Coming from a Jump+ success makes sense as a good place to start I think. The writers have enough success and experience that they know how to capture people's attention, but not too much that they assume their old fanbase will buy it anyway even if they don't try as hard.

Kishi's pretty much said exactly that about Samurai 8, hoping his existing fanbase will buy it anyway even if the start isn't interesting and just trust it'll be good later on. Hungry Marie felt that way too, it threw in some references for the Beel fans then just screwed around not really trying like it assumed people will buy it regardless. While a newbie or not well known creator needs to try their best to gets fans from the start.

ikd how real it is but:
The author actually commented on it in the last volume of Hungry Marie (where the one-shot was included as a bonus).

"This is the one-shot that preceded the creation of Hungry Marie. Back then, I wanted to move away from Beelzebub for a more fantasy-oriented universe. I remember deliberately choosing a hero who resembled a pre-transformation Oga. Reviews on it were pretty good, so I tried to turn it into a series, but despite several attempts submitted to my editor I failed to make an interesting story out of it. In the end, for a change of mind I decided to submit him a storyboard of a story more similar to Beelzebub, and this time I remember getting the okay immediately! I probably won't get to use this idea anymore, so please read it to pay it a funeral hommage."

Holy, 50k for Chainsawman, damn this is good. It's selling almost as much as Yuuna.
Not only that, but also the growth for CMan is noticeable Oricon wise

Isn't it strange that KnY vol 16 is somehow selling more than volumes 10-15 have in sales as of now?

Nope. It should get another boost with the demon train arc if the second season comes next year and not the one after that.

Nah. It's probably not even going to surpass MHA's sales let alone reaching One Piece's level (which has constantly been no1 for more than a decade)

Thanks exactly what I wanted to know. A comparison between the sales of all three volumes. If the cliffhanger in volume 3 is an indication i’m guessing volume 4 might sell pretty well too since that should include chapters 26-34 and those have been pretty good so far.
I find that pretty weird the series only has around one volume of backlog for the chapters when a new volume comes out. Even when volume 4 comes out in October 4th the series will have around 6 chapters in backlog.

This was something I brought up earlier in the thread, but it kinda got ignored then, so I'm bringing it up again.

Original source is 5ch, for reference.

Why aren't MHA and JJK listed?

Isn’t tweeting about these things kinda a niché thing so at best it only tells you the series hardcore Jump readers care about while giving you no real feel on the more causal readers and children that read.

Nothing different than this twitter poll for the last issue where Saiyuki is in Top 5 discounting F-Ken (Act-Age, Jujutsu and Chainsaw being Top 3), and The Promised Neverland in Bottom 2 lol. Maybe a fun read, but neither should be taken seriously.
