I rarely ever seen SnS being praised for it's hype. Yes, all series have their hype moments but that's not what I see as the strengths for SnS. Toriko's strengths, at least more so in the TS, was it's hype moments. It's not a bad thing for SnS. Clearly its subjective what people find as hype but more often I see Toriko being associated with hype far more than SnS. Also, a lot of people just dropped SnS or are just along the ride to see how it ends. I couldnt bare it so I just dropped it, hoping for the series to get axed. I never found that "most" readers dropped Toriko after the TS.I think this is the funny thing: Those "Hype thing" also are in souma (the fanservice when someone eat something, some scenes, crackships) and most shounen have it(bad or good series), most people read it because of those thing, in the same way some people read late toriko.
I think the problem with toriko is that most reader dropped toriko after the TS(or did like icemperor) and the fans still reading it developed a sorta-cult following with the series and the author.
I mean, it isn't bad, is a fandom and is not a problem if you like toriko, but deny that both Souma and Toriko were overstaying their welcome because you like one of the author and you don't like the path of the other series
I found the timeskip to start pretty well (there were bumps in the road like skipping out Toriko saving Komatsu) with the Heracles/Bambina arcs. I never felt frustrated with Acacia as a villain, my main issue comes with the area skipping since it throws away the structure of the gourmet world saga and the goals of the HK's are skipped. That was at least 10+ volumes worth of content just skipped and Shimabu foreshadowed/setup the framework for those areas. The character interactions of those duos and the world building would've been great to see.
How can Toriko overstay its welcome when the majority of the content got skipped? The gourmet saga was less than 3 years, unlike the central saga which was 3 years when it didn't need to be that long. Now, it's getting a blue saga/arc? Yeah, if thats not overstaying its welcome then idk what is. Toriko's final arc was only 30 or so chapters, that's not overstaying its welcome and it was Toriko's end goal. The people who wanted Toriko to end were just fed up with rushing. I don't blame them but at that point Toriko didnt have much longer. With SnS, who knows when its gonna end.
I said one of the few people...Its true though. I rarely seen people call Toriko boring, even when the series was rushing people still had fun reading it. Anyway, what people find boring/fun is subjective.isn't a good argument and it doesn't help that your post end with "you're the only person who I heard posting that toriko was boring".
