for streaming tv shows and clips if over a certain length*. Unless youre using some weird form of youtube, Ive never seen any joe schmo uploaded full length tv show episode, or movie last on youtube for any type of noticable duration before it was eventually auto removed, and repeat offenders get banned.
I mean... first, fair use is a defense if pursued, not a license to do a thing. Second, it doesn’t work the same way in Japan, so Shueisha are in a good position to crack down on this is they wanna.
But also hey scans, especially pre-release, are such a dark grey as to be black so people do ultimately reap what they sow if they’re getting videos taken down for using them in their content.
There's been an update to our forum rules to broaden crediting/sourcing to all series news/announcement, etc. Please read HERE
