Why would I be jealous towards a series that's overstayed its welcome and reached levels of mediocrity? At least Toriko knew when to end and had a strong ending.
But it overstayed its welcome, after the timeskip mostly all the people who I knew that follow toriko dropped it because they felt that reached levels of mediocrity and was boring.
In a way is good that unlike other author like kubo , kishi or oda , the Shimabukuru's followers still liked all his series and arc, but it also funny seeing it.
I think the vocal fanbase think that unlike other series like bleach or souma, most of the people who readed toriko liked all the arc and wait for a space arc ,but that untrue, most toriko's fans quietly dropped the series and only leave the major fans.
I'm only saying that because only in place like this thread, I'm reading this version of toriko, I think is something funny how internet work.

It would've felt like its over staying its welcome if it had done a space arc/saga but the main thing is that it didnt. Toriko never really felt boring, even during it's timeskip, it was consistently fun/hype through out. The only manga titles that made me feel that way in WSJ are pretty much Toriko/HZ. No doubt, Toriko did rush a lot and had lazy moments in writing towards the end (food luck) but it still delivered on a lot world building/hype.

I cant really say the same for Soma, the Shokugeki concept can only last for so long till it becomes repetitive/predictable. The art and maybe ships is all the series has to boast about at this point. Soma has been awful for a good portion of the central saga + the current arc, which is years worth of content. Toriko only went really downhill after the Bambina arc, at that point Toriko had a little over a year left. Even in that time where Toriko was going really downhill, it still managed to be hype. Also, Soma is unbearable to read and it feels like Tosh/Tsukuda are coming up with things as the story goes along. On the other hand, Toriko did a lot of foreshadowing and it felt planned out overall (even tho it rushed a shit ton of content towards the end).

Honestly, I think you're one of the few people that I've come across that called Toriko boring lol. Ive definitely seen criticism but never really saw people call the series boring.

we know that would be the case (it being on amazon prime) the moment it was announce it would be on Noitamina block

and I actually preferred it being there, way more people as in internationally can watch it legally that way

I never really got Amazon Prime’s complaints.
Amazon does simulcast, and doesn’t damn near everyone have Amazon Prime anyway? They have 100 Million Paid Subscribers. That has to account for like a good amount of Crucnhy and Funimation users.
Anime Strike was stupid because of the extra charge, but thankful that was dropped

Act-age is here and it is going to stay

So jump released a website for Studio Daikokuten (Kei Yonagi's Agency in the manga)

It basically acts (lol) like the studio really exist and that Yonagi is a real actress,
nothing actually new on there yet but I'm sensing a PV is coming soon.

Also you can get this

This is amazing. I'm really hoping Act-Age's volume sales will show some significant growth after all of this promotion

Anime fans are slaves of capitalism and fans of deregulation, so its no surprise they want a monolithic entity to hold all anime streaming power.

AMZN runs the smoothest among all services, so I wish they got more anime.

Funi's dubs are great, hearing Broseph in Hinomaru Zumou dub made me smile so much.

Most Amazon Prime content is blocked in select countries though.

-Sub and video quality are worse than its competitors
-Very limited selection of titles
-Are constantly late with releases
-Still not readily available in parts of the world.

Also just because a platform has a large userbase does not mean even a fraction of it consumes anime making the quality control and selection for anime considerably slim since its not a priority also once that shows license is up its never coming back making achieving impossible. Yeah anime strike was a mistake and getting rid of it after the backlash was a step in the right direction but they still have a long way to go.

I've had Amazon since they launched Video in Canada (end of 2016) and they are rarely late anymore. Iroduku was about 12 hours late for episode 1 but the rest as well as every episode of Karakuri Circus, Banana Fish and Boarding School Juliet have been on time. I find the video quality much better than Crunchyroll. Also what anime has Amazon had "worldwide" rights for that hasn't been "worldwide" (not counting China since they don't stream there and have a partnership with someone else)

Prime Video(technically different) is almost worldwide (200+ countries) malaysia, that got almost none of the seasonal anime from other services, got all the prime video anime

countries that don't get amazon prime can get prime video at almost half the price (monthly)

anyone that actually make an effort for worldwide get my full support (unless they do a netflix, then they only get minor support)

isnt this true for every online service? crunchyroll had license expires that have not come back, funi, netflix, and so on and so forth as well.

-AMZN has been on time with banana fish all but once, beatless and other shows I watched like re:creators, battery, hitohero, were consistently on time.

Its just a fact that Crunchy and Funi have a longstanding relationship with anime fandom and are willing to listen to criticism while AMZN and Netflix only started caring about anime recently once it became apparent that money can be made off them and given that they're much larger platforms than CR and Funi they're less likely to abide by criticism. Amzn only took down their anime strike once it became clear that they were viable to lose money in the process and Netflix's service is still cancerous as ever with them holding down licenses so that people can only view a show six months after its finished and wait another six months for the second half.

AMZN runs the smoothest among all services, so I wish they got more anime.
Well you praising it should be proof enough that its bad.

Once a show reaches its license expiration there's still other ways you can purchase or watch the show outside the platform but AMZN makes it that they hold exclusively rights to stream their shows on their platform most of which have not yet been licensed by a domestic distributor.

.....last week they were late with Karakuri circus and had to retime subs for the previous episodes. This happens constantly with them.

Last week Karakuri's episode was delayed and they had to fix episode 2. Banana Fish was late a few times as well. Most of their licenses aren't available worldwide even now people are complaining that its not available in their region. It escapes my mind that people would settle for crap just for a matter of conviency.

I'm one of those people that did find a significant portion of Toriko post timeskip boring. I continued reading it as at that point I was too far into the story but the Acacia bits were completely horrible and while I can see how someone can find them hype, I read them out of a sense of habit. It didn't help that the pacing was all over the place along with the huge inflation of power levels.

actually wondering what countries that don't get both amazon prime & prime video (honestly want to know, not to refute you or anything)

edit: anything before kabaneri will vary since that is before the deal was made hence licensing problem

again isnt this same true for the others. Many sentai shows are hidive exclusive, non disc licensed CR shows are CR exclusive, funi etc, netflix as well. It doesnt seem clear that AMZN is really doing things opposite or different than their competitors.

I watched Karakuri like 15 minutes after the scheduled time last week and it was there just fine. Maybe Amazon does different uploads for different countries? (that would be stupid though)

I remember different availability time depending on if it is on the web or via app and seem Amazon Prime & Prime Video make the show availabe at slightly different times

As an Australian, Prime nets you basically nothing (Country is too big and unpopulated for instant shipping, and its free on most things as it is anyway) so I’d just be paying for the their video selection. The only real positive is that it seems to lets you buy from Amazon US (They stopped all non Amazon Au shipping to Australia soon after we got Amazon here like 2 years ago). Literally no reason to get it.
