This is so damn cute
If he has rough drafts/notes on those skipped areas, it would've been great if he handed it off to another mangaka to make a spinoff or make a light novel out of it.It sucks that a lot was skipped/rushed, but I don't blame Shima for that. It's obvious they told him he had a limited number of chapters left. Hell, the last chapter was basically Shima saying: "See all this, these were all going to be future plot points, but since I'm getting canned, here they are."
I swear to God man, I'm never going to forgive Japan for Toriko dying off like it did.
THat's actually a pretty hard question.Anyway, changing the subject slightly, which Jump series do you feel do adventure/world building the best aside from One Piece and Toriko?
It seems to me that it is a somewhat ambiguous term; since Naruto or Hunter could be mentioned, but in their beginnings these 2 have a "nation" rank and it is not until more advanced history that we can see things like entire continents.Anyway, changing the subject slightly, which Jump series do you feel do adventure/world building the best aside from One Piece and Toriko?
HxH. The Promised Neverland maybe?Anyway, changing the subject slightly, which Jump series do you feel do adventure/world building the best aside from One Piece and Toriko?
Being the last post of a page is a pain, it loses a lot of visibilityTBH, and bringing the crappy Jump Force to discussion, I'm still amazed, shocked, and sad that they didn't include Toriko in the roster. Heck, in the previous Jump fighting game (the 45th anniversary for 2013), Toriko was one of main characters together with Goku and Luffy. So it amazes me Toriko has been completely removed for Jump Force and that he also isn't in the potential DLC list.
Dragon Ball (pre-Z), Fist of the North Star, HunterxHunter, Dragon Quest no Daiboken for me.Anyway, changing the subject slightly, which Jump series do you feel do adventure/world building the best aside from One Piece and Toriko?
Hunter x Hunter doesn't exactly have a well constructed world (for it's advantage, though, since it lets Togashi do whatever the hell he wants), but the feeling of adventure is pretty good.Anyway, changing the subject slightly, which Jump series do you feel do adventure/world building the best aside from One Piece and Toriko?
Nah, I don't see many similarities. The goal of Shiki for starters is to make 1000 friends if I recall. This is slightly off-topic, but does it seem like Eden's Zero is basically just One Piece in space?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not criticizing the series at all since I read and enjoy it. But there's a LOT of similarities. The spaceship has to be retrofit in order to travel to dangerous parts of space, just like the Going Merry (or whatever it was called) had to be retrofit in order to enter the grand line, etc.
Heavy emphasis on friendship and adventure, with new crewmates added, each with unique talents suited for the journey, etc. The character designs at times also seem very Oda-like.
Viz finally lists Hell Warden Higuma for August 11 https://www.viz.com/shonen-jump-chapter-schedule (no chapter name but I assume that's the epilogue)
In fairness to 2017, Shudan and Cross Acount both showed sales potential which just never panned out.Isn’t D. Gray-man the Earth in the past but with a twist and World Trigger the Earth in the present with a twist if I’m not mistaking anything.
Also I looked at Wikipedia on WSJ when the serialization rounds were around this time in the last couple of years:
2018:
Alice to Taikyo at #31 and no series until David and Japan at #42
2017:
Cross Account at #29 and nothing until Lycopene at #45
In 2015 and 2016 series were released around where we are so this could be a new trend and we’ll see some new series in the early to mid 40 issues
You forgot medaka for 00'sNaruto's definitely up there, it does feel like a whole continent with complex politics and history, and One Piece is of course great at making everything feel connected. some arcs are better than others but no other series quite gives me the feel of real impact to MCs actions, you see people reading about it in the news and reaction to the bounties and everyone's growing infamy.
Though considering how long they are, it'd be more worrying of the fantasy worlds they created didn't feel alive.
For less massive series though, it's harder to think. There's not as many hit wsj series set in a fully separate fantasy world as you'd think, most of them are either normal Earth but with a secret society, Earth in the future, or Earth in the past. Those can have good world building too of course but it's just not the same as a series building an entire new world.
Going through the wikipedia list, the proper hit stuff I see with their own world that's not Earth with a twist are:
80s
Kinnikuman, Dr Slump, Dragon Ball, Bastard, Dragon Quest (though you might discount it due to being licensed)
90s
Ninku, Hoshin Engi, One Piece, HxH, Naruto
00s
Black Cat, Bobobo, D. Gray-man, Toriko
10s
World Trigger, Black Clover, Neverland
There's certainly plenty of failed ones but in terms of big hits there's seems to be about 4-5 per decade (going purely by start date, I know some of these started right at the end of their decade).
Don't know about D. Gray Man but World Trigger is universe in the near future with twists. You can travel around planets and each one has different climate, architecture, vocation, orbit and proximity to 'earth'. We have even errand planets, which don't follow any orbit.Isn’t D. Gray-man the Earth in the past but with a twist and World Trigger the Earth in the present with a twist if I’m not mistaking anything.
I think the reason people are expecting a new round now is because both Food Wars and Sumo ended and aside from one one-shot a week haven't been "replaced" rather than it being too long since the last.Isn’t D. Gray-man the Earth in the past but with a twist and World Trigger the Earth in the present with a twist if I’m not mistaking anything.

Didn't you start it after all the new series hit chapter 7? Beast Children this week is 11 so 3 issues if I'm right about timing.I forget, where are we at now in regards to the poll? How many weeks has it been?
