Yoda should have dropped Hirao after Legacy, he's an amazing artist but can't writes for shit, he should've teamed up with someone that takes full advantage of his illustrations, Hirao only writes boring suburban settings

personally I thought Fire Punch was a trashy manga, and its author got away with his crap by pretending it's was insane on purpose
but I'll keep an open mind, he have a bigger stage now than Plus, either they prove me wrong and writes a good manga or they get exposed, either way my win

btw, the mangaka wasn't able to writes manga on weekly basis before, they took a break once a month when they wrote Fire Punch, could he adapt to WSJ schedule?

Yeah Fire Punch was a watercooler manga, something you talk about in the moment as it goes to see how crazy it gets but once its over the flaws become a lot more apparent. It was a unique experience to say the least now how the fuck is he going to survive WSJ is beyond me.

About Fire Punch, I'm surprised no one brought up how that dude's art will transfer to main Jump. From what I remember it was sketchy looking and the designs didn't really fit a mainstream shounen magazine.

Perhaps but I don't think I'll ever see someone, who tells a disabled kid to kill themselves, as lovable. I just find it hilarious how majority of the readers would prefer a terrible person like him over the MC.

Not quite that often. He took 6 breaks (that I can remember, though probably another couple) over the entire 83 chapters, since we got 5 past one shots he’d done in each break, and then in his last break we got nothing. But regardless, Plus authors don’t get public holidays off like the magazine authors, so I always kinda figured the random breaks were to make up for that. Jigokuraku has been the same, with 4 breaks over 38 chapters. Summertime Render and Abyss Rage too. I think it’s just a Plus thing tbh. It works out similar to the amount of breaks they get in magazines anyway.

Fire Punch's author isn't known for his art anyway but for the absurdity in all of his work. I really hope his creativity doesn't get toned down by the editors at shuiesha.

If the problem, is serious simply the author does not draw for a while, so far the last chapters of Hero were 15 pages, two less do not bother me.

You don’t but companies do.

They are expect to be able to pump out 18 pages/week, it’s part of the contract. I’m saying it’s part of the “contract” since most authors in Jump also draw 18 pages/week (minus gag manga). If horikosh/tabata work for any industry that is not manga, they would be called an under performancer.

It is MUCH better if somebody takes break to recover and get back 100%, rather than be an under performancer
