It’s hard to talk about overseas popularity for current Jump series because most are still too new and the older series still overshadow most of them. For example on Youku, the Chinese streaming site, Naruto’s still the most watched anime with around 70 million views a week, and that beats most anime airing on any streaming channel, even the stuff on Bilibili. Even Boruto has 11 million views a week. In comparison Bleach currently has 4 million views a week, Gintama has 2 million views, 5-6 million views when it was still airing and Heroaca’s 3rd season averaged 5-6 million viewers per episode on bilibili and Youku combined.

Nothing against Black Clover, but from what I learned in eSports, trusting the upfront numbers of Chinese streams and VoDs is a bit iffy. They are usually manipulated upwards.

It's not upfront anymore for Iqiyi and they're official streaming websites. That's like saying Crunchyroll are lying about their subscriber count. Besides we already know from reports in Japan that Chinese streaming sites had a huge hand in the growth of the industry in recent years so there's no need for them to lie.

these days whenever people talk about new serialization round they always post wishlist which contains the same names Shimabukuro, Shun Numa, Moue, Shibata etc..., but I remember the days when it was impossible to visit this thread without seeing people wishing Tamura would start a new series

and now his new oneshot will be published next issue and no one even cares

seems that Hungry Marie was so bad it made the people lose their trust in him

BLack Clover is the new bar that all future anime will strive to reach. Pierrot once again proved that they are associated with only the best and most ambitious anime productions out there. HeroAca episodes never generate this much buzz and attention.

You know what mangaka I want back on Shonen Jump? Shinohara. Sket Dance is one of my favorite manga and Kanata no Astra was fucking amazing on Shonen Jump+. All of his manga were superb.

Two things can be true at once. Black Clover is very successful. Black Clover is not nor will it be remembered as "one of the great shonen". It barely breaks into 300k per volume sales currently. Those're great numbers, but less than Bleach after it fell from fame.

With how its killing it in the streaming game on CR, it will be a show that will continue to be part of anime discussions and remain relevant similar in the way that Naruto has never left anime fans minds and remains a pillar on CR, a worldwide service. Consider that you never see people bring up JJBA or Toriko or Hunter x Hunter as much as BLack Clover in anime discussions and how no one talks about JJBA when its done airing and how Toriko hasnt left any sort of legacy or how HxH is not really mentioned anymore.

BLack Clover has earned its great shonen status.
